First Impression Out Of The Box:

Wow! This is a really nice mod. The snakeskin is absolutely beautiful. I like the feel of it in my hand. Feels like a solid mod. The battery cover is very solid. Loving the look of this snakeskin battery cover. Well done!

From Top To Bottom:

Very nice 510 pin. Nice and firm with a good spring to it and a really good throw. This mod will accept 25mm atomizers with no overhang. The 510 pin is held in place by three hex screws. It is solidly mounted and it is not going anywhere.

There is some Lost Vape Therion branding right under the 510 pin. It is elegant and subtle and not overbearing at all. Below the branding, there is a squarish cutout. To be honest, if that’s square was a little bigger it would be a perfect place for a firing button. Right below the cutout is a nice clicky firing button. It has an octagon shape to it and a very tactile feel. Below the firing button is an LED light, however, I can’t figure out how to turn it on so I believe it is a leftover from Therion DNA 75.

Below the firing button, you have the DNA screen. No surprises here it’s a typical DNA screen with all the information you expect from a DNA screen. It is bright and vibrant and gives the vapor all the information they will need to tune in their Vape. Of course, all the information on the screen is customizable through Escribe.

Below the screen, you have the plus and minus buttons they are the same shape as the fire button just smaller. They have a clicky feel to them and are very responsive. Right below the plus and minus buttons, you have the update charge port. It is used to charge the mod and do firmware updates. Of course, we recommend that you charge your batteries externally but it’s nice to have that feature in a pinch. The Therion does have 2 amp and balanced charging for those times when you just can’t charge externally.

On the bottom of the mod, there is some company branding but surprisingly there is no venting present. The body of the mod has a carbon fiber inlay with a snakeskin battery cover. Both are very elegant and well done. The color scheme just goes well with the look and feel of this mod.

The battery cover is very solid and has no movement or wiggle to it. There is no button rattle either. This is a typical C frame mod and the batteries fit in nicely without damaging your wraps. Once the battery cover is off you will see clear markings for battery orientation. There is also a battery strap to help you remove your batteries when you are swapping them out. There is also a magnet on the top of the battery sled to ensure that your battery cover stays put. The contacts for your battery are gold-plated and spring-loaded. They provide a nice snug fit for your dual 18650’s.

The Look, Feel, and General Aesthetics Of The Mod:

I love the look and feel of this mod. It is extremely elegant. This is the type of mod you take with you to a nice restaurant because it is a classy looking piece. The snakeskin on it obviously isn’t real snakeskin but it looks a lot like real snakeskin and you really have to touch it to figure out that it is not. Same goes for the carbon fiber – it looks real but I’m sure it is probably just a sticker with some texture to it. Even though both materials are not real they work well together and look real. All in all, a beautiful classy looking mod.

The Board:

The board is a DNA 250 board but since this is a two-battery mod, the maximum wattage is 167 Watts. This is Evolv’s newest flagship board and for good reason. A lot of vapers will tell you when it comes to TC the DNA is the last word. It is one of the best mods on the market for temperature control vaping. You can adjust your temperature from 200 to 600 degrees Fahrenheit. It will fire TC builds as low as .08 ohms and kanthal as low as .1 ohms. Of course, like most DNA mods, the Therion automatically senses the resistance of your coil so there is no need to manually set the resistance. Along with that feature, there is also a wide variety of safety features and warnings built into the board.

Upon purchasing a DNA mod, you are granted access to Evolv’s proprietary software, Escribe. If you are the type of vapor that likes to tinker and tune your vape in every way possible, then the DNA is the mod for you. With this chipset you can accomplish a wide variety of different things like customizing your screen, adjusting the preheat of your Vape, save specific tanks wattages and temperatures, you can even save battery profiles. Most of the things I just listed are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the customization of this board. So if you are proficient with a PC and love to fine-tune your vape, if you like to have custom screens for all your tanks, then the Therion is definitely worth a serious look. Unfortunately, at the time of this writing Escribe software is not available for Apple users.

If you are not proficient with a computer and do not like to tinker with your Vape, you can still own a DNA. It comes with most of the popular wires pre-installed. So technically, you don’t need a computer to enjoy a DNA mod. We just suggest it in order for you to get the most complete and comprehensive vaping experience out of this type of mod that you do use Escribe.

The Menu System:

  • 5 clicks of the fire button turns the mod on
  • 5 clicks of the fire button locks the mod when it is on
  • Hold the plus and minus button to power lock and unlock the mod
  • When power locked press the plus or minus button to scroll through the 8 presets
  • Lock the mod with 5 clicks of the fire button then hold the plus and minus button together to change the wattage while in TC mode

All of these different button clicks sound a little crazy but in reality, they are very intuitive once you get to know them. Besides, most of the real input where settings are concerned is done via Escribe.

How Does It Vape?

What can I say? This is a fantastic mod that Vapes great. We have come to expect nothing less from mods with a DNA chip in them. The vaping experience is very on point and precise. No matter what type of atomizer you use you will get a wonderful accurate vape. DNA mods are also known for their range so you can run a single coil tootle puffer tank on it as well as a huge dual exotic coil in a monster tank.

Right now, I am running my Goon RDA on the Therion. I have dual stainless steel Clapton’s installed ohming out at .20 ohms. I’m running it at 98 watts in TC with a temperature of 500 degrees Fahrenheit. The Vape is just fantastic. I get full on flavor with thick, lush, clouds. I Vape in TC almost exclusively. So for me, there are only three boards out there that have separated themselves in the TC Department the DNA happens to be one of them.

Conclusion:

So who should really buy a DNA mod? As I’ve said before I truly believe that if you’re just a wattage vapor, the DNA mod is a bit of overkill. Don’t get me wrong, you will get one accurate vape but you can get that with most variable wattage mods. If you are not a TC vaper, then the only reason to venture into the DNA world would be for the build quality and warranty. DNA mods tend to have much better build quality than most mass-produced mods and they also have a pretty good 2-year warranty.

If you are a TC Vapor, you would be hard-pressed to find a better temperature control mod. This mod is for the vapor that loves to use exotic builds, switch between a bunch of different atomizers and tinker around and TC. I know some people may disagree with me but I am of the belief that to get the most out of this mod, you really need to be a TC vapor.

This mod is available in a ton of color options. The one I reviewed is the grey rattlesnake with carbon fiber. I also have a red ostrich skin with a wood inlay. Both are fantastic-looking. There is definitely a color combination available to satisfy almost any vapor.
