What’s up, Insiders? DeucesJack at VapingInsider.com. Today, we’re going to be going over the Smok Fetch. Big question is, is this one just an RPM in a different form factor? Make sure you watch the whole review so you can find out all my thoughts and feelings on the Smok Fetch.
Before we get into the video, make sure you check out our new merch site. You can get my tagline on a shirt, or a hoodie.
Check that out. Kind of neat looking, right? I’m diggin it. You got these little stickers right here. We’re going to get rid of them. Check that out. Look at that screen. Kind of awesome, the way they did that. Nice fire button right there, screen, plus and minus button, micro USB port. Check out the Fetch branding, a little too big for me. It’s not loud because it’s blue on blue. I do like the way the color flip-flops, that’s kind of cool. But I do wish that branding wasn’t that big. Same stuff going on on the other side, just reversed. Some Fetch branding. On the bottom, we’ve got some battery venting.
Let’s do a quick size comparison. Here is the RPM which basically has the same exact chipset, same exact type of vape, just in a different form factor. There’s the Fetch, there’s the new Orion Plus. You can see, very, very similar, just a different shape. But they actually vape almost exactly the same. They take the exact same coils. This is just a different form factor than this. You can see, you compare it to the Orion, definitely chunkier than the Orion Plus. The Orion Plus is skinnier but the Fetch is shorter, a little stubbier but very, very similar. As far as feel on the hand goes, this feels lighter, this feels a little chunkier, and maybe slightly heavier but very, very close as far as pocketability goes.
From Top to Bottom
Here is your pod right here. You just pop it out, just like that. Check that out. Kind of neat. Now, inside here, we got two gold-plated pins and we have a magnet, really strong magnet right over, here that holds everything in place. Here is your pod, your tank, whatever you want to call it. This drip tip is fixed. It doesn’t move, that’s a con. I wish they would have made this a 510 drip tip. It feels like a 510 drip tip when you put it in your mouth, but it’s not removable. On the bottom here, you can see, that’s where you put your coil and you have these two magnets. Interesting thing that they did with this is the airflow comes from the top over here and it also comes from the side over here. So it’s kind of cool because a lot of times your finger, because of the shape of this mod, covers this air hole. But it doesn’t make much of a difference because you’re getting it from the top as well. So that’s kind of neat. The way they did that, the way they put it on both sides, I actually really like that.
In the kit that I got, since I got a pre-release sample, I got one tank in the kit, I got an RPM tank. And you can see, I have a black strip there. When you get your retail version, I believe it’s going to have two tanks in it. You’re going to get an RPM tank, one like this with the black strip in it that accepts RPM coils, and then you’re also going to get one with a red strip over here that will accept Nord coils. I just want to make the distinguishment between the two because I didn’t get the Nord tank because I have a pre-release version but I’m pretty sure the retail versions are going to have that Nord tank in there. So just be aware of that when you buy it, that you will be able to run Nord coils in your Fetch even though I didn’t show it to you here.
This is the 0.4ohm mesh coil with a best-of rating of 25W. You can see the mesh in there. See that in there? Same coil as you get in the RPM kit. Kind of neat, I kind of like these coils. They’re really, really flavorful. Next is the 0.6ohm coil also good for 25W. You can see, it’s just a round wire build inside, also very flavorful. But not as flavorful as the mesh. This is called the triple coil so I’m assuming there’s three rewires in their.
Juice we’re going to be using today is Juice Head Blueberry Lemon. It tastes exactly what it sounds like. Let’s prime up that mesh coil. First thing you want to do with that mesh coil, you want to take your juice, want to put a drop or two right down the middle. That’s it, I wouldn’t juice the sides on this because they’re just too small. Now, you take your pod, your tank system, whatever you want to call it. You take your coil and you make sure the flat sides are facing out here because you want that air flow not to be interrupted and the coil won’t go in that way anyway and you just pop it in there just like so.
In order to fill it up, get your little nail in there. Kind of got to have like girly nails. Pop that thing open just like that and now you take your juice bottle and you just give it a squeeze and fill it up. Once it’s all filled up to the top, pop that little rubber piece in there, get your nail in between those two magnets and push it down good. Make sure it seals good. Once it’s all sealed up, you install your pod. Check it out. See how nice that snaps in there? Nice, strong magnets.
