We’re back on top with the Asmodus Nefarius Squonk TF BF RDTA. I don’t know why I chuckle when I say that all the time, it just makes me laugh. It’s just so huge. It’s alphabet soup. I don’t know where they come up with these names. Let’s get on with it.
Squonking RDTA, it’s 25mm in diameter. 42mm in height. Weighs 47 grams has a 4 ml capacity. I like it. I got to say, I love it on the Asmodus Pumper 18 it only makes me more annoyed that Asmodus didn’t send me the Pumper 21. Because I think this thing would pair perfectly with the Pumper 21. Just a great job on that. The capacity down here and then you got another 4 mls on top. That’s a win. That’s a big win.
First Impression Out of the Box
DeucesJack:What’s up everybody, DeucesJack and we’re back with another review. Today I have the Asmodus Nefarius Squonk TF BF RDTA. Some alphabet soup name, huh? Well I got to tell you man, it’s kind of cool. RDTAs fallen out of favor lately. I think I haven’t seen a lot of them hitting the market lately. I think that’s because if the popularity of squonking. I think that’s kind of stolen some of it’s thunder. I got to be totally honest. I’m not really an RDTA guy. I think when they were in their prime, I think most of them were real hyped. They were just cloud chuckers, they really did. Most of them didn’t have really good flavor. I definitely preferred an RDA in general over an RDTA. But you know what? This one’s a little different.
I’m going to show it to you down low. Let me show you what’s new with this. We’ll cut back on top. We’re going to talk about it. Vape on it and then we’ll go over cons, pros, out of here as usual. See you downlow.
What’s in the Box
- 1 Nefarius RDTA
- 1 Spare Glass Tube
- 1 Allen Key
- 2 Oni Fused Clapton Prebuilt Coils
- Spare Parts
- Instructional Manual
All right everyone. Welcome to the downlow portion of this video. Today we are going to be going over the Asmodus Nefarius RDTA.
Let’s take a quick tour around the box. Some Asmodus branding there. You can see I have the silver, there’s the barcode. There’s some more Asmodus branding and some stuff over there.
On the back, you will notice that this particular RDTA weighs 47 grams, made out if stainless steel, has 510 threading. It’s 25 x 43mm in size. The capacity is 4ml.
Let’s open this up and see what we got here. First thing you notice, we have a nice spare glass here. We’re going to put that to the side. Here is your spare parts pack, o-rings, grub screws. I already use the coils. I already went through them. Here is your drip tip. It’s a chuff cap style drip tip. Shortie style, thick, big opening but it tapers down in the middle. Here is your Allen key. We’ll drop that to the side. And here is your owner’s manual. You can see that you fill this one right down the middle.
From Top to Bottom
Let’s take a look at the actual RDTA. So here, we have the Asmodus Nefarius right. Now, the first thing you’re going to notice is that drip tip looks a little funky, right? It did not do well in my ultrasonic cleaner. That’s the original color of it right there. It should have been like a dark green with some blues and stuff in it but it really got discolored in my ultrasonic cleaner. Very disappointed in that. I really am. But it’s a comfortable drip tip.
Now you’ll notice right here. See this barrel? This barrel locks. So when you spin your airflow it stays in place. And when you take it off the mod it stays in place. Now check out the airflow. That’s the widest right there. Then if you turn, it gets a little slimmer. And then if you turn again it gets even more slimmer. Goon style drip tip. It’s a goon style drip tip with the o-rings on the drip tip itself. Got a little bit of Asmodus branding over here. Same thing on the other side, Asmodus branding. Nothing too terrible. I don’t mind it at all.
Let’s take a look at the bottom here. We have some Asmodus branding here. Some Nefarius branding. Stainless steel threading over here, gold-plated 510 pin with an insulator ring around it. But what’s interesting about this bottom is, remember I said this is a squonk RDA, right? Check this out, see that? See that right there? Now it’s a squonker. Nice job on that.
Now let’s take a look at the deck. In order to take a look at the deck, we got to take the top cap off. But let’s take a look at the inside first. Barrel and top cap do seperate. There is your airflow. Air hole cutouts. On the top cap itself you can see the airflow slots gets bigger as we go around. These o-rings right here have some really nice tolerance to them. Notice the conical shape inside. You don’t really often see that on our RDTAs. That definitely gives this RDTA an advantage when it comes to the flavor.
Now let’s look at the deck. The deck is kind of weird. It’s kind if like a tombstone style deck with the tombstones back to back. That’s the best way I could think of to describe it. Here are your post holes right here. Two terminals per post. It’s a two post design. Fill it right down here. That’s one issue with this is you can’t fill this with drippers. You need some type of needle nose bottle. Hex screws over here so your wires stay flat. They don’t get twisted in there. Here are your wicking ports where you drop your wicks.
