Eboss Phoenix Mod Review

Updated on: 2019-09-22

Conslusion

I have been having an issue with companies coming out with single 18650 mod. Let me explain my logic. With the 21700 out there right now, I see no need to ever release a single 18650 mod. I just don’t. And don’t tell me there are people out there that don’t want to buy 21700s. That’s cool. 9 out of 10 times, a 21700 mod comes with a battery adapter. Let those people use the battery adapter. My point is, if it’s a single cell mod, I want it in 21700 form, 9 and a half out of 10 times.

All that being said, this one’s got good performance. I got the Smok TFV on top of it. The gold kind of picks up some of the browns and gold and the graphic. Got it at 58W. Let me show you what I’m working with here. Not bad. It hits hard. It does what it is supposed to do, I can’t complain about anything on the way it vapes. It’s very lightweight, it fires fast, it does what it’s supposed to do. It’s no world beater. It’s an easy carry because it’s light. I would use this mod as like my beater mod or like a back-up mod. That’s the kind of reason I would have to buy a mod like this.

Intro

What’s up, everyone? Welcome to VapingInsider.com. Today, we’re going to be going over the Eboss Phoenix. It’s one of them plasticky, lightweight, single 18650 mods. This one has got lights, though. It’s got lights by the 510. Let me show you down low.

Before we get into the video, make sure you check out our new merch site. You can get my tag line on a shirt, or hoodie.

What’s In The Box

Also included in the packaging is a Phoenix user manual, a quality certificate and a flat micro USB shorty style cable.

Quick Tour

Let’s check this thing out. Pretty colorful box there. Has a colorful mod to go along with it. Pop that thing out of there. Check that out. Give you a quick tour around it. This is the Super Mario one. Here’s something interesting. You get these 2 star screws over here. See these, right here? These little rubber pieces right here? Those are actually LED lights. Lights that are underneath your atomizer and I’m going to talk about that a little bit further on in the review. But I’ve never seen that before. Stainless steel threading over here, gold-plated 510. I would say the 510 has a very loose, short throw to it just like the other mods from this company. Now you can see some of the Mario characters in there. That’s a little after my time. I don’t know exactly who they are. I’m sure most of you could name there. I guess that’s supposed to be Mario. Over here, you got your fire button. Nice and clicky fire button. You can see that, nice and big. Over here, you got your screen. Plus and minus buttons, also clicky. Micro USB cable. I haven’t been able to find out any information as to whether this is firmware updatable or not.

On the bottom, you got some more of that same graphic. On the side here, you have some battery venting on both sides. That battery venting kind of serve as a little tab. You can get your fingers in there and take the battery door off. Just like the Unicorn, nice, strong magnets. Non-conductive material so you don’t gotta worry if your batteries have any tears but you should check them anyway. Nice, big magnets over here. Black on black, battery indicator markings. That’s going to be a con. On top here, spring-loaded, gold-plated battery contact. On the bottom here, gold-plated, button style contacts. Check this out. Those magnets are strong. They friction fit in there too but once you pop it in there, it don’t move. No wiggle, no nothing. Really nice job on that, really is. Once you pop that in there, that battery stay.

Screen and Menu System

Let me switch to the mod that I actually have a battery in and now i can show you the different graphic as well. There is your screen. Nice, big, bright screen. P means power. There’s your wattage, resistance, voltage, battery meter.

Here’s one thing I wanted to show you. Look at this. Oh, my God. are you kidding me? I don’t know if the camera is showing you how bright those ligts are. They’re not as bright when you have an atomizer on it but here’s the annoying part. Once you fire the mod and you set it down, I’m going to leave it here, I’m not going to touch it, i might speed it up a little bit. See that? See those lights? Those lights stay on and you see them with your atomizer on top so you’re looking at your mod, like sitting on the table or sitting on the desk and you see it flashing like this. And I believe it goes through 4 or 5 cycles of the different colors before it shuts off automatically and there’s no way to shut it off. It is annoying as hell. So that’s the story on the lights. I attached the tank to it just so it wouldn’t be getting no atomizers messages.

