What’s up, Insiders? DeucesJack at vapinginsider.com. Today, we’re going to be going over another collaboration. This one is between Ehpro and Vaping With Vic, a very popular YouTube reviewer. We’re talking about the Kelpie. I’ll tell you right off the jump, this is a single coil flavor banger. Make sure you watch the whole review.
Before we get into the video, make sure you check out our new merch site. You can get my tagline on a shirt or a hoodie.
From Top to Bottom
So here’s the tank itself. I have the stainless steel version. Nice goon style drip tip on top, all your other goons will fit fine. It is the 810 with the o-ring on the inside of the tank. It’s got a nice little bit of roughness over here so you can get a grip. There’s your mark right there, you see the arrow and the Kelpie. You just pop it open right there, and there is your fill port. Now, as far as the resistance goes, it’s got like a two-stage, almost -hear that, how it clicks? I don’t think this is going to really open up in a pocket. I still wouldn’t trust it. I would have liked to have seen some type of locking feature. It is stiff, probably going to loosen up over time. Not crazy about the slider. I wish it was a little stiffer or there was some type of locking mechanism on it. You can see, we have some Kelpie branding over there. Bottom airflow tank, stoppers on both ends. Dual bottom airflow, whatever you do on one side will of course happen on the other.
On the bottom of the atomizer, you’ll see some EhPro branding, a gold-plated 510, insulator ring and stainless steel threading around that. It’s also serialized. Now, of course, to access the deck, you just give the bottom a twist. When you put it back on, the threading is not the greatest. It could have been a little smoother. It’s okay. Sometimes when you first start it off, it’s a little crunchy but then once you reverse thread it and it catches, it’s fine. But I would have like to have seen better threading. Now check that out. You got a nice condensed chamber there, has some sort of a conical design to it. I do like that. It’s a nice, small chamber.
Check out this deck. Deck is kind of interesting. You got Phillips head screws on all four sides. You see that little divot? That’s kind of cool, the way they did that. Let me get a little pointer here. See that little divot right there? That’ll trap your lead and keep it trapped in there. I do like that. That’s a nice attention to detail. You got air flow coming in from the bottom and a little bit on the bottom side over here. I like that. Nice, big post holes. You can get a beefy coil in here and it doesn’t matter which way your coil is wrapped. You can put it in either way because you do have four terminals. I do like that. That’s a nice job, well-thought-out.
Over here, you can see, this is one of those decks where you’re kind of going to have to lay your cotton in there, kind of gotta have to dam it up over here and wet it down a little bit. I’m going to show you how to do that in a minute but I just want to show you that’s your wicking port right there.
Before we get into the build, I just want to show you something. I loosened up all the post holes because I wanted to show you how big those terminals are. Really, really nice job on that. Maybe if I put my hand behind it, you’ll see it better. See how big they are? That’s nice. You can get a nice, fat coil in here.
Building & Wicking
So now what we’re going to do is we’re going to use the coil that came in the box. It looks like a decent coil so we’ll give it a try. The first thing you want to do is you just want to take your coil, just kind of lay it in there just like that. Keep your finger on it, try to keep it somewhat centered. Keep your finger on it so you hold it in place and then just take your screwdriver and tighten that bad boy down, just like that. Now you want to take your other side right here and just pop it down just like that. The one thing I am going to say right off the jump, these screws, they suck. They’re horrible. They’re way too tiny. The phillips-head on them is ridiculously tiny. I wish he would have went with bigger, beefier screws.
Now what you want to do is just want to take you your coiling rod or whatever you use, your screwdriver, and just kind of center that coil, just like so. And your coil should look something like that. Very, very simple to build. Now what you want to do is you want to take your wire clippers you want to get them as close as you can to those leads and you just want to give them a snip. Same thing on this side, as close as you can get and snip. Now we’re going to turn our base on and you can see, we’re ohming out at around 0.32. That’s probably going to change. Let’s pulse these coils and see where we’re at. See? We got some hot spots. Give it a little scrape. Looks like we’re glowing evenly from the inside out which is exactly what we want. Beautiful. Now you can see, we’re ohming out at 0.37.
Let me show you how to wick this thing up. Now what we’re going to do is we’re going to take some of our platinum blend, give it a pinch on one end, like so. Let me get nice and pointy and just send it right through. Let’s grab it from the other end and send it right through. Got some nice tension right there, just like that. And that’s how you wick it.