Five clicks turns it on. You see the Fetch splash screen. Now you can see, it says, Pod Attached. It’s got the same exact screen as the RPM. It’s power lock. To unlock it, three clicks. It’s unlocked now. You can scroll all the way up to 40W. It does not round robin. You can scroll down to 25 which is the recommended wattage. But I would say, until you break the coil in, start at around 15W. Screen is beautiful and well laid out. Lock/unlock feature over there, battery meter over there, wattage, puff counter in seconds, resistance, voltage and puffs. These little different colored dots right there, those are the screen colors. You can change it too.
That’s how you unlock the wattage. Hit the plus and minus button together. If you want to lock the wattage in place, plus and minus button together. Now, you cannot move the wattage but you can still fire it. You want to unlock the wattage, plus and minus button together and it’s unlocked. And you can see, it scrolls pretty fast. Power lock is three clicks. Now, if you want to change the screen color, you hit the up button and the fire button. See that? Went to green, blue, purple, white, back to red. We’re going to put it on blue. We’re going to leave it on blue, just like that. So that’s how you change the screen color.
Let’s take one last look at it. Let’s cut back on top and let’s vape on it.
Alright, Insiders! Let’s get into the cons and pros.
What’s in the Box
- 1 FETCH MINI 40W Device
- 1 FETCH MINI Empty RPM Pod
- 1 FETCH MINI Empty Nord Pod
- 1 0.4ohm RPM Mesh Coil
- 1 0.6ohm Nord Regular DC Coil
- 1 MicroUSB Cable
- 1 Instructional Manual
First con is going to be, I really wish this one had adjustable air flow. I felt the same way about the RPM 40 as well.
As far as the air flow goes, this might be a con to some people. I do find the Fetch a little airyer than the RPM 40, if you’re going to compare the two. So I’m going to chalk that up as a con because some people like these small devices to be really tight on the airflow and this is definitely a little looser when you compare it to the RPM.
‘m really not a true mouth-to-lung guy. I don’t like those super tight mouth-to-lungs. I do like them in certain situations but it’s not necessarily my jam. Now I got this at ECC and I did not get two tanks with this. I only have the tank that takes the RPM coil. I did not get the tank that takes the Nord coil. So I’m thinking that I got a pre-release version. I think the retail versions are going to have both tanks in it. So you can one both nord coils and RPM coils. But I gotta chalk it up as a con that I didn’t get the Nord tank because I can’t intelligently speak about it. I wish it would have been included in my packaging.
And the last con is going to be, that pod is still a little bit on the dark side. I wish they would have made it clearer.
But that’s it on the cons. Let’s move on to the pros.
I gotta say, the looks of this thing. I love the glass panels on it. I think the looks on it are awesome. It’s well built.
It fires fast.
I like the capacity.
I like the fact that the rubber piece for the fill port actually stays attached. That’s a pro.
The display on this is awesome just like the RPM. It’s a pro.
I get great battery life.
Got an easy menu system.
So far, the flavor and clouds have been fantastic. Let me show you what I’m working with here. I got the RPM coil at 24W. Check it out. Not bad for that little guy. Not bad at all.
The vape is not as warm as I like it and that’s a common complaint on these little pods/AIO systems. But the flavor is actually good. And you can see, the clouds are just fine.
It’s small, its pocketable, it’s a real easy carry.
I love the power-to-size ratio on this thing. This little thing does 40W, awesome job.
I really do like the loose mouth-to-lung draw. You can almost DL hit it. It’s a very, very loose mouth-to-lung draw, the kind of mouth-to-lung draw that I actually like. But I know that die-hard mouth-to-lung-ers aren’t going to like it. But I’m going to give it a pro for me personally because that’s the type of MTL draw I enjoy.
So that’s it, Insiders! Those are my cons and pros. Stick around. Let’s talk about this one a little bit.
I do like the fact that it is going to come with two different tanks. This way, if you do own a Nord, you don’t have to go out and buy different coils. I think that’s a great job by Smok. To bottom line this thing, it’s basically an RPM 40 with a different mouthpiece and a looser airflow, as far as I’m concerned. So if you like the RPM but you wanted something with a little bit more airflow, you’re going to want to check out the link down below.
