What’s up, Insiders? DeucesJack, I’m at VapingInsider.com and I got something a little different for you today. Today, we’re going to go over like a better built version of the Pico. I’m talking about the Starrs Blazer kit. I met the peeps from Starrs over at ECC. They handed me the Desert Camo one and this is my full review. So stay tuned for all my thoughts and feelings.
Before we get into the video, make sure you check out our new merch site. You can get my tagline on a shirt or a hoodie.
Check that out. That’s kind of neat, that desert camo. I’m diggin the hell out of that. It is awesome. Check this beauty out. This is a really nice mod. We got a gold-plated 510 that I would say has a pretty long throw with a medium spring to it. Stainless steel plate over here. It is raised a little bit, and you have stainless steel threading over there. Let me show you the plate that I’m talking about. See how it’s raised a little bit so everything’s going to gap a little bit? Now you’re going to notice, see this little strip right here that goes through these things? That’s actually an LED which is kind of cool because they’re kind of subtle. So kind of a neat looking mod. You got a little bit of texture over here. It gives it a little bit of roughness so you can actually feel the mod in your hand. I do like that love in the Desert Camo pattern. It’s fantastic. LEDs on this side as well.
On the bottom, we got two star screws. We have some venting over here for the battery and we have a micro USB port for charging internal charging. I’m not crazy about that port being on the bottom. You guys know, I hate that. It’s one of my pet peeves, I don’t like ports on the bottom. I think there was plenty of real estate where they could have put it. Now, over here, you can see your fire button, nice and clicky. Nice job on that. You got chrome or silver up and down buttons over here and here is your screen. On top, you have a Pico style battery cap. You just unscrew it just like that. Threading is super-smooth on it, really nice job on that. What they did not do a nice job on is the battery markings. There’s your negative sign right there. You do have a gold-plated battery contact here. On the bottom of the mod is a gold-plated, spring-loaded contact. But I wish they would have done a better job with the battery indicator marking. Down the tube, you probably can’t see it, but there is a spring-loaded battery contact.
Wanted to give you a quick size comparison to some other single 18650 mods. Here is the new Tesla WYE 86W. That’s brand new, hasn’t been out too long. This, of course, is the mod we’ve been going over, and this is the Pico, kind of has like a coke like following. When you compare it to the WYE, the WYE is all plastic. Much, much lighter, much slimmer in the hand. It’s a different type of form factor, it really is. When you compare it to the Pico, you can see, it definitely took a ton of design cues from the Pico. Feels very similar in the hand. The Pico’s lighter but this is much heavier and it feels like it’s built better. And to be honest with you, it probably has a better chipset in it because I was never a fan of Eleaf chipsets in general. So this one has a better chipset and it’s definitely built better.
Five clicks, you see the Starrs splash screen, Blazer mod, and there is your screen. Nice, bright, simple screen. Very, very well laid out. You can see over here, we have power mode, wattage, volts, resistance, battery meter. One, two, three, you can see, you can go through your modes. You have Nickel TC, Titanium TC, stainless steel TC, TCR, power mode, bypass mode. There’s your lights menu. I have it set on random. If you hit that, you can pick the different colors. There’s pink, blue, yellow, different type of pink, green, red, blue and back to pink. I had it set on random. We’re going to keep it there. If you go into TC mode, going to stainless steel TC, you can see, I can scroll up in 10 degree increments, all the way up to 600 degrees. If I hit the plus and minus button together, I can lock the mod. Hit it again, I unlock the mod. If I hit the plus and power button, that lets me adjust my wattage. I can adjust my wattage in TC, all the way up to 75W. It does not round-robin. Hit the fire button to confirm. Three clicks brings me back to the main menu and now I can go back to power mode. You can see, it does scroll in one watt increments, all the way up to 75W. It does not round-robin. When the mod is locked, you can’t adjust the wattage but it will fire. See? So in order to unlock it, hit the plus or minus button again and now I can adjust the wattage. And that’s it, folks. That’s the whole menu system. Really nice screen, well laid out. I like the way they did it.
