This one is definitely DeucesJack approved. It’s what I like to call a sleeper RTA. That’s why I try to review everything that they send me because every once in a while, you find a little gem like this one. You’re probably not going to see a lot of reviews on this tank. A lot of people are probably going to just be like, “Ah, HugsVape, whatever!” and they’re going to push it to the side but I’m telling you, this is a great dual coil RTA. Definitely check it out if you’re into flavor and clouds.
What’s up, everyone? DeucesJack at vapinginsider.com. Have you been feeling a little lonely lately? Maybe a little depressed? Do you need a hug? Because if you need a hug, I got one for you. We got the HugsVape Lotus RTA. Don’t know where they come up with these names. 24mm RTA dual coil. Comes in black, stainless steel, gunmetal, gold and rainbow. Comes with a 2ml straight glass and a 5ml bubble glass.
Let’s cut down low. Let me show you the HugsVape Lotus RTA up-close-and-personal. We’ll drop a build in it. I’m going to wick it. I’m going to juice it up. We’ll come back on top. We’re going to vape on it, cons, pros and then we’ll hug it out. See you down low.
What’s In The Box
From Top To Bottom
Alright, everyone! Welcome to the down low portion of this video. Today, we’re going to be going over the HugsVape Lotus RTA. I don’t know where they come up with these names with these companies. A little bit of coding there for Instagram and Facebook, for apps. On the back, you’ll see the contents are one Lotus RTA, 810 drip tip, bubble glass and a spare parts bag. Let’s open this up. Let’s take a look at the Lotus. It comes in 2ml mode, pre assembled. If you add the bubble glass, you will get 5mls in there. In the box, you will receive a tri tool, some spare o-rings, 510 drip tip adapter and some spare deck screws.
Let’s take a look at the RTA itself. Sorry for some condensation. I wish HugsVape would have sent me two so I got a clean one to work. I hate when companies only send me one. Here is the 810 drip tip. It’s comfortable but it’s definitely on the cheap side. I would have rather add something more substantial like a resin style drip tip. But it’s okay, it’s comfortable. I wish they would have done a better job on the quality of it.
Inside here, you can see, there’s the o-ring there. Not crazy about this tapered up platform. The problem is not all your aftermarket goons are going to look good on it. You might have some overhang on some of them. Definitely not a fan of that. Would have liked to have seen it flat. Over here, see this little indicator marking right there? I don’t know if you can see that. All you do is pop it forward. You’ll see this little latch right here? See that? That goes into there and kind of locks it down. I like to call it, it looks like a toilet seat. The toilet seat type of top fill. I don’t mind this type of top fill. It’s actually pretty good.
Nice size juice filling ports right here. You can get a bullnose bottle in there but you got to make sure you jam it in so you don’t make a mess. Needle nose bottles will do fine. Nice gasket over here. I did not see a spare gasket and I definitely would have liked to have seen that. That’s a no-no. HugsVape, you should have included a spare. On the airflow control ring, we have a nice tolerance. Stoppers on both ends, whatever you do on one side happens on the other side. A little bit of light knurling here. Not a bad job on that either.
On the bottom side of the RTA, we have some Lotus branding, some HugsVape branding and their website. Gold-plated 510 connection with an insulator ring around it. Stainless steel threading here is very smooth. So far, this has sat flush on all my mods. There is the deck, we’ll go over that in a second.
First thing you want to do is you want to swap out that glass and go with the 5mls. You’ll notice the inside of the barrel portion here, very, very conical design. I like that. That’s conducive to great flavor. Threading here is very, very smooth. They did a nice job on that. Problem with this tank is, though, when you put the bubble glass on, there’s really not a lot holding it in place. That o-ring should have been thicker or they should have put some type of metal ledge there because if you have to open this up to mess with your coil or you want to rework or something, while you got half a tank in there, you got to be very careful not to touch this because the glass moves way too easily when you have to mess with your build.
Here are your airflow slots right here. They’re kind of like a cradle that you put the coil into. Here are your terminals right here, nice and big. You can get some flat wire builds in there for sure. I like the deck. It’s kind of innovative you have these open wicking slots right here. You can see the threading ends and it continues over there. Kind of like a GTA style deck. You can see, the deck is raised up above the base a little bit. Definitely interesting. Kind of like a, almost like a dual chi-lin type of deck. They did a nice job with that, they really did.
