That’s about it, man. This thing is a legitimate sub ohm tank. It’s a very, very, good sub ohm tank. Now people are going to ask me, “Jack, is it as good as the Falcon? Is it as good as the Free Max one?” It’s right there with them. Those two might actually edge it out a bit but you might go for something like this because you like the aesthetics on it better. That’s all up to the individual. Right now, my top two sub ohm tanks are that Free Max Fire Luke Pro Mesh. That’s the top tank and the Falcon Mesh, as far as I’m concerned. This one is a very, very close second to those two. That’s how high I’ll rate it.
First Impression Out of the Box
DeucesJack: What’s up, everyone? DeucesJack at vapinginsider.com. I got a new sub ohm tank for you today. I got the Desire Designs Bulldog Sub Ohm tank. That’s right, this is the Bulldog. 24.5mm tank, 28mm in the middle if you run the bubble glass. I got it on top of the DNA 250 C Paranormal by Lost Vape. I think it looks badass on there.
Definitely been enjoying this tank. I’m running a straight glass, though. You guys know I like my bubble glasses. I’m running the straight class because my 9-year-old decided to do a drop test for me on my Paranormal and he dropped this thing from the kitchen table onto the ceramic floor, so bye-bye bubble glass. But you know, we’re still going to review it. I got another one that I’ll show you the bubble glass on down low. This one holds 4.3mls of liquid with the bubble glass, 3 mls with the straight glass that you see here. Has a great drip tip. The drip tip on this thing is awesome. Has two coils included in the kit.
Let’s cut down low. Let me show you everything up close and personal. We’ll come back on top. We’ll chat about it a bit, cons, pros, we’re out of here. I’m going to see you down low.
What’s in the Box
- 1 x Bulldog Tank (0.18ohm Mesh Coil, 4.3ml)
- 1 x 0.2ohm Triple Coil
- 1 x Glass Tank
- 1 x Accessories
- 1 x Manual
- 1 x Warranty Card
Alright, everyone! Welcome to the down low portion of this video. Today we’re going to be going over the Desired Designs Bulldog. Check it out. A little bit of barcoding on one side, Desire Designs, color indicator marking. This is the black tank. Little Desire Designs branding over there and over there, we have our scratch and check.
Let’s open this thing up and let’s check it out. First thing you see is the tank right there. We’ll do a quick overview of it. We’re going to put it on deck for a second. Next thing you notice is we have a spare straight glass, there’s a bubble glass pre-installed. We also have a bunch of spare o-rings, clear ones. We’ll put that back in the box. The spare coil that you get is right here in the box. Check this thing out. This thing’s a monster. This is the 0.2 ohm coil good for 80-130W with a best-of range from a hundred to 120. So this coil doesn’t even get going until you crank 80W through it, basically. Nice big beefy coil, paperwork included.
In the box, you get a Desired Designs owner’s manual right here, a Bulldog one. We’ll file that to the side. You also get a warranty card with a verification code on the back.
From Top to Bottom
Let’s go over the actual tank, do a quick tour around it so you can see what it looks like. Good-looking tank, got that honeycomb thing going on there with a little bit of metal on the bottom. I definitely dig that. Has a roughed up side over here, a smooth side over here. The roughed up side is where you open it from.
Let me show you the drip tip first. Only one drip tip, a little surprised at that but it is a nice one so I’ll give them credit for that. Nice 810 style drip tip, fits in there nice and snug. This roughed up side right here, that’s where you push and you slide it open. There’s no locking mechanism on or anything. It is a little bit on the stiff side but I still don’t trust it in a pocket. Nice decent sized fill port. Will accommodate most bottles, bullnose bottles can be a little messy. As you can see, I have the bubble glass installed. That’s the way the tank came, pre-installed with the bubble glass. It has a spare straight glass I wish it would have a spare bubble glass bottom. Airflow stoppers on both ends, whatever you do on one end, happens on the other.
On the bottom, we have some Bulldog branding. It looks almost like a brass 510, it does not look gold-plated. It actually looks a little roughed up and we also have a stainless steel threading there and an insulator ring, serial number, designed by Desire Designs.
