First Impression Out Of The Box:

Well, I should have renamed this section “First Impressions Out of the Bag”. This atomizer does not come in a box. It comes in a velvety bag with two drawstrings and they embroided logo for 528 customs. So far, the atomizer looks to be a very high quality and machined extremely well.

What’s In The Bag:

In the bag you will get a full goon RDA and a spare parts bag with one set of spare O-rings and four spare deckscrews. That’s it, nothing else.

From Top To Bottom:

The Goon comes with a 10.5 mm Delrin drip tip. Of course, this is where we get the same goon style drip tip. The top cap has an oring inside that the drip tip secures into. On the top cap itself there is some 528 Custom Vapes branding CNC into the actual cap the cap itself has one thin o’ring and three circular holes for airflow. The holes are set up in a way so you can run the Goon in single or dual coil mode. Inside is a conical design that I’m sure enhances the flavor of this RDA. The barrel has three airflow slots on each side. They correspond with the airflow holes on the top cap. The top cap can be turned to adjust the airflow for either one, two or three holes. On the barrel, there is a 528 Customs log deeply machined into it.

The Deck:

The Goon deck is indeed legendary and it is what sets this atomizer apart from all others. It is the first of its kind. 528 Customs innovated the clamp style deck. It is exactly what it sounds like. You have 4 Phillips head screws in a row that feed through two clamps. Loosen the screws and open up the clamps so you can fit some huge coils inside the clamps. They do have to occupy kind of the same space but trust me there is plenty of room in there.

Turn the atomizer over and you will see a copper 510 pin that is adjustable. There is also some 528 branding on the bottom as well as a serial number. You also have a negative post screw should you feel the need to take everything out and give your atomizer a deep cleaning. All of the CNC Machining is extremely well done.

Building And Wicking:

There is a reason the Goon RDA achieved the status it has in the vaping community. This RDA couldn’t be simpler to build. The machining on the whole RDA is top notch and tough to beat. The post holes are huge and will accommodate wide flat coils of any type. Once your leads are secured you have plenty of room within the RDA to adjust your coil. Wicking of course is a breeze because this is an RDA. The juice well is 5mm deep and holds a really nice amount of juice. I got 20 drops in there easily.

This is a 24mm in diameter RDA. The two-post clamp style build deck is made especially for builders in mind. It has four millimeters of width between each screw and the posts are gold plated for superior conductivity. There is peak insulation present and you have a workable space of 20mm inside of this deck. It is a simple 3-piece assembly yet it is extremely effective.

How Does it Vape?

What can I say about such a legendary atomizer that hasn’t been said already? This is a simple, elegant, extremely effective design. It just vapes great there are no two ways about it. I love the way the deck is easy to build on and I love the actual vape and cloud production I get from this atomizer.

Right now I’m running dual aliens ohming out at .16 at 85 Watts on my Lost Vape Therion. I get an absolutely fantastic, flavorful vape. The airflow is smooth and even. The clouds are thick and lush. I especially love runningthis atomizer on my Smoant Charon Variable. I have the copper version and it just matches beautifully with the copper version of the Goon. My Goon has found a permanent home.

Conclusion:

Listen, there’s a reason this is one of the most copied atomizers in vaping history. Other companies have tried to clone and improve upon this deck. They’ve changed the screws, added springs, opened up the sides, you name it they’ve done it. The point is, this is the deck that started all of that. This is also the atomizer other reviewers are referring to when you hear them say this tank/RDA takes goon-style drip tips. There’s also a reason why this is one of the most popular atomizers ever made. The reason is simple, it is that good. This is one of those atomizers that comes around once in a great while and you use to judge all others by. Its legendary status is hard-earned and well-deserved. All this atomizer does is deliver in the flavor and clouds department. You cannot go wrong by picking up a Goon by 528 customs.
