First Impression Out of the Box
DeucesJack: What’s up, everyone? DeucesJack at vapinginsider.com. I’ve got another pod system for you but I got something a little different today. This one has a DNA chip. Yeah, in a pod system, a DNA chip. Can you imagine that? It has the DNA Go chip set. It’s evolves chipset for a pot. This is the Lost Vape Orion. No dry hits, legitimate mount-to-lung or DL hit on this thing.
Is it the best pod system on the market right now? Let’s cut down low. Let me show it to you up close and personal. Then we’ll come back on top and we’ll talk about it, see if it actually is the best. I’m going to see you down low.
Alright, everyone! Welcome to the down low portion of this video. Today, we’re going over the Lost Vape Orion pod system. Yeah man, a DNA pod system. Check it out. Has the replay feature, Lost Vape branding over there. This has the evolved DNA Go chipset, that’s their pod chipset, some more lost vape branding.
What’s in the Box
- 1 Lost Vape Orion DNA Go
- 1 Lost Vape Orion Lanyard
- 1 MicroUSB Cable
- 1 Instructional Manual
On the back of the box, you’ll see, you get one Orion, you get one USB cable. Pods are not included, big, big con, Lost Vape, big mistake. Let’s open this thing up. On the side of the box is where you have your barcode as well as your scratch and check. Kind of neat, the way they did the owner’s manual the same way as the box. Definitely some nice continuity there. I like that. Owner’s manual is very simple. You can see, goes over everything pretty simply, goes over replay feature, shows you the two different pod systems, the locking system, we’re going to go over all of it. Goes over the lights for the batteries here, shows you what the different indicator lights stand for. Pause it here if you want to read that. Very, very well-done owner’s manual.
Here is another sort of guide that tells you about replay mode and how to prime your coil. We’ll go over that as well. Let’s put all this to the side. This is kind of neat. They give you this lanyard, nice long lanyard and what you do is this rubber piece goes around your mod and then you can hang it around your neck. That’s really not my jam but you know what, I guess there are some people that would hang it around their neck. So if you’re that type of vaper, you’re good to go. Nice little micro USB cable, black braided. Lost Vape always does a good job with that.
From Top to Bottom
Let’s get into the actual mod itself. Real carbon fiber panels, check that out. Just beautiful, right? Orion branding over there. Now this is weird, this is your lock switch for your pod. See that? See how that pulls that in like that? I keep hitting that part as the fire button just out of force of habit. This is actually your fire button. I wish they would have swapped locations or something like that because I’m never hitting it here. I’m always hitting it there.
Here is basically your mode button. You can switch between your presets with this button. If you hold it for three seconds, you can also go into replay mode. Kind of cool. On the bottom, we got some venting. On the side, nothing much going on. On this side, we have some Lost Vape branding and some more real carbon fiber. This thing feels great in your hand, just phenomenal. In the middle of the mod here, you can see, we have two gold plated pins. They will make contact with the gold-plated contacts on your pod that I will show you in a minute. This is kind of neat, right here. See this, right here? Look at that. That’s your micro USB port. You can use that for charging and to hook your mod up to e-scribe. Now, the one thing with this my, I know a lot of people don’t like messing around with a computer but if you want to get the most out of this mod, you want to get 30W out of it, the factory presets aren’t going to do it for you. You are going to have to hook it up to e-scribe.
Let me show you the pods. This is the 0.25 ohm, stainless steel pod. This is the direct lung pod. There are your gold contacts that coincide with the contacts on the mod. Drip tip is non removable. It seems like a 510. I don’t know why they didn’t make it removable. Here is your adjustable airflow, right here. It can be a pain to get your fingers in there and adjust it especially while it’s on the mod. It really can. This is your fill port, right here.
In order to fill it up, all you do, take that off and fill her up. Once you’re done, put it back in. Holds 2mls juice, tighten it up and that’s it. You can, I don’t know if you can see that on camera, you might be able to see the cotton. Can you see that? See the cotton in there? It’s definitely a lot clearer in person than it is on camera. Here is the other type of pod you can get with it. You can get the 0.5 ohm mouth-to-lung coil. They’re clearly marked and the mod actually knows the difference. It knows which one you put on there and it acts accordingly. Same drip tip, though, same airflow, the whole nine yards. Holds 2mls. Really, really neat. Just very disappointed at this price point that the pods don’t come included. That’s absolutely ridiculous, Lost Vape.