To get to the coil, all you do is unscrew the base like you do any other sub ohm tank. This is their brand new mesh coil. Check it out. You can see it inside, I like the kind of squared off edging that they did on here. It’s definitely different. This is their 0.18 ohm mesh coil, good for 50-110W, best of from 60-80W. I think the best of rating is actually a more accurate rating than the good for rating on top.
I’ll be honest with you, every time I go past 80W on this coil, I start to get dry hits and I’ve been running this, the tank that I’ve been using I’ve been running on my Paranormal 250c so it’s not like that mod is not accurate. I just think this is an 80W max coil, in my opinion. You go over that and you start to get dry hits. I thought at first it was just the one that I had that came with the box but they also sent me a spare set of coils so I tried one of those and same thing. So in my opinion, this is an 80W max coil. You don’t really want to go over 80W with this.
Nice short chimney right there, chimney goes right into the coil like that so you don’t have a lot of distance for the flavour to go. Screw it back on and fill it right up. Quick tour around it again so you can get a good look at it.
Let’s cut back on top. Let’s talk about it, cons, pros and we’re out of here. See you back on top.
Alright, everyone! We’re back on top with the Desire Designs Bulldog sub ohm tank. I like this tank, man. I’ve definitely been enjoying it. Comes with two coils in the kit. Three coils total are available, the two I showed you plus they have a quadruple coil that ohms out at 0.15 and it’s good from 90-140W. I can’t comment on that coil because I didn’t get it. If I get it in the future, I’ll update this video. I love the slider top on this one and the way they roughed up the side that you push. That’s awesome. It comes in red, blue, black, purple and silver. I’m rocking the silver one. I showed you two black one down. Low bottom airflow so the flavor is there. The mesh coil is really flavorful and really nice but I think it’s overrated I really do. I tried a couple of them 80W. After 80W, that thing starts dry hitting. It is not a 110W coil in my opinion but you’ll get great flavor up to 75-80W. That’s my take on it. That’s been my experience.
Let’s get into the cons and the pros.
First con is going to be while they did give you one beautiful drip tip, that’s the problem. There’s only one. This should have been at least two so they’re going to get a con for that.
It needs a spare bubble glass especially for us reviewers with nine-year-olds that do drop tests for us. I would have liked to have had a spare bubble glass. Listen, you guys know the way I feel. We’re in America here. We like bubble glasses. I don’t need a straight glass. If there’s a bubble glass available. If there’s a bubble glass available, I’d rather have two. I’d rather have a spare bubble glass. That’s just the way I feel. Other people may feel differently but that’s my opinion on it. I have no need to run a straight glass if there’s a bubble glass available. So we’re going to give them a con on no spare bubble glass.
And the mesh coil on this one is definitely overrated, in my opinion, by about 30W. Make sure you stay 80W or below if you’re running the mesh coil.
Let’s get into the pros.
First pro is going to be, this is a typical Desire Designs tank. This thing is built well.
The build quality on it is fantastic. I love the aesthetics on it. It’s beautiful, it’s a little different looking with that squared off top. Great job on that, Desire Designs.
Nice airflow range. The air flow ranges from very airy to a semi restricted DL hit. I like that, you’re getting a pro for that.
Love the slider top, they did a great job on it. It’s got some nice resistance even though it doesn’t have a locking feature. I have no problem putting this in like my front jeans pocket.
Good capacity with the bubble glass 4.3 mls, will give them a pro for that.
Great drip tip, pro.
Going to give them a pro for great coil longevity. The coils on this, no matter which one you run, last pretty long. I have to say, the mesh coil especially. It was lasting, I’d say, at least 10 days. I got a minimum of 10 days out of the three mesh coils that I tried. Some of them, I got 14 days out of so we’re going to give them a pro on that.
Great flavor on the mesh. I’m going to give them a pro for that and great cloud production on the triple. That’s a pro.
24.5mm in diameter, means it’s going to look good on most of today’s mods, pro.