Here is your glass section where it houses all your juice. You do get a spare glass that is replaceable. I’m going to show you how to build and wick this thing right now.
Shoutout to Hawk Coils. We’re going to be using their fuse stainless steel claptons. Check those beauties out, nice looking coils. What you want to do, I’m going to give you a pro tip on this one. What you want to do is you want to take your drip tip and you want to measure your coil lead length right against where the drip tip ends there. Make sure you use the flush side of your cutters and you want to cut your leads like that. Do all four like that and you’ll have perfect lead length every time.
Now let’s grab the deck. All you do is you simply drop your coils in there. And you want to have your coil basically sitting on the post for now because what that’s going to do is, that’s going to give you enough length in your leads in order to bend your coil forward which you have to do with this atomizer. So now we screw it down, don’t worry about placement yet, we’re not worried about that yet. Hold it down and screw it down. And now once it’s all tightened down, you take your coil jig and you kind of bend your coil over. You don’t want to go too low because you want your air flow to hit that and that’s what it should look like in one side. Then you take the other coil amd just do the same thing. That looks just about perfect. Let’s make sure our air flow is actually lining up. See that? See that right there? How that air flow is going to line up perfectly? That’s exactly how you build this.
Let’s put it on the Coil Master 521 Plus tab. See what we’re ohming at and pulse it and get it wicked up. So now we got it on the tab. Let’s sew what we are ohming out at, 0.1, which is fine. What you want to do is you want to give it a gentle little pulse and there you go. Now we’re heating up nice and evenly. And it’s time to wick.
Shout out to Native Wicks Platinum Blend. That’s what we’re going to be using right now. You guys know I love my Native Wicks. I tear myself off a piece that I know is going to be long enough to handle two coils. And I give it a little roll. Make one end a little pointy. Make sure you turn your coil master off cause you don’t want to fire while you’re wicking. That can hurt. You hear that? You just pull your wicks through then you grab your – shout out to the Vape Shears. You want to cut this right below the metal piece there, right there. Same thing on the other side, right below the middle piece so your wicks are long enough to hang just barely pass that part. Give the other end a roll. Pull the cotton through your coil. Same thing, right below that metal piece. Same thing here.
Now what you want to do, you want to take whatever tool you use. I like to use this dental pick because it’s nice and dainty. And you just push your cotton through the wicking ports and make sure it’s not choked off. Same thing on the other side and you do that on all four corners. And you want to make sure it’s a little loose in there. You don’t want it to be too tight. Same thing on this and that’s it. Now you’re all wicked up.
Now we’re ready to add juice. Juice I’m going to be using today is Honest Guava Passion Fruit. I’ve been breaking all the summer juices cause it’s summertime here in New York and I’m ready to vape the fruity summery stuff, that’s for sure.
Now in order to fill it, you just put your nozzle in there and watch. Give it a squeeze and you see it filling up? Just like that. And the other thing you might want to do is you might want to give your coils and your cotton a little start, nothing wrong with that. Don’t worry about getting juice on the deck it’s all going to get absorbed up anyway. And you also want to turn your coil master on and give it a quick little pulse. Get some vapors going. Work that juice into the cotton. That smells so good.
That’s it, let’s cut back on top. Let’s vape on it. We’re going to talk about a little bit, cons, pros, we’re out of here. See you back on top.
Let’s get into the official cons and pros. First con is going to be, you saw, I had to replace the drip tip. I got to improved my match game with green drip tip so this was the closest thing I had. But you saw that drip tip up close. That thing didn’t hold up in the ultrasonic cleaner. Got to give them a con on that.
Another con I’m going to give them is the top cap does tend to get hot when you chain vape. That’s normally a very common characteristic among many RDTAs but this one, you can definitely feel it. You can get a little bit of bacon lips on this one if you chain vape it. And that’s basically it man. That’s all there really is to the cons.
Let’s get into the pros because there’s quite a few of them. First pro is going to be, I got to say, this is a flavor chasing RDTA. When you put it in that genre this is definitely one of the better flavor RDTAs on the market.
Also going to give them a pro for the typical Asmodus build quality. Fantastic job on the build quality. I expect nothing less from Asmodus. Great job there.
Let’s give them a pro on the conical design on the interior. You saw it on the up close. That’s what contributes to great flavor, having that conical design in there ok.
I’m also going to give them a pro on the fact that it’s easy to build and easy to wick. You saw me slap a build in there. It’s not that hard. Give them a pro for that.
Cloud. Cloud production. I mean, look. There’s no doubt about it. Check it out. Thing’s got nice cloud production. No denying it.
I’m going to give it a pro on the looks. Really clean looking atomizer. I like that.
I’m going to give them a pro on two drip tips. That’s a pro alright.
Let’s give them a pro on the great airflow range. I mean, you can really cut this thing down if you want to and really fine-tune your airflow on it. I like that okay.
