First Impression out of the Box

DeucesJack: What’s up, everyone? DeucesJack at vapinginsider.com and today I got a new dual 18650 squonker for you. I got the Nikola Niagara. 200W, 6 ml squonk bottle, 0.96 inch display, 3 preheat settings, got a power curve setting, power mode only though.

Let’s cut downlow. Let me show it to you up close and personal. We’ll go over everything then we’ll come back on top. We’re going to talk about it a bit, cons, pros and we’re out of here as usual. I’ll see you downlow.

What’s In The Box

  • 1* Nikola Niagara Mod
  • 1* USB Cable
  • 1* User Manual

Alright, everyone! Welcome to the downlow portion of this video. Today we’re going to be going over the Nikola Niagara, 200W mod.

Quick tour around the box, some Niagara branding there, nothing much else going on. On the back, I’ll hold it here for a second in case you want to pause this video and read about the features and specs.

Nikola Niagara Review

In order to open the box, just pull it out like that, just like a drawer. Opens up just like a book. We’re going to take the mod out and we’re going to put that to the side for a second. Inside this part of the box here, we have a micro USB cable for charging. You also get a rather nice instruction manual. Looks to be laid out pretty clearly and in a few different languages. Put all that to the side.

From Top To Bottom

Let’s take a look at the Niagara itself. Here is your screen, plus/minus button, micro USB port. I got the gunmetal one. Got a nice fire button on top here. It’s a little mushy but I like the location. There’s your 510 connection. We’re going to go over that in a minute. On the backside of the mod, nothing really much going on. Here is where your squonk bottle is housed. I have some juice in there. It’s a regular squonk bottle. We’re going to pull it out. I’m going to show it to you.

Just a nice little one in the middle squonk bottle. Has a nice little neck on here so you can get a decent grip. You pull it off, unscrew it. And the one thing I hate about this squonk bottle, see that hole there, man? That hole, normally this whole thing is open on an average squonk bottle, this hole is a pain in the neck to fill from especially if you use in a glass dropper. You can’t just dump your juice in there. I don’t know why they included a squonk bottle like this. Also, most of the time when I fill a squonk bottle, I like to hold this to the side, the tube to the side and just squeeze from the top. I cannot do that with this squonk bottle. Really, it’s a nuisance it really is. Otherwise, the squonk bottle is good but that’s one feature I just don’t like about it.

Nikola Niagara Review

You can see the squonk compartment. We have a gold-plated stem over here that your tube slides onto. A little bit of a recess over here so your squonk bottle can sit in there nicely. You have four magnets over here that coincide with four magnets on the squonk door. It’s got a real nice click to it. Stays in place really solidly.

On the top side of the mod, we have some stainless steel plating over here. Couple of little cutouts, I guess for airflow. You can really only get 26 mm atomizers on here max. Even some 25s are going to be tight. We have some gold-plated, spring-loaded 510 that I would call stiff and short.

On the bottom of the mod is where your battery door is located. You push in and then you kind of got to pop it out like that. Battery doors got a nasty wiggle to it when there’s no batteries installed. However, once you compress it and put the batteries in there, this battery door isn’t going anywhere. Some venting over here, gold-plated button style contract right here. Plus and minus but it’s black on black, really should be white, that should be standard.

Nikola Niagara Review

Down the bottom of the tubes, there are some plus and minus markings and they are gold-plated, spring-loaded battery contacts.

Let’s put the batteries in. Plus side over here, minus side over here. Flip it down, push it in and pull it out. You can see, no battery rattle, no door rattle, nothing.

Nikola Niagara Review

Let’s put the squonk bottle back in. Just feed it right onto that tube right there. Shove it on and shove the bottle in. Put the bottle cover on.

Now you can see the screen. This is a power mode mod only. Here is your battery life, wattage, resistance, volts, preheat, memory settings and mode that you’re in. Again, this is a power mode mod only. The screen is definitely a little on the dim side. In order to enter the menu system, give it three clicks, now you can see heart is lit up. If I click it again, I can scroll between hard, soft, normal or user. Hit three again, now hit the fire button to confirm. I normally keep it in normal. If you scroll up to the battery, it’ll tell you what your battery is doing right there. You can also access your memory functions right here. There are three different memory settings. I normally keep it just on M because I don’t use anything else.

Nikola Niagara Review

Another feature that this mod has is if you hit the minus and the fire button, you can lock it down so you can still fire it but the wattage will not move. If you want to unlock it, you hit the minus and the fire button again and it’s unlocked and now it’ll fire. It looks like a typical Tesla board. Normally on a Tesla board, you can change your material right here. There is no option to do that on this mod.

Feels real solid in the hand. Got a nice form factor. I’ve been running the Black Drop Solo with the PMMA cap and I think it matches really nice with the gunmetal. Definitely been digging it.

