At the end of the day, people are going to ask me because they either own the Drop, the Dead Rabbit or both and they’re going to ask me, “Jack, should I go out and buy the drop dead?” Here’s my take on it. I think the Drop is a better atomizer. I think the Drop Dead is better than the Dead Rabbit. In my opinion, it’s a more refined Dead Rabbit type of vape. So if you’re a fan of the Dead Rabbit, this is definitely a step up. If you’re a fan of the Drop, this is like a half a step down. That’s my take on it.

First Impression Out of the Box
DeucesJack: What’s up, everyone? DeucesJack at vapinginsider.com. I got a new collaboration for you today. I have the Hellvape Drop Dead. That’s right, it’s a collaboration between Hellvape, Brian from the Vapor Chronicles and Billy the Vaping Heathen, both popular YouTube reviewers. Basically, what this is, is they’ve taken the Drop and they’ve taken the Dead Rabbit and they’ve created the demon love child of the two of them. I want to thank my vPro for sending this to me for review. You guys know, ever since my Dead Rabbit review, Hellvape won’t send me anything. It’s like gravy on a biscuit. It’s all good.
We’re going to cut downlow. I’m going to show you everything. Will come back on top. We’re going to vape on it, cons, pros and we’re out of here. going to see you downlow.

Alright, everyone! Welcome to the downlow portion in this video. Today we’re going to be going over the Hellvape Drop Dead RDA. Let’s see what we got here. Turn the box around and you’ll see, goes over some of the features right here. On the bottom, I have the gunmetal Drop Dead RDA. Over here, you have your QR code with some social media branding as well. On the top, we got some Hellvape branding and on the back, we got a bunch of specs. Not sure if you’re going to be able to read that but we’re going to go over everything anyway so let’s get started.
Open the box up and inside, you will find a Drop Dead sticker. You have a Drop Dead manual in a bunch of different languages. Here is the RDA. We’re going to put that on deck for a second. Let me show you what comes in the rest of the packaging. You will receive a black flat-head screwdriver, a black Phillips head screwdriver and a hex key. Also, within that box is another Hellvape bag with a stainless-steel 510 drip tip adapter, a frosted drip tip. I have the solid pin in there but that’s where your squonking pin would be. I already swapped it out. And I have the flat-head grub screws in there because I already swapped them out for the Phillips head. I really wish this deck came with hex grub screws. I think that would have been much better but I’ll take Phillips head over flat head any day.
From Top to Bottom
Here is the RDA. Nice subtle branding over there, gunmetal on gunmetal. You got the Dead Rabbit logo and two double D’s over there. Beautiful, beautiful drip tip. Check it out. It’s got a matching bottom part that says Hellvape and it just matches the atomizer beautifully. They did a great job on that 810 style drip tip, goon style. All your other drip tips are going to fit in there just fine. You can see the o-ring in there. Beautiful Dead Rabbit knurling on the top here. That’s one of the best features of the Dead Rabbit, the OG one and I definitely like that.
Check out the airflow. The air flow is kind of cool because it’s got the Dead Rabbit configuration but it’s got the Drop type of holes. You got 14 holes on each side, going across the top of the barrel so you can see where they combine the Dead Rabbit and the Drop. If you turn the air flow, you can see, you can cut them off two at a time. See that? And there’s another cool feature as well, as you are cutting this airflow off, your coil is getting off-center because now, this part isn’t hitting the full center of your coil. Well, they developed a little notch, when I put it on the stand, I’ll show it to you, where you can make an adjustment and center your adjusted airflow in front of the coil. Pretty cool. They also did a faux Drop locking system right here. This really doesn’t lock it. It just makes it look like the drop but what it does is it gives you a reference point as to where the center of your coils are and that comes in handy with the locking barrel feature that I’ll show you in a second.
On the bottom of the atomizer, we got Drop Dead designed by Heathen and Brian from TVC. Gold-plated, squawking pin, insulator ring around it. Stainless steel threading, some hell of a branding over there, serial number over there. Inside the barrel here, see this? This is the notch system that I was telling you about. I’m going to show it to you once I throw a build in here. See this little notch right here? That’s going to allow you to center your airflow if you shut it down. So that’s kind of cool, man. That’s actually pretty ingenious.
Here is the top cap, held in place by one o-ring. O-ring has some really nice tension to it. It’s absolutely perfect. They got that ramped style where it’s ramping down the airflow. You see that? But you can purge on this one without shooting hot juice in your face. So glad to see that they fix that part of the OG Dead Rabbit. Nice job on that. Machining, overall, though, really really nice. They did a nice job on it. Here is your barrel section without the top cap. You can see, it’s a nice nicely machined barrel. It’s held up nice in my ultrasonic cleaner.
Let’s take a look at the deck now. Basically, what you see here is a Drop deck. I mean, there’s no two ways about it. They changed it a little bit but it’s basically a Drop deck. There’s your raised squonking pin right there. Two of your posts are gold-plated, two are stainless steel. Nice o-rings over here with some nice tension to them. You can see, I have the Phillips head grub screws installed but it does come pre-installed with the flat head and just like the OG Drop, you just loosen these up and you drop your coils in. Let’s put a build in this and let me show you what I’m talking about.
Coils were going to be using today, our Hawk Coils, fused Clapton, stainless steel. Shoutout to Hawk Coils. First thing I always like to do when I was building either the Drop or the Dead Rabbit, just kind of pre-cut your leads, kind of eyeball them a little bit just like that. Once you got them pre-cut a little bit, you just drop them in. Same thing over here, drop them in. Normally, what I do is I put my coiling rod in there and that’s that normally gives me a good grip so I can have them raised. Once you got them where you want them, you’re nice and gently tighten them down. You want to have them basically even with the other ones. Once you get them in there, you want them to look something like that.
