Alright everyone, we’re back on top with the Recoil Rebel by Grimm Green And Ohm Boy OC. I’m rocking it on top of the Vaporesso Polar. I’ve been using this thing for quite some time now. 25mm RDA, 3.5 mm juice well, comes with two barrels like I showed you down low.
Let’s get into the official cons and pros.
First Impression Out of the Box
DeucesJack:What’s up everybody? DeucesJack at vapinginsider.com. Today I got the Recoil Rebel by Grimm Green and Ohm Boy OC.
Let’s dive down. Let me show you it, up close. We’re going to throw a build in it. I’ll show you how to wick it. I’m going to show you that little Delrin piece and how to use that. Then we’ll cut back on top we’re going to talk about it a bit, cons, pros. Out of here. See you downlow.
What’s in the Box
- 1 x Recoil Rebel RDA
- 1 x AFC Barrel
- 1 x Snake Bite Barrel
- 1 x Ultem Ring
- 1 x Bag of Spare Parts
All right everyone, welcome to the up close portion of this video. Today were going to be going over the Recoil Rebel. There’s the packaging right there. There’s the back of the packaging, Recoil Rebel.
Let’s open it up and see what we got here. I’ve always heard a lot of good things about this RDA. You get a bunch of spare O rings and you get a bunch of spare deck screws. These are hex screws. The ones that come installed our flat head screws. This thing is kinda weird. This is like an ultem disc that kind of access like a juice well wick retainer. Kind of keep your wicks in place and gives you a little bit of a juice well.
From Top to Bottom
You get two top cap with this. The first top cap you get is the cloud top cap they call it, I guess.. The cloud bros cloud top cap. This one has like a snakebite on both sides and it is non-adjustable. See how it’s drilled out there on a slant? It’s really nice. Directs the airflow down towards your coil.
You have to O-rings over here on the top cap. I wish there was a knurling here on the barrel cover. Barrel cover is held in place by one O-ring. All the O-rings have a nice tolerance. These two O rings right here are for your proprietary drip tip.
Nice conical design on the inside right there. This does have a locking barrel system so the barrel will not continue to spin when you take it off of your mod. Real nice thick barrel. They did a great job on the machining. Machining is super clean. Some deep etching right here for Recoil Rebel. Branding is not too terrible. I think they actually did a nice subtle job with it.
The top cop and the atomizer itself is a fingerprint magnet. Let me show you the actual atomizer with the top cap that comes pre installed. This is it. Same kind of branding but over hear we have four air holes. Same thing on the other side, fourr air holes.
On the back we have #GrimmYOC, Serialized number 2450. Gold plated 510 connection with an insulator ring around it. Stainless steel over there is very very smooth. This does sit flush on all my mods. My one big con on this is that there is no squatting kingpin included. I do believe they sell an aftermarket one. Here is your negative post flat head screw. Here it is on a stand. Here is the proprietary Delrin drip tip. Just like the snakebite cap, it’s held in place by two O-rings right there. It is comfortable but it is proprietary so that’s gonna be a con. There are aftermarket colors available. Barrel comes off like that. Do a quick tour around it.
The top part of the pop-up is held in place by one already. Look at those beautiful cuts. Look at the machining. The machining is just phenomenal. They did a great job on it. Nice and thick conical design in here. Barrel again, is very Nice and thick. This thing feels like a quality piece. It really really does.
Let me show you how the airflow works. Again I wish there was a knurling over here. Turn it, you can close one air hole off. turn it again, you can close two. Turn it again, you can close three. Turn it again and you can close all four of them. It’s actually a lot easier to adjust when it’s on a mod.
Here is the deck. Love the offset deck that they did. I like that the two leads in the middle are lower than the two leads on the outside it gets the leads out of the way for your wicking material. Great job on that.
Nice deep juice well. A little bit of Recoil Rebel branding over there. I’ll tell you. The machining on this thing is just really really impressive. They did a great job with it. You got two O-rings over here that hold the barrel in place. They have a nice tolerance to them. Shout out to Coil Master 521 Plus tab. Let’s get this thing cranked down on it and get some coils in there.
Building & Wicking
Coils we’re going to be using today is from Wotofo. I got some M80 coils here. First first thing you want to do is you want to put your coils into the terminals. Let’s give it a little push in there. Don’t worry about what they look like right now, we’re going to fix that. For now let’s tighten this down. Take your flat head screwdriver like the one I have from Coil Master. Don’t worry about getting it too tight right now you just want to get it nice and snug for now. Same thing on the other side. Now we take our leads right there and we give them a nice little snip and get them out of the way. Take your wire clipper, make sure you hold the lead. give it a snip, get rid of that. Same thing over here. Take your wire clipper, put your finger there so it don’t go flying and clip your lead.
