Is it a Geekvape Zeus X killer? Hell no, man! Let me tell you something, this thing is a piece of shit. Not so much the actual tank but the deck section is what really kills this atomizer. It’s so poorly put together, my resistance is jumping all over the place, that’s a big no-no. I just can’t legitimately recommend this to anyone. Even if you’ve seen it in the bargain bin for like 8-10 bucks, I would say stay away from this thing. And it’s very disappointing to me because it’s actually a really good looking RTA, I love the looks of it. It’s kind of like you walk up to a vet with a really nice paint job, that thing looks fantastic, it’s all shined up and polished. You pop the hood and you see a hamster on a treadmill. Well that’s what this deck is, this deck is a hamster on a treadmill. Kaees, you should be ashamed of yourself for putting something like this out. This is just a horrible, horrible deck for such a beautiful tank.
What’s up, Insiders? Today, we’re going to be going over a top airflow RTA, we’re talking about the Kaees Solomon 3. They’re on the third version already. I don’t think I got the first two. But the big question on this one is, it’s a top airflow tank, is it a Zeus X killer? Is the third time a charm for Kaees? Make sure you watch the whole review, find out exactly what I think.
Before we get into the video, make sure you check out our new merch site. You can get my tagline on a shirt or a hoodie.
What’s In The Box
- 1 KAEES Solomon 3 25mm RTA
- 1 3.5mL Spare Glass Tube
- 1 5.5mL Bubble Glass
- 2 Internal Airflow Top Caps
- 2 Clapton Coils
- 1 510 Drip Tip Adapter
- 1 Screwdriver
- 1 Spare Parts
- 1 User Manual
Also included in the packaging is you get this little card that goes over two different air flow caps. Here is your single coil air flow cap. You get a bag of goodies, you get a Phillips head black screw driver, you get a 510 drip tip adapter, some spare o-rings, some spare deck screws and some rather decent looking coil. Here is your spare straight glass.
Here is that airflow cap I’m talking about. Basically, this is like a removable barrel section because this is a top airflow tank and this actually goes over your coil when you’re running it in single coil mode.
From Top To Bottom
Check it out. Not a bad looking tank. I’m diggin that lion with the crown. Nice-looking emblem, kind of cool. Nice big wide drip tip over here, it is an 810 goon style drip tip. The only thing is, you see that little platform there? This has a recession in there, I don’t know if you can see that, that when you slap this on, it goes over that little ring, that little platform, some of your other goons may not go over that platform but they will fit, you’re just going to see a little bit of a blue raised platform. So just keep that in mind.
Top airflow tank. Here’s your airflow adjustment right here. Really nice knurling over here, allows you to get a grip. It does have stoppers on both ends. Whatever you adjust on one of the top air flow of course will happen on the other side. Comes with the bubble glass pre-installed.
Now, of course, because this is a top airflow tank, you’re not going to see any bottom airflow slots over here. On the bottom, you’ll see it says Solomon 3. You’ve got a stainless steel 510, insulator ring around that, stainless steel threading around it all. There’s also some Kaees branding right there. They continue the knurling on the bottom here, really, really nice, I do like it, you do get a nice grip on it. The machining, it feels a little thin, the threading feels a little thin on it, I have to admit.
Now, let me show you how this works. See down there? Your air flow is going to come from here and what it’s going to do is, you got a little bit of a conical design over there, especially for a top airflow tank, it’s going to come from there, it’s going to slide down, hit this dome here and go and hit the sides of your coils. Now, of course, I have the dual coil airflow cap installed here, you can see, it’s got a little bit of a design on it. Now, how this works is you slide it back and up. Do you see the little grooves right there? That’s where that part is going to slide on. That’s very, very tiny, very tough to see. What you do is when you put the cap on, make sure both sides goes in even like that and then, you see that little groove right there? It locks in, just like that. So I just wanted to show you that.
Now, what do we got here, we got kind of like a postless style deck. The deck, man, it looks kind of chintzy and cheap, I wasn’t impressed with it when I saw it. You see all those machine marks and everything? I’m just not impressed with the quality of the deck itself. Everything on it just looks very thin and cheap. Including the grub screws, look at those grub screws, it’s a 1.3mm grub screws. I can’t remember the last time I got a deck with a 1.3mm grub screw, they’ve always been 1.5 to some are even 2.5 but, man, 1.3, that’s like a throwback grub screw, it really is. We’re going back to RBA head decks.
So in order to build this thing, you open it up right there. You can see, these are your wicking ports right there. Kind of like a GTA style deck but they put the ring around it to retain the cotton, I do like that, I like when they do that, I don’t like when it’s open. So, you open up these terminals right here, just like that.
I want to show you something on this because I don’t even think I can go any further with this review because this thing is just a total fail. Watch this. I’m heating up the coils. First of all, this one isn’t even heating evenly. And then, if I scrape them, see the resistance jumping? I’ve never ever seen that happen on an atomizer before. There’s no jump cuts. Are you looking at this? What the hell is going on here? Now, I said when I first took this out of the box that this deck feels cheap, watch when I fire it. Watch what happens. Look at this resistance, look at this Shit. Now it’s down to 0.19 and if I scrape it, I can scrape it up to a 1.6.
