First Impression Out Of The Box:

Both the S2 and S4 charger come beautifully packaged. The packaging is very similar but of course, the S4 packaging is a little larger. Both are very similar when you take them out of the box with a few little differences that I will go over in the full review. They both give you the impression of quality at first glance and they look to be very solidly built. I have had both of these chargers for well over 2 months and I have put them through quite a few cycles. I have been using both of them on a daily basis.

What’s In The Box:

The Golisi S2 and S4 Charger:

  • Charger
  • Power Cable
  • Instruction Manual

Both chargers come with the same exact things included in the box. Of course, the difference between the packaging would be the actual charger itself and the number of batteries that it takes. Both boxes include the charger, power cable, and instruction manual.

From Top To Bottom:

The S4 Charger:

The first thing you notice when you plug in your S4 charger is the absolutely beautiful blue screen. The screen is done in blue and the lettering is done in white. The contrast of it is just beautiful and stunning. It is definitely one of the better battery charger screens I have ever seen. On the bottom of the screen, it will show you what slot is actually activated once you drop a battery in. Each label corresponds to the slot below it. The slots that are vacant will show the message null. The ones that are occupied will show you the battery chemistry, current, voltage, current percentage, and the charge rate.

Golisi S4 & S2 Battey Charger Review

This particular charger from Golisi has four battery slots. This is an intelligent charger and the charger itself determines at what rate your batteries are charged at depending on how many slots are actually occupied. The only way to get it to charge at 2 amps is in the 4th slot if that is the only active bay. If you put in 3 or more batteries in the charger, all of your batteries will charge at .5 amps. Put in 2 batteries and each battery will charge at 1 amp. Put 3 batteries in the charger and each battery will charge at .5 amps. I really like the fact that this charger shows you your current percentage as well as the battery chemistry. It is a neat little feature to have and so far, I have really been enjoying it.

The bays of this battery charger are done very well, too. The top battery contacts for your positive connection are solid and stay in place. The negative battery connection is the sliding type and it goes up and down vertically. These bays will accommodate 18650, 26650, 14500, 16340, 18350, 18500, 32650, and 20700 batteries. I honestly do not know if it will accommodate a 21700 but I am inclined to say yes. I do not currently have any 21700 batteries so I can not state that for a fact as I did not get to test that out for myself. If you do want to recharge 26650 batteries, then you have to use the two outer bays. They are both cut a little wider to accommodate 26650 batteries.

On both sides of the charger, we do have some venting. There is also some venting underneath the battery charger on the back side. Also on the backside of the mod, there is some Golisi branding with some spec numbers as well. Also, on the left side of the mod, there are two display buttons. What they do is they let you scroll on the screen between your charge time, voltage, and current mAh. The buttons are nice and clicky with a very tactile feel to them.

On the bottom side of the mod, there is also 2 Phillips head screws that keep the back plate in place. Along with the two screws, we have 4 rubber pieces in the corners that stop the battery charger from sliding on flat surfaces. There is some Golisi branding on the top of the screen as well. On the side of the battery charger where you plug in the provided power cable, there is also a 3.5 mm plug. Since the instruction booklet says that this can be used in the car as a charger, I am assuming that this is where you would plug in the male 12-volt cigarette lighter plug. That plug is not included in the packaging so I cannot verify for sure that that is exactly what it is. There is also no mention of it in the instruction manual. Overall, I think it’s a really solidly constructed battery charger.

The S2 Charger:

This charger is basically constructed the same exact way as the S4 the difference being it has 2 bays instead of 4. On this charger, the 2 amp bay is the first one and that is also the bay that allows you to charge 26650 batteries. That bay will charge at 2 amps when it is the only one being used. The second bay will charge at 1 amp, no matter how many slots are actually occupied. When both slots are occupied, the first bay will charge at 1 amp. Just like the S4 charger, all of the venting and buttons are basically in the same locations. The big difference between the S4 and the S2 is that on the S2, there is a 1 amp USB port on the right side of the charger. This will allow you to plug in your phone using its power cord while you are still charging two batteries. When you do this, the charge rate of your batteries drops down .5 amps. Other than that, there is really not much of a difference between the two. The screens are exactly the same, the only difference being you get readings for two bays and not four. Both are definitely small enough to take with you on an extended trip in your luggage. Of course, if space is a premium and your needs necessitate it, you are probably better off with the S2 over the S4. However, I could see myself traveling with either one of these chargers.

How Does It Work?

I have been using both chargers for a little over two months now on a daily basis. They have replaced my Efest 6 Bay charger and I have to say, they’ve done an excellent job in the time that I’ve used them. I really like the display and the information that I get on the display. I absolutely love the performance and I appreciate the intelligence of both chargers. I like the fact that I can drop my batteries in there and not worry about what rate they are charging at or the fact that I do not have to sit there and fiddle with buttons to choose what rate they are charging at. This is basically a drop-and-go charger. Just drop your batteries in and let the Golisi battery charger do the rest. I like products like that, that are no muss and no fuss. Both of these chargers just get the job done and they are extremely well built.

What Would Have Made It Better:

  • Car Charger Accessory Plug

Out of these two chargers, the only one that I would legitimately use in my car would be the S2 version. I just think the S4 charger is a little too big for that and the S2 charger is definitely better suited for that task. For Golisi to tout that these can be used in the car yet not include the car plug accessory is a big con to me. If you were going to make something that does a specific job, you need to include all the tools that do that specific job. For Golisi not to do that is kind of ridiculous. It’s not a big con to me personally because I don’t really use battery chargers in my car but if that is going to be in the job description, then the plug has to be included. From a point of principle, it is definitely a con.

Conclusion:

I can honestly say that I really enjoyed my time with both of these chargers. They are very solid and they get the job done without any messing around. There are no settings to worry about and you can just drop your batteries in and walk away. I like those types of products and I tend to gravitate towards them personally. I love the beautiful screen on both and I like the way Golisi laid it out. These are nice high quality, intelligent chargers that are sure to give you years of service. If you are looking for that smart type of charger, then you should definitely check out the Golisi S2 and S4 battery chargers. I find this charger to be very versatile because it can accommodate a wide array of batteries that are available in today’s vaping market. They are probably two of the better battery chargers on the market today and they are definitely Deucesjack approved.