Now here’s the interesting part. When you cut the cotton on this, you don’t want to jam the cotton in there. You kind of want to cut it. See where this second ring is right here? See this part? You want to run your scissor right along there and give it a snip. That’s where you want to cut it right there. Same thing on the other side. Take your scissors, run it right along that second ring and give it a snip.
Juice It Up
JUICE IT UP
Juice we’re going to be using today is Freeman 1885. This is a Vanilla Milkshake. You want to take your juice and you just want to give it a paint. Just want to semi saturate those wicks in order to make them malleable. You want to be able to push them into those wicking slots. I’m going to show you in a minute. You don’t got to soak them, you just want to get them a little damp. Now what you do is once they’re a little damp, you just kind of press them in there just like so. See that? See how they fit in there? Real nicely, just like that. And they’re nice and loose. That’s how you want it. Do the same exact thing on the other side. And that’s how you do it, just like that.
Before we go any further, the first thing we’re going to do, we’re going to pop that straight glass off. We’re going to get rid of it. You guys know, if I got a choice between running a bubble and a straight glass, I will take the bubble every day and twice on Sunday. So we’re going to pop that bubble glass on there. Now we’re going to take our base section that we just built and wicked. We’re going to give it a little reverse thread so it catches and now we’re going to thread that base on. Now we’re going to find our mark. Pop that tank open and now we’re going to give it a nice squeeze. Get that tank filled up with some beautiful Vanilla Milkshake. There we go. We’re all good. Slide that top cap over and now we’re ready to vape.

Let’s get into it, Insiders. Let’s get into those cons and pros. We’re going to start off with cons as usual.
First con is going to be, those deck screws. Those deck screws suck. They are so cheap. They could have used bigger deck screws. Come on, man. You had the room for it. Why put those crappy little deck screws in there? It’s a con.
Slider top cap, for me, not a fan of them. They tend to open up in your pocket if you put a mod in your pocket. This one’s a little loose especially when you get some juice on it. It’s not terribly loose. I just wish it was tighter or it had some type of locking mechanism.
No 510 drip tip adapter, that’s going to be a con on a single coil tank.
And of course, my famous con. I know some people get annoyed by it but too bad it doesn’t have a spare bubble glass. I like spare bubble glasses. I have no need to run a straight glass. I want two bubble glasses if a bubble glass is included. It’s my personal con. You don’t like it, just walk on by.
But that’s it on the cons. Let’s move on to the pros because this one’s got some pros to it.
First pro is going to be, this thing’s got some great flavor to it. It’s a nice single coil flavor atomizer. That’s for sure. There’s no doubt about it.
Very comfortable drip tip. I like the one they included. It’s just my style. It’s a pro.
Two coils included. I like that. Nice job, EhPro. I love it when companies include coils in a rebuildable. A lot of them have been getting away from it and I don’t like that. I think every rebuildable should come with coils.
Airflow on this one, airflow is key. This thing is smooth as it gets. Let me show you what I’m talking about. This is it wide open. Nice, right? Nice and smooth. I’m going to close it down about halfway, gets a little louder but that’s as loud as it gets. I want it wide open anyway. You’re going to get better flavor if you close it down a little bit but it’s going to be a tad noisier. It’s not a deal-breaker.
Build quality on this one, pretty solid. I like it. It’s a pro.
And I love the capacity with the bubble glass.
We already spoke about flavor and clouds. Let me show you what I’m working with here. Right now, I got a 0.37 build on top of my Jackaroo, at 48W. Let me show you what we got here. That’s a single coil. Not too shabby at all. For a single coil atomizer, this thing actually puts out some nice vapor production and the flavor is there. It’s got great flavor. You get a nice, saturated, dense sort of vape. I love running custards in this one. Custards and this one are absolutely delicious. If you’re a custard head, go out and get this atomizer. You’re going to appreciate it.
It’s funny. Every once in a while, when I see a name, I kind of like to look it up to see what it means and I looked up Kelpie and it’s a Scottish term for a shapeshifter, normally in the form of a horse. I have no idea what that has to do with vaping at all. it’s kind of a cool name. It does sound really Scottish. I’ll tell you what, this is a nice atomizer. One of my favorite single coil atomizers of the year, so far. This one is definitely DeucesJack approved. If you’re into those one-lungers, definitely check it out.