Let me show you the menu system. Three clicks, you see power mode blinking. Now you can scroll between stainless steel, Ti, nickel, and back to power mode. Stainless steel, titanium, nickel, power mode. That’s it. Let me put it in stainless steel. It goes up to 600 degrees fahrenheit. It does round robin to celsius. Put it down to 500, it scrolls in 10 degree increments. Another one of those mods, you cannot adjust the wattage. At least, I don’t know how to. You just gotta take what it gives you to the build that’s in there. Not a fan of that. That’s not a way to do good TC. three more clicks, that put it back in the power mode. One of the shortcuts on this mod, hit the plus and minus button together, it locks the mod. What that means is you can still fire it. You just can’t adjust the wattage. Hit the plus and minus button together again and it unlocks the mod. Hit the plus and fire button, now you can adjust the screen brightness. Hit the minus and fire button, and you can flip the screen. 5 clicks shuts the mod off, 5 clicks turns the mod on. And that’s it, folks. That’s the whole menu system.

Size Comparison

Alright, Insiders! Let me show you a quick size comparison. This is the mod we’ve been going over in the video. This is the Tesla Wii 85W, and this is the brand new Asmodus Tribute. Now you can see, the Tribute, overall, it’s not that much bigger. Feels a little thicker in the hand because of the shape but not much of a difference as far as overall footprint goes, just a different shape. Now I’m going to show it next to the Tesla Wii in 5W. Very, very similar to that. Very similar material, very similar feel in the hand. This one is actually just a little bit more comfortable because, check that out. See that little bump? The Wii is more flat. See this little bump, that little contour? That’s actually nice. It gives it a nice feel in the hand. A subtle little detail like that actually makes the difference. But that’s what you got for size comparison.

Pros

Let’s move on to the pros.

First pro is going to be, this thing is very light.

It fires fast.

It’s got a nice, bright screen.

That fire button is nice and clicky.

Battery door is really solid.

I like the form factor. It’s got a little bit of a curvature there. I kind of like the way this thing fits in my hand. Eboss Vape did a nice job on the form factor.

It’s got that smooth like rubbery, silky texture to it. I do like that. I gotta chalk up a pro for that.

For a single 18650 mod, this thing actually holds 25mm atomizers without any overhang so that’s going to be a pro.

But that’s it on the pros and cons. Let’s talk about this one a little bit.

CONCLUSION
I have been having an issue with companies coming out with single 18650 mod. Let me explain my logic. With the 21700 out there right now, I see no need to ever release a single 18650 mod. I just don’t. And don’t tell me there are people out there that don’t want to buy 21700s. That’s cool. 9 out of 10 times, a 21700 mod comes with a battery adapter. Cons

Alright, Insiders! Let’s get in to those cons and pros for the Eboss Vape Phoenix.

First con is going to be, you guys know, I’m not a lights guy. I don’t like those lights by the 510. When the atomizer is off, they’re super bright. They could double as a flashlight. Just not my thing. I especially don’t like that they stay on for 4 or 5 cycles through each color until they actually shut off. It’s annoying as hell. I don’t know why they did that. Did they think the vape is going to call out to people? People are going to see it flickering and they’re going to flip out and vape it? That’s the only reason I could think that you’d put the lights on there like that. I don’t like it and I don’t like the fact that I can’t turn them off. That’s a big con.

Thing scrolls in 0.1W increments. We passed that already. It’s either gotta be half watt increments or 1W increments. I don’t want to see 0.1W increments. I’m going to start giving it a con from now on.

Not a big fan of the graphics. You guys know me. I like the subtle stuff. I like the solid colors. Even the transitioning colors, I’m not a big fan of these cartoony graphics. It’s not because I think they’re child appealing. You guys know my feelings on that. I just don’t like graphics in general and if I do, it’s gotta be something that looks good. This just looks like a bunch of scribbly lines with different colors. It’s not my thing.

It’s got a simple chipset. Some people may like that, some people may miss some of the bells and whistles like it doesn’t have a curve mode, it doesn’t have any preheat. That might be an issue for some people so I gotta point that out.

Black on blac battery indicator markings. You’re always getting a con for that on this channel.

But that’s it on the cons. Most of the stuff is pretty nit-picky.

Let’s go over some of the specs on the Eboss Vape Phoenix mod. It measures in at 42 x 26 x 84. It will fire down to 0.06 ohms. It as an 80W maximum output and it takes one 18650 battery.