Now, on the other side we do the same exact thing. You want to kind of get it in the same spot as the other one. Get your coiling rod in there. Precision your coil where you want it then take your screwdriver and again, tighten it down. Don’t be a maniac about it. Same thing over here, tighten it down. Like I said, don’t worry about oil placement we’re going to fix that in a minute. Now you want to take your leads the same way you did before, nice and flush. Hold onto them, get your cutter in there and give it a sniff. Make sure your leads are all out of there because you don’t want to cause a short.
Now, when it comes to coil placement what you really want to do is you kind of want to run your coils a little high on this one. Let me explain to you why. Number one, if you’re going to run the barrel with the four air holes, you want it high so when it hits the bottom and the top of the coil. So you want to run them right around there. The other reason you want to run them a little high is because, if you want to use this Delrin ring, if you run them low, you’re not gonna be able to use this Delran ring. They got to be able to clear that. That’s why you want to run them a little high and inside.
Your coils are positioned correctly and in place, what you want to do is you want to burn them in, pulse them very lightly. Make sure you have no hotspots. If you do have some hotspots, just give it a nice little stroke. Make sure you’re always going in the same direction. Our goal is to get the coils burning from the inside out. There we go. Now it’s time to wick.
We’re going to be using a new wicking material today. I got sent this Wicked wicks. Now I just give my wicks a little twirl, maybe a little comb out with my fingers. Get one end nice and pointy and pull it right through the coil. And that’s how you want it. You want it nice and tight. You want to cut it right by the second O-ring right there. Get rid of that. Let’s cut this side the same way.And now we want to take this piece and we want to wick it through the same exact way. Now you just want to cut your wicks the same way you did the one on the other side and now you’re ready to chuck your wicks in.
Now, what you want to do is you want to take your wicks and you kind of want to tuck them in nice and gently, real easy like. Same thing on this side. I kind of like to loop them around and unscoot them to the front. This way it does not affect the fluffiness. Same thing on the other side. Give it a little scootch around. Tuck it in, tuck it in, nice and fluffy. Now if you want to run that juice well ring, this is the time to put it in. You kind of snap it in. Pass it by your coils if you can a little bit. Do one side first then the other. Hopefully you have a tool handy where you can make a little bit of space for the ring to actually go down. That ring stays in place very nicely now and it’s going to capture a lot of your juice and make a big difference on the wicking.
Juice we’re going to use today, we’re going to use some Twisted Sour Blue raspberry. Kind of like a blue razz lemonade. I’ve been really digging these summer time vapes. What you want to is you want to wet your coils nice. Give them a nice blast of juice right there. Wow, this thing smells great already. There we go. Ohm it out at 0.13 and we got plenty to vape. Now it’s time to pick our top cap and put it on. Personally, I have to say I vape both but I do like the snake bite cap better. Check it out. You can see your coil right there, right through the snakebite holes.
Let’s cut back on top. Let’s vape on it and then we’ll talk about it, cons, pros, we’re out of here.
First con is going to be- Come on, man. Grimm Green, you know better than that. Proprietary drip tip, you should have never done it. This thing’ screaming for a goon. Should have been an 810 goon style drip tip.
No squonking pin. That’s going tobe a con. Come on, mna. Again, you guys know better. There should have been a squonking pin there, not a $10 separate purchase. Bad job on that.
And the other con I’m going to give it and this is going to be very subjective because I got this thing on sale. I got it at a great price but everywhere I check around, I’m seeing it for around $60. That’s a little steep compare to some of the competition out there.
Let’s get into the pros because there is a ton of them. First pro is going to be, this thing is machined beautifully. Top notch machining, we’re going to give them a pro for that.
Two barrels included, pro for that.
Let’s give them a pro on that innovative Delrin deck piece that kind of hold your coils down and keep your juice well nice and full. It doesn’t let it overflow. I’m goingt o give them a pro on the nice air flow. This thing has got smooth airflow no matter which barrel you use.
I’m going to give them a pro on that snake bite top cap. That’s the one I’ve been rocking in. Let me tell you something, I get better flavor with the snakebite than i do with the other top cap. Let’s give them a pro on the cloud production. This thing, if you put the right coils in it, you’ll get massive clouds out of it. They’re thick, they’re gents and they’re saturated.
I’m also going to give them a pro on the nice juice well. That juice well is nice and deep. You can get a lot of juice in there. I got up to 30 drops in there without it even leaking. They’ll get a pro for that.
Takes big coils, give them a pro for that. You can put some big beefy builds in here. I’m also going to give them a pro because it’s easy to build on.
That’s it folks. That’s all I really got for you today. Make sure you check out our links down below as to where you can buy this awesome RDA. It’s DeucesJack approved for sure.