Let’s take a look at the tank. Check that out. That’s kind of neat. Desert camo tank with one coil pre-installed. That’s going to be a con. There’s only one coil in the kit. A pro will be, though, that you do get a spare bubble glass. Nothing, no big shakes here. It’s typical sub ohm tank. You have stoppers on the bottom airflow. Triple bottom airflow. Whatever you adjust on one will of course happen on the other two. On the bottom of the atomizer, you can see, we got a gold-plated 510 insulator ring around that, stainless steel threading around all of that.
On the top, the drip tip, I think they could have done a better job with the drip tip. I would have liked to have seen something that matches the desert camo a little better. A little disappointed in that. It is a 510 drip tip. All your other 510 drip tips will fit fine on it. But this color does look a little out of place with the Desert Camo, I’m not going to lie. Clear markings on top as to where to turn the top cap to get it on or off. In order to get the top cap off, all you do is give it a half-a-twist. Bang! it comes right off. Excuse the condensation, I just took it out of my ultrasonic cleaner. Nice big fill ports, plenty of room to displace air. I do like that. I do like the half a twist on that thing. That’s kind of neat. Put it back on, just line it up, and give it another half a twist and it’s on there.
In order to access your coil, like every other sub ohm tank, just give the base a twist and bang, it pops right out. You only get one coil in the kit. That is going to be a definite con. This is the 0.5 ohm coil, good for 30-80W. It has a best-of rating of 40-60W. You also get a battery safety card, and a micro USB cable for charging. I do not know if this mod is updatable. If I find out, I will put it in the description below the video or I’ll update the video with a banner below the screen. But for now, I don’t know if it’s updatable. Interestingly enough, there’s no user manual in here but I’m sure we’ll be able to figure it out.
Let me give you one last look at it all put together. Check out how that tank just matches the mod beautifully. Bang-up job, Starrs Vape. Awesome, awesome job.

Alright insiders, let’s get after those cons and pros.
First con’s going to be, I was a little surprised the tank matches beautifully but that black drip tip, it’s just out of place. Why didn’t you match the drip tip better, Starrs? I got to chalk up a con on that one.
Top cap on this one is a little too easy to unscrew. I wish it had some more resistance. It’s a con.
Charge port on the bottom of the mod. I hate it. automatic con on this channel.
But that’s it on the cons, not a lot to really complain about. There are really no deal-breakers here as far as the pros go.
First pro you notice right away, when you put this thing in you, it’s got some solid build quality to it.
It’s also got a nice heft. It’s got a nice heft of quality. It doesn’t feel heavy just for the sake of being heavy. It feels heavy and well-built.
I love the different textures on this mod. You guys know I’m all about the textures. It gives it a nice grippy feel. Awesome job, Starrs.
Programmable lights and you can shut them off, baby. I don’t need to be discoing around town. I like the fact that I can actually shut them off.
The tank takes Baby Beast coils. It’s a pro even if you hate Baby Beast coils because they are plentiful. You can get them anywhere.
Big, bright, well laid out screen. Awesome job on the screen. It can be seen in all lighting conditions, it’s a pro.
Loving the finish on this thing and it’s held up well. So far, I’m getting really nice clouds and flavor. Check it out. I got the coil you saw me prime up down low. I got it at 60W. Nice, good flavor, good clouds. I got no issues with it. Not bad for 60W. You really can’t complain.
Love the fact that they put a spare glass in the kit. Nice job, Starrs.
And the last pro’s going to be, the TC does actually work. It’s decent TC.
So that’s it, Insiders. Those are my cons and pros.
Let’s chat about this one a little bit. I’ve got to say, I like this mod. I really do. I’ve always liked the Pico form factor. I’ve just always felt that Eleaf, in general, makes a kind of cheap low-end mod and the Pico is no different. There might have been one that was really solid. I think it was the the Pico Squeeze. That thing was kind of heavy and well-built but all the rest of the Picos were very plasticky feeling. I just didn’t like them. I did enjoy the form factor, though. So if you’re into that Pico form factor but you never liked the build quality, definitely check this one out because this is a better built Pico basically, and it actually does TC which the Eleaf chipset doesn’t. It’s always kicking you out at TC. That won’t happen on this one. We’ll have a link down below for those of you that are interested. And I want to thank Starrs for handing this to me at ECC.