Let’s give these a nice quick pulse. See where we’re ohming out at. There we go, that looks just about right now. Let’s wick this thing up.
Wicking material we’re going to be using today is Vaper’s Choice cotton. So you grab yourself a nice piece, nice and long. This cotton takes a while to get to learn how to work with it because it can be tough to work with. Feed it through just like that and you want to cut it right near the bottom of the base. Same thing on the other side and the same cut right at the bottom of the base. Now what you want to do is you want to take your cotton and you just want to tuck it in there nice and gently. Both sides of your wick. Same thing on the other side, nice and gently.
Juice we’re going to be using today is Vape Wild Hannibal’s Nectar. This stuff is fantastic. It’s like a fruit salad in your RDA. If you like fruity vapes, you’re going to of it. Next thing you want to do is you want to wet that cotton up. Get it nice and saturated. Get those coils saturated. Once you got it all wet, you might want to give it a little bit of a test-fire, see if you got vapor. Now we’re ready to cap it back up and put it on a mod.
Before we do that, though, I just wanted to show you what I was talking about with the airflow. Now, see how that airflow is centered right on that coil right now? But this barrel moves. So if I shut down the airflow, I can center it. I can center the barrel back on my coil. But it only moves so much, it only moves a little bit so that’s really kind of cool, man. That was actually ingenious. Good on you, Brian and Billy. That was a great job on that, really. Definitely impressed with that.
Let’s put this thing on a mod. Let’s cut back on top and let’s vape on it. See you back on top.
Alright, everyone! We’re back on top with the Hellvape Drop Dead. Now, I have to say, when I first saw that they were going to be collaborating on this, I really wasn’t sure that this collaboration really made sense. Let me explain why. You guys know I’m not a fan of the OG Dead Rabbit. It’s been a wildly successful RDA, just not my jam. I think it was super hyped and I think a lot of people bought in on the hype. That’s just my opinion. However, I was a fan of the Drop RDA and I do think it was groundbreaking and I think it kind of changed the game. So personally, I put the Drop up here and I put the Dead Rabbit like here. So for the two to combine like that, I kind of felt like the Drop was plunging down. I didn’t think the Dead Rabbit was up to the Drop stature. That’s just my opinion. There may be people out there that disagree.
To me, this RDA feels like Brian from the Vapor Chronicles, kind of stepped in and fixed everything that was wrong with the Dead Rabbit because that’s exactly the way I feel about this RDA. That’s not a knock on Billy. Billy, I’ve met him before, nice guy. He worked hard on the Dead Rabbit. It’s just not my thing. I also know Brian. I’ve met him a couple of times before and he worked hard on the Drop so I give those guys all the credit in the world. I’m not looking to knock either one of them now.
A lot of people think that this is a cash grab. I’ve seen it on the forums and everything like that because you guys know I’m active on the forums and I have to tell you, the Drop Dead is significantly different enough from the Dead Rabbit and the Drop that I can honestly say, it’s not a cash grab. It is a different type of vape so I don’t think it’s a cash grab at all. .I just think these two guys wanted to get together and combine their thoughts on two RDAs that are very similar yet vape very differently.
So let’s get into the cons and pros.
First con is going to be, look just like the Dead Rabbit. The coils are very close to your drip tip so if you drip from the top, or you’re over squonk, you’re going to get some spit back. That’s just the nature of the beast with that type of deck but it’s a con.
You have to take the top cap off in order to readjust your airflow. If you close down part of it, that’s a little bit of a pain in the neck. I wish they would have found the way around that. I’m going to give him a con for that.
I think you could have used a tad more airflow. I think one more line of airflow holes would have been really good on this one so I’m going to give them a con for that.
And the other con, the last con, and it’s a stupid con for two guys who have been in the vape game this long. Billy, Brian, no coils included? You guys kidding me, man?
And that’s it for the cons. Let’s move on to the pros because there’s plenty of them.
First thing you’re going to notice if you were a Dead Rabbit owner is you can actually purge with the Drop Dead without showering your cheeks with hot vape juice. So that’s kind of cool that they fix that. I’m going to give them a pro for that.
Really nice drip tips included and the stainless steel 510 drip tip adapter, pro.
Tons of colors on the release, pro.
Smooth airflow, pro.
Locking barrel system, pro.
It’s a great squonker and it’s a good dripper if you drip down the middle. So I’m going to give them a pro for that.
Easy to build and wick, pro.
I’m also going to tie in that this is a great deck for newbies because it is easy to build and wick. So that’s another pro.
Nice price point, 30 bucks for the quality you get. This thing’s a big win.
Takes pretty beefy coils because it’s got pretty big terminals. We’ll give them a pro for that.
Nice flavor and clouds, I’d say the flavor and clouds are very good. The clouds actually a fantastic. The flavor is very good.
It’s got a conical design on the interior, they’ll get a pro for that.
It’s got some really great build quality. This thing is put together really nicely and the finish on it is just fantastic. I love the knurling on the top cap that they took from the Dead rabbit, that’s a pro.
It’s got a Drop build deck, pro.
It’s got really nice o-ring tolerances all-around, pro.
Plenty of extras included. There just no coils but they give you plenty of other extras so that’s a pro.
And the last pro I have is I really like that raised squonking pin in the middle of the deck. I’m going to give them a pro for that as well.