I’ll be honest with you, man, I don’t even feel safe using this. This video just went from a review to a public service announcement of not to buy this thing. I just want to show you, look how off that peek insulator is, the whole block is off. This thing is just garbage, it really is. I’m going to take the coils out. I can’t even get the coils out because this thing stripped. Let’s take a look at this thing before we go any further. Man, I felt it as soon as I took this out of the box, I’m like, “This deck feels cheap, it almost feels kind of loose.” I said it as soon as I took this thing out of the box, man. I saw those machine marks and look how loose that is, I’ve never seen a deck do that before. I can’t believe it. Look how loose that is. This thing feels like it’s going to collapse. This thing is just a janky piece of shit, that’s how I would describe it. So once you got your coils in there, you want to dry burn them. You can see, I’m at 0.21 right now. A couple of little hotspots. We’re going to scrape them out down to 0.16. Scrape them out again, and that’s where we ended up, around 0.16 and we’re glowing evenly.
Wicking And Juicing
Let’s wick this thing up. Take a little cotton strip, make it pointy on one end, nice and pointy, pull it right through, make sure you got some nice tension, just like that. Same thing on the other side, pull it right through, make sure you got some nice tension. Now, where you want to cut this, see where this ring starts? That’s where you want to cut this. You want to cut it right there. Same thing on the other side, just like so. And we can even it out, just like that, clean it up a little bit. Now, what you want to do, you want to take whatever tool you use, right now I’m going to use a coiling rod, and just gently get those ends tucked in, just like so. See how nice and loose that is? See that? That’s how you want it. Same thing on the other side, that’s how you want it.
Juice we’re going to be using today, Blue Ribbon Pie Guys Key Lime Pie. They make a strawberry, blueberry or peach. All their pie vapes are fantastic. Check them out if you get a chance.
So now, the first thing we want to do, we want to get those coils and that cotton nice and wet, get it nice and saturated, get it started. And you may want to tilt it, get a little there. If the cotton’s hanging below there, nothing wrong with that. Get a little bit right below there, make sure you get that cotton nice and saturated. Don’t worry about using too much juice, that’ll burn off. Just get it nice and wet. And now, we got to see if we have vape. Oh yeah, we have vape. Let’s put this thing together and see how it tastes. I’ll tell you right now, it smells great.
So now, what we got to do is, normally, in a situation like this, you just pop the build right in but we can’t do that because we have to put our cap on. It’s a little bit of a pain in the neck because it’s hard to see and it’s hard to get both sides in at one time. Like that, there we go. Now we’re all ready to vape. Check that thing out.
Alright, let’s put it in the tank. In order to install it, you just pop it in there, just like that. Do a little reverse so you make sure it catches and then just screw it right on. Again, threading is a little thin, I wish the overall build quality on this tank was better. It looks really nice but machining wise and build quality wise, not the greatest.
I don’t think we went over it, this is your top fill cap right here, there are your two fill port hole. Just take your juice bottle, pop it in there and give it a squeeze. Fill that bubble glass all the way up. Also a little bit of a recession here just in case you do go over, make a mess, I do like that. Now, once that is all done, take your top cap, give it a little reverse thread and pop it right there. Now it’s all filled up and ready to vape.
But let’s move on to the pros because it does have a few pros.
The shape of it, man, it’s a good-looking RTA. It’s just all show and no go, baby!
It’s relatively easy to build, we’ll give it a pro for that.
The airflow, when it’s wide open, that’s smooth, man. It’s smooth. Why couldn’t you do that throughout the whole airflow range? The airflow wide open is smooth as it gets but you shut that thing down, and this thing gets loud.
I like the capacity on it, it’s got good capacity.
Another shame with this RTA is it actually has decent flavor when it works right when my resistance isn’t jumping all over the place.
And the last pro is going to be they did include a 510 drip tip adapter.
So that’s it, Insiders! That’s it on the cons and pros. Let’s get into the original question.
Alright, Insiders! Let’s get into them cons and pros. We got a lot to go over on this one.
First con is going to be the deck on this one, really, really small, the post holes are small. Monster coils need not apply, it’s a con.
It’s an inherent con to top airflow tanks, they just don’t have the flavor, it’s just not there in my opinion when compared to bottom or side airflow on a tank, it’s a con.
Only one bubble glass, you guys know how I feel about that, con.
That airflow, man. That air flow is loud when you cut it down. Let me show it to you fully wide open. You hear that? That’s smooth. Now, if I cut it down a little bit more than halfway, listen.
Another one of these tank, you could whistle dixie on. What is this? Doubling as a rape whistle, Kaees? Are you kidding me with that airflow? Give me a break, man, it’s a huge con.
And the last con is going to be, and it’s a big con as well, that deck. The construction of the deck
just seems to really be on the cheap side, man. It doesn’t look like they used quality materials. They’re not staying in there. My resistance is constantly jumping around on this RTA, I’m constantly taking it off, I’m taking a flat head screwdriver, I’m tightening that pin down because it just doesn’t seem to hold, my resistance is all over the freakin place with this thing. Kaees, what the hell were you guys thinking? You put together a piece of garbage like this? I can’t deal with atomizers where my resistance is not accurate and it’s jumping around all over the place, it’s a huge, huge con. You guys should have put more thought and more quality into the deck, it’s a bad job on your part.
That’s it on the cons, as if that isn’t enough, I mean, I’ve never seen such a cheap deck like this in my life. Cheap deck screws, cheap materials, it just doesn’t hold well, it’s a horrible, horrible job by Kaees.