Let’s go back top side, let’s talk about it. We’re going to go over it, cons, pros and then we’re out of here. See you back on top.

General Thoughts

All right, everyone! We’re back on top with the Nikola Niagara and you see it, man. I got the Wotofo Warrior RDA rocking it out on top. We’re going to be reviewing that real soon.

You saw the Niagara up close and personal. Measures in at 87 x 61 x 29 mm. Very small and compact for a dual battery squonker. I’m definitely digging the form factor. Love the fire button. Great for you thumb fires. It’s got a little bit of a mushy feel. I wish it was a little bit more tactical but what a great location.

Nikola Niagara Review

It’s nice, it’s got a nice form factor and it’s solidly built. I mean the thing just feels, it’s got that heft of a quality. Yes, I am going to address the elephant in the room. It is very similar looking to the Vicious Ant Vanguard but you could say that about a ton of mods that came out with that Smok alien look. I just think to pin Nikola with that “Oh, you copied off the Vanguard, the Vicious Ant Vanguard thing” is disingenuous at best. Not only that, the Vanguard starts at like $350 for the regular one and it’s $700 for the stab wood one. So they’re not even close, they’re not even in the same price range at all so I’m not going to knock them for taking a form factor that just works really well and looks really nice. I can’t do that when I haven’t done it for all these other mods behind me. I gotta keep it real.

Let’s go over the cons and pros.

Cons

First con is going to be, it’s a power mode only mod. Some people are not going to like that. It looks like they use the Tesla board and they turned off all the temperature control features. I wish they wouldn’t have done that. I wish Nikola would have used the real whole Tesla board so I could do temperature control so I’m going to give them a con on that.

We’re also going to give them a con on that door, that battery door. It’s got some wiggle on it. Some nasty wiggle on it when it’s open. I don’t like that. Nikola, you should have definitely ensured that up before releasing this.

I’m also going to give it a con because there’s no extra squonk bottle. Yeah, I hear other people saying oh you only need an extra squonk bottle for proprietary. That’s BS. Every squonker should come with an extra squonk bottle. It’s regular squonk bottle. You could probably get a coil master gremlin in there but you know what, when you spend on the type of money we spend, you should throw in an extra squonk bottle.

I’m also going to give them a con because for some people, it’s going to be on the heavy side and some people are not going to like that.

And I’m going to give them a con on the squonk bottle itself. While it’s very responsive, you only got to give it a little push and that juice starts going up. I love it. It’s got a nice responsiveness to it. You saw it in up close. It’s kind of closed off right where you got to pull out the whole stem in order to fill it up. I don’t like that. I wish they would have opened it up a little bit but at the same time, because it’s closed out on the top, I think that’s what makes it so responsive. There’s not a lot of air moving around in there. It’s got it’s pros and cons to it but I got to point it out.

Let’s get into the pros.

Pros

First pro is going to be nice form factor. Thing is really comfortable to hold.

I like that. I’m also going to give it a pro because it’s a true one-handed squonker. You fire it with your thumb, you squonk with your finger. True one-handed squonker, I love it.

Build quality, we’re going to give it a pro for that.

Really nice responsive squonk bottle. I told you the issues in the cons but it’s very responsive so we’re going to give them a pro for that.

I’m also going to give them a pro because this thing just doesn’t have any rattles, check it out. I’m putting it by my mic, nothing. No battery rattle, no button rattle. No door rattle either. Once that door is is pushed in it’s solid so I’m going to give them a pro for no rattles.

Comfortable fire button. Love the location. Yes it’s a little mushy, I wish it was a little bit more tactile but the location is fantastic, very comfortable to use.

Let’s also give them a pro on that solid squonk bottle door. You saw it downlow. Those magnets are strong. They did a bang-up job on that. We give them a pro for that.

I’m also going to give them a pro because if you don’t like that squonk bottle, other standard squonk bottles should fit, that’ s a pro.

26mm with no overhang, pro.

Scrolls in half-watt increment, pro.

Has a wattage curve feature. Some people love those curves. We’ll give them a pro on that.

Subtle branding, really. The only branding on the whole thing is right in the front there by the screen, I like that. That’s always a pro on this channel.

And the last pro I’m going to give it is this thing is just very ergonomic. I like the ergonomics of it. It’s fantastic. I mean.

Conclusion

What else can I really say about it? This is probably next to the Rage squonker. This is probably my second favorite dual battery squonker. It’s just is. When you put it next to Geekvape GBox, this thing is much more comfortable to hold. As far as which one is more comfortable, the Rage or this, that all depends on you. I find them both extremely comfortable. I just think that the performance on the Rage is a little better because it has more bells and whistles.