Building And Wicking
So basically, what you want to do is you want to get your coils in there, something like that. Don’t worry about placement yet. Put your finger on them, take your screwdriver and just start tightening down your leads. Like I’ve always said in all my videos, don’t tighten them down like a gorilla. You don’t have to go crazy on them. Just want to get them nice and hand tight. Once you got them in place, then you can go around and give them a last tightening. So you kind of want to pull them as close as you can to that airflow. Same thing on this side, just get them there. Make sure you’re not touching the actual airflow slot so you’re not shorting out. You see, they should look something like that. Really, really close. Right now, we’re ohming out at 0.1 ohms. We’ll see if we have any hot spots. Got a couple and there we go. We’re already glowing evenly.
Wicking material we’re going to be using is Cotton Bacon Prime. One thing I like about Cotton Bacon Prime is they give you a nice length. They come pre-cut and you get a really nice length for two coils. Let’s get one end a little bit on the pointy side. Feed it through, just like so. Where I like to cut the cotton is I want to cut it right at that o-ring right there. Right at the o-ring that holds the glass in place. You want to give it a cut right there. Do the same thing on the other side and that’s how it should look once you’re all wicked up.
Once you juice this up, you want to do this a little differently than you do some RTAs. What I like to do is I like to wet the wicks first because you kind of got to mold these wicks into those open juice ports. Once your wicks are all wet, you kind of want to make sure you separate them. You don’t want them being together like that because they’re going to be in their own slots and you just want to tuck them in with your coiling tool. But you want to make sure those wicks are not getting on the threading over there. That’s very important because otherwise, you’re going to have a tough time getting the bottom, the base part off if you catch any cotton in that threading. So make sure you’re in there but you’re not along the threading. Make sure that part is clean and just mold them in there. That’s what you do on each side.
That’s it. Now you’re ready to put your tank back together. Put the glass on. Take your chimney section and put it over it nice and gently. Now we’re ready to fill it up. Take your juice bottle, pop it in there. Give it a squeeze, you’ll see, it’s filling up nicely and now we’re ready to vape on it.
Alright, everyone! We’re back on top with the HugsVape Lotus RTA. You saw it down low. Nice looking deck, digging that cradle type of thing where it cradles the bottom of your coil and you’re getting all that good airflow from the bottom of the coil. GTA style deck, I like that. Easy to build and wick. Lovin that condensed conical barrel that goes around your coil. I think that contributes to the phenomenal flavor that this RTA puts out. Smooth airflow, I think it’s a really, really good RTA. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying it.
Let’s go to the cons and pros. There’s a couple of cons but mostly pros.
First con is going to be, HugsVape, what were you thinking about making a 2 ml glass with a dual coil RTA? You should have just put two bubble glasses in this thing and be done with it. Yeah, I got it. The whole TPD thing but you want to know something? I don’t give a shit about TPD. I’m in America. I could care less how you have to market it to the rest of the world. The bottom line is if you’re going to ship the tanks here, it should’ve came with two bubble glasses.
Other con is going to be the drip tip. Very comfortable but it’s got a very cheap feel to it. I wish they would have went with a more substantial, nicer drip tip that kind of justifies being on a nice tank like this. I think they sold themselves short with the drip tip, I really do, even though it’s comfortable.
I’m not a fan of that tapered top. That’s going to be another con. That top part of the of the top fill cap there, the way it tapers up like a cone, they should have made the taper shorter and made it a little bit of wider because when you go use aftermarket goon trip tips on this, some of them might have overhanging. I don’t like that. I would have rather seen some a flatter type of top cap.
The last con is going to be that glass. It comes off way too easy. They should have put a much thicker o-ring on there. So if I got to mess with my coil or my build while the tank is half filled, I don’t have any chance of knocking the tank over and spilling everything out of it because it’s just too flimsy the way it is.
Let’s get on to the pros because there’s plenty of them.
First pro, I already touched on it, flavor on this is excellent. Great job on that.
We’re also going to give it a pro for the build quality. Very nicely built. Finish on it is really nice. Threading is super smooth.
We’ll give them a pro because of the top cap, the way it has that toilet seat locking top cap. I dig it. Reminds me of the scents tanks. Great job on that.
We’re going to give them a pro for the bubble glass. Nice capacity with the bubble glass, I like that.
I’m going to give them a pro because this is the first time I’ve heard of HugsVape and I think it’s a great first effort. Good on you, HugsVape.
510 drip tip adapter, let’s give them a pro for that.
Cloudage, not only does this have great flavor but it produces nice cloud. We’ll give them a pro for that.
Easy to build and wick, pro. You saw it down low. This thing has no problem at all.
And the last pro is going to be 24mm in diameter. Looks good on most mods. I think it looks great on my Squid Industries double-barrel.
