All right everyone, welcome back on top. You just saw me build, wick and juice up the Geekvape Zeus RTA, single coil RTA top airflow.
I’ll tell you what, you know what I said in the beginning of the video? The top airflow normally doesn’t give you as good flavors to the side or bottom airflow. I still believe that but I’ll tell you this. This one is one of the better flavor top airflow RTA. It’s still not like mind blowing or great, but you want to know something? It’s got decent flavor. It’s got good flavor.
This is really for people who want that anti leaked design. They don’t want to leak. Normally, most if the times when you leak on an RTA, it’s normally not due to the design. It’s due to your wicking game. A lot of people would probably not going to agree with that, but it’s the truth. You need to up your wicking game if your RTA is leaking. Most of the time it’s not due to the design.
But you want to know something? This one’s got the decent flavor. It’s got better flavor than most of the top airflow RTAs that I have tried.
Capacities 4mls. I like that they give you two drip tips. One is a proprietary, the other one is in 810 drip tip. They give you a 510 drip tip adapter, that’s kind of cool.
Let’s get into the official cons and pros.
First Impression Out of the Box
DeucesJack: What’s up everybody? DeucesJack at vapinginsider.com. Today I got a top airflow for you. I got the Geekvape Zeus single coil top airflow RTA on top of the Squid Industries Double Barrel. That’s right check it out man.
Looks good on there. Nice RTA, top airflow. I’m not normally a fan of top airflow RTAs because in general, I don’t think they have as good a flavor as you get on the side or bottom airflow RTA.
But let’s see what happens. Let’s cot downlow. Let’s build it, let’s wick it. We are going to juice it up. We’ll come back on top. We’ll talk about it. Cons pros. We are out of here. See you downlow.
What’s in the Box
- 1 Zeus RTA
- 1 Spare Glass Tube
- 1 510 Drip Tip Adapter
- 1 510 Drip Tip Set
- 1 T-Tool
- 2 Prebuilt Coils
- Instructional Manual
All right everyone, welcome to the downlow potion of this video. Today we are going over the Geekvape Zeus leak proof RTA. Let’s check it out, let’s look at the box.
I always like Geekvape’s packaging. Jewel type boxes. A little Zeus RTA branding there, little Geekvape branding there. On the back of the box, nothing much just some barcodes. You can see I have the gunmetal one. There’s your scratch in check.
Let’s open it up. Let’s see exactly what we have here. Here we have a package of spare o-rings 510 drip tip adapter, spaced coil in there, some spare grub screws. Nice job on that.
Here we have a spare glass. Here we have a different type of drip tip than the one that’s pre installed. And over here, again, different type of drip tip. 510 drip tip.
Let’s look at the tank. But first, let’s see what’s on the bottom of the box. We have a Zeus owner’s manual, see there, 4ml capacity. In this envelope we have a Geekvape warranty card. The different colors that it’s available in, Zeus RTA, and we also have a warning card.
From Top to Bottom
Let’s take a look at the actual RTA itself. Good looking RTA. A little bit of Zeus branding over there. Same thing on the cap as well. Top airflow stoppers on both sides. Weird kind of drip tip right? It’s kind of one of those drip tips that goes over this piece. However, if you want to use this drip tip, it fits in there nicely. If you don’t want that part covered, you can use this drip tip. I prefer this one but you can also use the 510 drip tip adapter.
Top cap is really nice. Half a twist and it’s off. Big beefy o-ring inside. Over here, we have some kidney bean shaped slots. Most of your juice bottles will do well with it except for your bullnose bottles.
On the bottom, we have some Zeus branding, gold-plated 510 connection, insulator ring around it, stainless steel threading, some serial numbers and ‘Designed by Geekvape’.
Now, in order to take this apart, you simply give it a twist and you’ll notice that the barrel is spinning. And I’ll show you why in a second.
Threading on is not that great. Really surprised for Geekvape. Very crunchy, not very thin. I don’t like the threading on it. Once you feel like it stopped spinning, you just kind of wiggle your deck out.
Now here’s the reason why that barrel spins. This is a top airflow tank. You are getting airflow from here and here. It’s basically coming down the sides of these slots right here and hitting your coil. So you got to make sure that you put this deck game. That you line these slots up with those holes in there. You can tell it’s not a very conical design in there. But that’s why the barrel spins because you have to load this like this and kind of pop it in and then get it to thread which can be a real pain in the neck sometimes.
The AFC ring comes off. Okay for cleaning. And if you want to replace the glass you just spin the top cap off. You can hear that threading and then boom, that comes off. There’s some Zeus branding over there. I do like the paint job on that, I do like the gunmetal finish but, I’m not crazy about the machining.
