Conclusion
My conclusion with this thing is, I have a hard time recommending this mod when the Pulse 80W mod is out by Vandy Vape. The Pulse 80W mod is a better model than this, it really is. The only reason you would buy this over the Pulse is because it’s more aesthetically pleasing to you, in my opinion. It does not perform better than the Pulse as far as I’m concerned and they seem to be in that same genre.
Intro
What’s up, everyone? DeucesJack at vapinginsider.com. Today, I got a new squonk kit for you. Yeah, man. I got the Aleader Bhive Squonk kit. Single 18650 kit, looks very much like a Pulse 80W mod, 7 ml capacity.
Let’s dive down. We got a lot to go over. I’ll show you everything. We’ll drop a build in this thing. We’ll wick it up, juice it up, come back on top. We’ll talk about it, cons, pros, out of here as usual. I’ll see you down low.
What’s In The Box
- 1 Aleader Bhive 100W Box Mod
- 1 Aleader Bhive 24mm RDA
- 1 USB Charger
- 1 User Manual
- 1 Warranty Card
- 1 Accessories Bag
From Top To Bottom
Alright, everyone! Welcome to the down low portion of this video. Today, we’re going over the Aleader Bhive 100W. Really, some Bhive branding over there, Aleader. Here are your kit contents. I have the rainbow. On the back, we got some warnings. You want to read them, check it out. Pause it if you want to. Here is your scratch-and-sniff.
Let’s get into this thing because I got a lot to go over on this kit. There is the mod. Got an Aleader warranty card, Bhive 100 watt manual. There are the specs if you want to pause it and read it. Here is your USB charging cable and here is your blue screwdriver, flat head screwdriver, spare o-rings, spare deck screws. Here is your atomizer. Really nice job they did, matching this to the actual mod. I’ll show you it all put together in a minute. Check out that drip tip, man. That just matches the side beautifully. Bang-up job on that. Some Bhive branding over there. Here is your bottom airflow. We’re going to put it on the stand in a minute and I’ll show you how it works.
On the bottom of the atomizer, it says Designed by Aleader. Got a gold squonk pin in there and some Bhive branding. There’s also a negative post screw over here. 810 style drip tip with the o-rings on the drip tip. There is no o-ring in here so you cannot use goons. Here’s how the airflow works. See it on the bottom, it’s fully open right now you can just slide across and shut it down. Bottom airflow is going to give you great flavor. Whatever you do on one side, happens on the other side. Let’s pull this off. This is a single piece. This top part does not come.
Inside, a little bit of a domed shape towards the top but not much. I think they could have domed it a little more if they wanted to. I would have liked to have seen that. Let’s take a look at the deck. Gold plated deck, 1.5 millimeter. Hex grub screws over here, you can get some pretty decent builds. Inside those terminals, you have two posts with two terminals per post. Two o-rings, have a nice tolerance to it. They hold everything in place. Here is your squonk pin right here. Here is your bottom airflow right here. It comes in through here and then up through here.
Building
Let’s slap a build in this thing. Let me show you how to build it but I am going to tell you right now, I’m putting some higher ohm coils in here because this is a single battery mod and while it is regulated and you don’t have to build for it, the problem is with a lower ohm build like a 0.15 or a 0.1 build, what’s going to happen is I’m going to have to run it at higher wattage and I’m just going to rip through batteries. It’s just not efficient. So what I’m going to do is I’m going to put some 0.8 Clapton’s in there. Now, with your coils positioned like this -don’t worry about the placement yet. We’re going to get to that in a second. What you do is you kind of hold them in place, take your driver and tighten down your leads. You want to go for the easier leads first. This one looks like the easiest right here. Let’s give it a snip. Same thing over here, on this side.
Let’s get in there real quick, snip. Now we can start jostling our coils around in order to get to those other leads. Like I said, coil placement comes now. So now we take our coiling rod and we place it right in front of that airflow, right there. Same thing over here, get your coiling rod in there and get it right in front of that airflow. So your airflow and build should look something like that. You want it right in front of that coil. Here we go. Let’s give it a gentle little pulse right now. We’re at 0.44 but that’s probably going to change a little bit. There we are, we’re heating evenly from the inside out, perfect.
Wicking
Let’s put some wicks in this thing. I’ll show you how to wick it up. Shout out to Native Wicks Platinum Blend. Give it a little twist on one side, feed it through until I get some nice resistance just like that. You want to cut your cotton right by that second o-ring. So I’m going to give it a snip right there. Do the same thing on the other side, feed it through. We’re going to cut this one flush with the other one. This one, we’re going to cut right by the second o-ring as well and this one, the same thing. Let’s tuck those wicks in first. Want to grab whatever tool you use as a cotton tool and just gently tuck them in very, very easily. They go in beautifully just like that, boom! Make sure you’re not blocking that airflow right there. You don’t want to block that. Same thing on the other side. Now you want to take your juice and you just want to get everything started. Make sure we got vapor. Get that juice flowing and there we go.
Let’s go over the mod. I have the rainbow version. As usual, we’ll take a quick tour around it just like so. Looks like it’s got some acrylic panels here, fire button, screen, plus/minus, micro USB port, there’s your squonk hole.