In order to install the pod, this is the way I do it. You can kind of lean it in there and force it down and it will click in. But I really don’t like doing that so what I do is I pull the lock switch down. I push it in and then I let it snap back up like that and then it’s installed. That’s what it looks like installed with the pod. Now you’ll notice, I beat this thing up a little bit already. I’ve been using the hell out of it. As far as I’m concerned, this is the best damn pod system on the market.
So now, this is five clicks on, five clicks off. If I want to see what my battery life is doing, watch the little light down here. I clicked the fire button twice and you’ll see, it flashed in green. That means I’m between 90 and 100 percent now. If I want to go between different modes, I just hit this button right here. White is my lowest mode that I have it set on e-scribe. Light blue is my second lowest, blue is my middle mode. This like pinkish is my second to strongest and red is my hottest. You can customize all these colors on e-scribe. You can put up the five presets on it and you can go up to 30W. Kind of neat, man. It really is. Like I said, you want to turn it off, 1 2 3 4 5, it blinks a little bit and now it’s off.
That’s it folks. That’s all I got for you on the Lost Vape Orion. Let’s cut back on top. Let’s talk about it. Let’s vape on it, we’re going to go over cons and pros and then we’re out of here. See you back on top.
Alright everyone we’re back on top with the Lost Vape Orion pod system. Man, you saw this thing down low. This thing is legit. 950 mAh internal battery, typical, awesome Lost Vape build quality. 2ml capacity, 30W maximum output, 40W if you use the boost. It’s the best damn pod system on the market. Period, end of story. It comes in carbon fiber, ocean scallop and abalone. You can pick the different colored frames. It comes in stainless steel, black, gold and blue.
Let’s get into the cons and the pros.
The first con is going to be you can’t use your own drip tip. Lost Vape, what the hell were you thinking? This looks like a regular 510 drip tip why didn’t you just make it replaceable? I don’t understand. It just doesn’t make any sense to me.
The other con is going to be the battery is not serviceable and I don’t understand. You’re asking me to spend 60-70. I’ve been seeing it anywhere between 60 and 80 bucks on different websites. You’re asking me to spend $60 or more on a pod system. You should have made some type of removable tray or something like on a smartphone, where I can pull out the tray and replace the battery if I have to. Maybe I got to take two screws off to get to the battery but something that was easily accessible and you can service the battery on it because I’ll tell you what, when the battery does go on this one, it’s going to be a goddamn shame to throw this frame out. It really is. So that’s going to be a big con.
The units are expensive. Like I said, I’ve been seeing them anywhere for around 65-$70. That is expensive for a pod system. You do need e scribe to get everything out of it so that’s going to be a con. It’s not a con for me, I have no problem navigating a scribe but there are people out there who just don’t want to be bothered. So we’re going to give it a con for that.
The air flow, sometimes it’s tough to get your fingers in there and adjust it so we’re going to give them a con for that.
And the last con is going to be and this is another huge con. This and the battery not being serviceable are huge cons to me. No pods, I mean really? Are you guys freaking kidding me? You’re going to ask people to spend 65 bucks on this thing and then go spend another 10 bucks on pods? That’s kind of ridiculous. So you need $75 to get started on this. That’s a ridiculous price point. You know what? Even if you just charge me 75 and you put the pods in the kit, I’d be happier. The fact that I got to go and purchase separate pods is annoying and it just doesn’t sit well with me mentally. So I’m definitely giving them a con for that. You know, though, you could have at least put one pod in there that wouldn’t have been right either but it’s better than no pods. Lost vape, You’re getting a con on that one.
Let’s move on to the pros because there’s plenty of them.
First pro is going to be adjustable settings via Escribe, pro.
Adjustable airflow, that’s a pro.
Replay mode, pro. The build quality, the real carbon fiber, that’s a pro.
No leaks and no weeping on any of the pods. I’m giving them a pro for that.
It charges fast, pro.
It’s easy to fill up, pro.
It hits fast, I’m going to give them a pro for that.
Looks awesome, this thing is just a classy looking mod. I got no problem going to a really nice restaurant and putting this on the table. It doesn’t look childish. It doesn’t look gaudy. It looks classy. We’re going to give them a pro for that.
Form-factor, that’s a pro.
Capacity, 2ml capacity, pro.
We’re going to give them a pro for the vape quality on this thing. The vape quality is fantastic. The pods lasts long. I think I’m on my seventh or eighth Phillip already, pro.
The pods are actually cheap considering the build quality of the mod. $9 for two, not a bad price point. It really isn’t. Like I said, man.