It’s just, you hear that? It’s just not that good man. Really surprised at Geekvape. They did a bad job on the machining on this one.
Let me show you the deck now. As I showed you, these posts go into the barrel itself. Here are your flat head screws. I wish they were bigger. They’re tiny. You have some grating system over here. I guess that smooths out the airflow. These are your wick ports right here. It’s a GTA style deck because it’s raised off the base.
Building & Wicking
Let’s throw a build in it. A little bit of a pro tip. You want to take your coil and measure the lead up against the 810 spare drip tip they give you. That will give you the perfect length for this deck. Once that’s all done, you simply take your coil. You drop your leads into the deck, likeso. See how nice and high that is? Perfect tight. Now we take our screwdriver and we tighten everything down.
That’s side gets tightened down first. Don’t crank on it like an animal, nice and snug is all you got to do. Same thing on this side. Now the coil looks a little janky so we’re going to straighten it out then give it a little bit of a wiggle, maybe pull it out a little bit. And that’s how your coil should look for this RTA. You want this -the opening or your coil- to face these wicking slots. Let’s give it a pulse. See what we’re ohming out at and see if there are any hot spots.
Shout out to the Coil Master Plus Tab. We’re ohming out at 0.23. Give it a gentle pulse. You can see we have some hot spots. Give it a little stroke, there we go and there we go, we’re glowing evenly.
Let’s wick it up, take some of our native wicks, platinum blend. Let’s tear off a niece piece, like that. Give it a little bit of a roll. Feed it right through the coil, like that.
Now, what you want to do, since this is a GTA style deck, you really want to cut your cotton so it’s below this part. I like to cut it right around there. Same thing on the other side. Give it a cut right around there.
Shout out to the Vape Shears, great scissors, check it out and the link down below.
Now the juice we’re going to be using today is a nice summertime juice. This is Mad Buck Vapes. This is Sylvia’s Secret. It’s a snow cone, really really nice man. You’re going to like this one.
Now in this particular type of deck, I do like to wet my wicks before I place them and I’m going to show you why. Just get them nice and juicy. Wet them down a little bit to weight them down. And now what I do is I take my coiling rod. i kind if mold my wicks into place. See that? See what I did there? And same thing over here. Kind of mold them into place but keep them fluffy.
And now, we can give it a quick little fire. See if we have it. Maybe wick it, juice it up a little more. Alright, and there we go. Now we are ready to put the top tank back on top and fill it up.
Now remember, when we are putting the deck back in, we have to line these up with those two holes. So put it in, kind of give it a little pop, and then you’ll feel it catch. It’s so bad though, the threading, it really is. And then, it’ll stop and that’s how you know you threaded it correctly.
Let’s put the airflow ring back on and let’s fill it up with some Sylvia’s Secret. See that filling up nicely? A little bit more in there. And now we take our top cap put it back on half a twist, put our drip tip back on and now we’re all built, wicked and ready to vape.
Let’s cut back on top. Let’s talk about it a bit. Cons pros and then we are out of here. See you back on top.
First con is going to be the threading of the base.
I’m really shocked at Geekvape. They normally machine things very well. Threading on the bottom of this is absolutely horrible. I don’t like it at all.
Other con is going to be, it’s not the easiest deck to build even though it’s a single coil. You kind of got to know what you are doing. You kind of got a fiddle around. Well it’s a little fiddly.
The other cons going to be the deck screws, their tiny. The only screwdriver I could get to actually work with it was that coil master one that came in the DIY kit. All the other ones, the blade on the flat end is just too big. You can’t even get in that hole because the hole is kind of sunk into the deck. You know, the screws kind of sinks into the deck. So you really need, you know, they’re cheap, those screws. They should have used better deck screws or maybe a hex key would have been better. I just didn’t like the way they worked with the deck.
Let’s get on to the pros. First pro is going to be, besides the deck screw in the base, it’s a well built RTA. The paint is really nice, the finish is nice, they did a good job on that.
Second pro is going to be two drip tips included plus a 510 adapter. You’ll always get a pro on this channel for that. I love the half twist top cap. Awesome job on that Geekvape.
Smooth airflow, I’ll give them a pro for that. It’s got good flavor for a top airflow RTA. Give them a pro for that.
Cloud production, it’s got good cloud production especially for a single coil. I like that.
I like the no leak design. I get it, I get it why it’s popular, we’ll give them a pro for that because it doesn’t leak.
Let’s give them a pro on the capacity. 4ml capacity for a single coil atomizer, that’s a nice capacity.
And that’s it folks. That’s all I got for you today. Make sure you hit that like button, hit that subscribe button and hit that notification button. We’re working hard we’re dropping videos everyday.
