First Impression Out of the Box
DeucesJack:What’s up everybody. DeucesJack at vapinginsider.com. Today I got a nice one for you. Today I have the Innokin Proton kit. I don’t want to waste a lot of time because I got a lot to go over. I have a mod and a tank to go over. Let’s cut downlow. We’re going to go over it up close and personal. We’ll come back on top. Talk about it, cons, pros, we’re out of here. See you downlow.
What’s in the Box
- 1 Proton 235W Box Mod
- 1 Scion 2 Sub-Ohm Tank
- 1 0.36ohm Plexus Coil
- 1 0.15ohm Plexus Coil
- 1 Spare 5mL Glass Tube
- 1 Spare Drip Tip
- 1 MicroUSB Charging Cable
- Extra O-Ring Bag
- Instructional Manual
All right everyone. Welcome to the downlow portion of this video. Today we’re going to be going over the Innokin Proton kit. Look at that man. Little bit of proton branding over there.
On the back side, tells you what we have. We have one Proton mod, one Scion II tank with 0.36 ohm coil, one Scion Mesh coil, 0.15 ohm. Micro USB charging cable, spare glass, 5ml, spare Wide Bore drip tip, spare o-ring set, vape band, user packet.
Let’s see what we got. Here’s your scratching check right here to see if you’re authentic. Always love Innokin’s packaging. Very apple esque all the time.
Slip the cardboard cover off, you got some Proton branding here. Nice little pull tab over there. Here are your accessories. Here’s your mod. Let’s check out what’s on the left side of the box first.
We have an Innokin vape band, file that to the side. Here is all your paperwork, Innokin warning and safety manual. Warranty card, Innokin battery care guide. I like that. Some Innokin stickers, file all that to the side. Nice white USB charging and update cable. Here’s your quickstart guide. They always do nice job with all their manuals and stuff. Let’s file all that to the side.
Open it up, we have some more Innokin paperwork. Here is your mod. We’re going to put that to the side for now. Here is your spare glass. Nice job on that with the kit. And here is your spare drip tip.
This is the coil that you get. This is the 0.36ohm Kanthal coil. Markings on the coil itself. Good for 80 to 150 watts for your Scion tank. Little bit of Innokin branding. There you can see we got some nice cotton and coils over there. Big juice port slots over here. This is a pretty big coil. We’re going to put that one to the side for now.
From Top to Bottom
Here is your Scion tank. This is your drip tip right here. It’s an 810 drip tip but it’s the 810 Smok style with the o-rings on the drip tip itself. Smok drip tips do fit in it. Let’s put that to the side for a second.
Nice platform here right. Some Innokin branding. Love this push to fill right there with an arrow. Slider style top cap, all you do is push like that to slide it open. I do wish the fill port was a little bigger. You really can only use needle nose bottles. Bullnose bottles will not allow enough air to escape and you’re going to make a mess.
But you want to know something? They did a nice job with the slider because it has some resistance to it. It’s not the type that might open up in your pocket fairly easily. I do wish there was a locking mechanism but there is not.
On the bottom, we have the bottom airflow. Very clicky, 1 2 3 4, four clicks close it all the way. Stoppers on both ends. Whatever you adjust on one side happens on the other side.
On the bottom, there is absolutely no branding. We do have a stainless steel 510 connection with an insulator ring. Stainless steel threading over here.
I have used this tank on other mods and it does sit flush. Now, in order to replace your coil. Simply twist like you do with every other sub ohm tank and out comes your coil.
You can see that the chimney attaches directly to your coil. If you’ll notice inside there, that is a mesh coil. Yes, Innokin has entered the mesh game. Plenty of cotton in there. Big juice slots over here. So you boil wicks correctly. We got a 0.15 ohm Kanthal. Good for 60 to 110 watts.
I’ve been rocking this thing right at around 85 watts and I got to say the flavor is just some next level stuff. Right up there with the Falcon mesh coil. Really nice job on this coil.
In order to replace your coil like every other sub ohm tank, you just give it a twist and it comes right out. Machining on the, on the base and the whole tank is just really really nice. Very well done. What I come to expect from Innokin.
Let me put this whole thing back together. And we’re going to show it to you all put together. There is the kit. Here is your one button on the mod to control things. It’s a fire bar. I got a little bit of a dent here because I’ve been using the hell out of it. Carbon fiber faux type of carbon fiber texture to it. Nice job on that.
Some Innokin branding and your USB port right there for charging and updates. And this is how the whole package looks together. Really nice job on that. It’s a good looking mod.
Let’s go over the 510 as usual. The top side of the mod, we have four-star screws holding the top plate in place. Here we have a gold-plated spring loaded. 510 connection right. Stainless steel threading over here. I don’t know why they didn’t center this 510 connection. This mod would have been almost perfect if they would have pulled this 510 back just a little bit.
But overall, I got to tell you, I’ve really been enjoying this thing okay.