We’re going to start off on top. Here is your stainless-steel 510 plate, held in place by two screws. We have a gold-plated, spring-loaded 510 connection, very short and stiff throw to it. Stainless steel threading over here. Let me show you how the Bhive atomizer goes on. You can see, it comes right up to the edge there so 24s are going to be it for this.
Let’s open this thing up. Let me show you the insides. Four nice magnets on the back that coincide with magnets on the battery tray. We got a little bit of Aleader branding over here. We also have a battery strap with some Aleader branding over here, definitely on the long side. Here is your battery indicator markings right there. You have a plus sign right there. You have a minus sign. Spring-loaded, gold-plated contact on the bottom. Button style gold-plated contact on the top. Nice squonk bottle, nice and soft. Real nice silicone feel to it. Threading on the squonk bottle is really nice. They did a good job on that. I like this squonk bottle, definitely been diggin it. I wish they would have included a second one. They did not.
Menu System
In order to install batteries, you go positive side up. Put it down first and in and tuck that battery strap away. Then you put your squonk cover on. On the bottom of the squonk cover, there’s a little cutout there for your nail to get your nail in. There’s some venting on the bottom with some Bhive branding. Now you noticed, my build is coming out to 0.45 and there’s a reason I did that because they included a dual coil atomizer on this and man, if I would run like a 0.15 build, I’d have to run it at like 80W and it just wouldn’t be a good vape. It really wouldn’t. So you got to kind of build for this even though it’s a regulated squonker.
Let me show you the screen right here. Here are your ohms, voltage, amps, power, mode that your in, puff counter in seconds and your wattage.
In order to get into the menu system, one, two, three. You can see, there’s power mode, there’s temperature Ni, temperature TI, temperature SS, and bypass mode. Let me put it into temperature SS. Now you’ll notice, in temperature SS, I can scroll up and down in 10 degree increments. I have not found a way to adjust the wattage in temperature control. That’s definitely going to be a con. Hold the plus and the fire button to flip the screen. Hold it again to flip it back.
In order to adjust your TCR in temperature control mode, hold the minus and fire button while you’re in temperature control mode and you can adjust it right there, up or down. Let’s put it back into wattage mode. Three clicks, back into power mode. In order to lock the buttons on the mod, hold the plus and minus button together. Your up and down button is locked. To unlock it, hold the plus and minus button together again. That’s really all I got for you on this one down low. Let’s cut back on top. We’re going to talk about it. We’re going to vape on it, cons, pros and we’re out of here. See you back on top.
General Thoughts
Alright, everyone! We’re back on top with the Aleader Bhive Squonk kit. 83 x 53 x 25mm. Comes in rainbow, red, blue, green, purple and black. 380 grams, weight all put together. Not bad, pretty solid. Does not feel like it. Does the full 100W. It feels like it’s doing maybe 80W max. You got to remember they kind of dropped the ball on this one, man. This should have been a 21700 mod or at least a 20700 mod. What were you guys thinking? Coming out with a mod like this with 18650s when everyone else is coming out with 20x 700 versions of this. Just doesn’t make any sense. It does fire down 2.05 ohms.
Cons
Let’s go over the pros and the cons.
First con’s going to be, it’s got sharp edges. The edges on it kind of feel like you’re holding a drag. That buku drag type of feel, that’s what it feels like when you hold it.
We’re going to give them a con for that RDA. Should have been a single-coil RDA. Come on, guys. You’re doing 18650 squonker, a single 18650 squonker and you put a dual coil deck in this thing, that’s ridiculous. You should have thought that through. You should have put a single coil deck on this RDA and it would have been ten times better.
Out of sleep mode, this thing has a real bad delay. If you let it sit for a while and you pick it up to vape it, you hit the button it doesn’t vape. You got to hit the button again and then it vapes. Annoying as hell. They’re getting the con for that.
They’re also getting the con because there’s no way this thing’s doing 100W. I vaped it next to my DNA mods. I vaped it next to my Yihi boards. It’s not hitting 100. You’re lucky this thing’s maxing out at 75-80W. So you’re getting a con for that.
Chip is very simple, it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles that a lot of newer chipsets have. We’ll give them a con for that.
One amp charging, con. Even though we don’t recommend internal charging, we recommend that you charge externally. For a single battery mod, it’s alright. Why didn’t you put two amp charging in there? That’s standard nowadays. That’s a con, Aleader.
No wattage adjustment in TC, that’s another con.
Pros
Let’s get on to the pros because there’s a few of them.
First pro is going to be, it’s a good-looking mod. It’s good-looking kit. Everything matches up beautifully. They did a nice job looks wise. It’s very aesthetically pleasing. I love the matching RDA and the matching drip tip, great job on that.
I’ll also give them a pro for the deep juice well.
Let’s give them a pro for this, for the deck screws that they use their top loading. I like that.
Very simple to build on, we’ll give them a pro on that.
Let’s give them a pro for bottom airflow. That always gets superior flavor. We’ll give him a pro on that.
Great colors, I love the color choices. I went over them earlier. They’ll get a pro for that.
Holds 24mm atomizers with no overhang, pro.
And the TC, while you can’t adjust the wattage in TC, it’s actually pretty decent. It’s not that bad. So I’ll give them a pro for that.
I’ll give him a pro for the quality squonk bottle they provided. It’s nice, soft, silicone feel to it. I like it, we’ll give them a pro for that.