Here’s your screen. We’re going to show you that in a minute after we load some batteries. Here is your battery door. Push out and up and it opens up. As you can see, clear battery indicator markings, plus and minus over here. Gold-plated button style contacts marked A and B. If you look down the tube you can see a plus and minus sign. Those contacts on the bottom are spring loaded and gold-plated.
Okay, let’s put some batteries in. Positive side over here, negative side over here. Push down and in. You see some venting over here, nice job on that.
Now in order to turn this mod on, three clicks and you’re on. Menu system on this is super easy but let’s go over the screen first. Batteries A and B over here. Here is your wattage. Here is your puffs in seconds, voltage mode and resistance.
A little bit of Innokin branding in the corner. In order to navigate this and change your wattage, hold the joystick up. You’ll see your wattage blinking. Now you can just scroll in half watt increments all the way up to 235 watts. It does round robin.
And that’ll work too if left or right. If you want to scroll left or right or right, up or down, it works either way. Let’s put it back to 70 watts where I was.
In order to enter the menu system, you push the joystick in three times. Now you can see I have a choice between coil, TCR, curve, bypass and settings. If I push the joystick in a while, coil is highlighted. I can change my modes. You can see I have stainless steel 316 wattage. Titanium nickel 200 or I can just pick the same. Let’s pick stainless steel.
There you can see, I’m set at 500 degrees. If I push up, I can change the degrees in 5 degree increments. Now if I want to change the wattage, all I do is hold the down until I see it blinking. Now I can change it up or down by holding the joystick left or right in half watt increments.
Let’s go back into our screen. Now if I want to adjust my TCR, I simply go in here and adjust my TCR. If I wanted to go to my wattage curve, that’s where you do it.
If I wanted to go into bypass mode, you go over there. If I want to go into settings, you hit the joystick. Here’s where you can adjust your vape cut off time. Here’s where you can adjust when your screen times out or the brightness. I have mine timing out in 15 seconds. If I want to push that up I can. You can push it all the way up to, let’s see, a 180 seconds. I normally keep mine at around 90.
Here’s where I pick Celsius or Fahrenheit. Here’s where I can pick the colors that I want my screen to show. You have a choice between blue, pink, red, white, purple, green and that’s it. I normally leave it in green. I like green for some reason.
And that’s it. Let’s cut back on top. Let’s talk about it. Will vape on it, cons, pros and then we’re out of here. Sew you back on top.
All right everyone, we’re back on top with the Innokin Proton Kit. I tell you man, I love the form factor on this thing. 85 x 44 x 29.6mm. 235 watts. 300 to 600 degrees Fahrenheit and TC, 2 amp charging. Fires down as low as 0.05ohms. 1.45 inch color display. Love the clicky fire bar. Comes in six colors. Really nice job on that. The preheat memory slots, NI, TI, SS, it’s got curve mode, it’s got bypass mode. I mean this thing’s got it all.
Let’s get to the official cons and pros cause I got a lot to go over.
First con’s going to be that 510. Really wish they would have centered it. Going to give them a con for that.
Next con is going to be, the menu system could have definitely used a back button on all the screens, they’ll get a con for that.
Going to give them a con for the spare straight glass. Why include a bubble glass and give me a spare straight. That’s a downgrade. I like that they gave me a spare but I’d rather a spare bubble. Con on that okay.
I’m also going to give them a con on the plastic screen cover. Not only is it a fingerprint magnet but it scratches very easily. Con on that.
Let’s get into the pros cause there’s a plenty of them. First pro is going to be awesome tank. This Scion II tank is fantastic.
Going to give them a pro on the capacity with the bubble glass installed. 5ml capacity. Great job on that.
Let’s give them a pro on the awesome mesh coils. One of the better mesh coils on the market. Pro on that.
Can we give them a pro on the 3 clicks on. I like that. Different than the 5 clicks on.
Simple menu system. They’re going to get a pro on that.
Back on the tank, we’re giving them a pro on smooth airflow. Pro for that.
Really good TC mod. Pro okay.
Preheat mode, pro.
Memory functions, they’re going to get a pro on that.
Curve mode, I don’t use it but other people do, pro.
The chipset overall is fine, fantastic. Pro on that. Firmware upgradeable, pro without a doubt.
Nice big screen, they’re getting a pro on that. Clicky fire button, going to give them a pro on that.
Form factor, awesome form factor. You can finger fire it. Turn it around, thumb fire it, palm fire it. Whatever you want they’ll get a pro on that.
I like the texture here, pro. Very small for a dual 18650 mod, pro.
You can run a 30mm tank on top without much overhang. 28 with no overhang, pro for that.
I’m going to give them a pro on the overall screen layout. They did a great job on that.
And that’s it. That’s all I got for you today. This one was sent to me directly from Innokin. We’ll have a link down below as to where you can buy it. We’ll also have a link down below to the juice that I used today by Yami Vapor Chibi Bar, Chibi Bar Choconola. Fantastic. Granola bar with chocolate chips.
