What’s up, Insiders? Today, I got a little bit of a different review for you today, something a little different than what we normally do on this channel. We’re going to be reviewing the Stattqualm Squape Dream. The reason I say it’s going to be a little different is because we really haven’t really reviewed something that I would consider a high-end atomizer. This thing goes for about a buck forty. So to me, that’s a high-end atomizer. I know I’m going to see it in the comments, “It’s not high-end.” If you spend a buck forty on an atomizer, its high-end.
Before we get into the video, make sure you check out our new merch site. You can get my tagline on a shirt or a hoodie.
From Top to Bottom
Let’s check this thing out and see what we got here. I’ve always heard a lot about Squape but I never actually owned one so I’m excited about this one. Pop it open like that. Nice packaging, box opens up like that and now you can see, you got a nice-looking chunk of stainless steel there. Let’s take a quick go around of this thing. I’ll tell you what, right off the jump, this thing feels great. It feels like it’s machined beautifully. It just feels like a quality piece, the second you put it in your hand.
Also included in the box is this top piece that goes over your deck. I’m going to show you how to install it and you really only got to install it once. Once you put it in, it pretty much stays in. Of course, here is your spare glass section. Also included in the packaging is a user manual. You get this please-read-before-assembling card. It just tells you how to put that insulated piece that I showed you before in there. I’m going to go over that with you so we don’t need to read it. Some spare o-rings, some spare deck screws, a hex key and you get this rather nice, flat head screwdriver that I’m probably going to keep on one of my tool kits because it’s actually nice quality.
Let’s take a look at this tank. Check it out. Check out those windows. I like the way that glass is really protected. There is your airflow right there. We’re going to go over it in a second. Metal drip tip, it’s a chunky one. It’s in there rather snug. Let me get a piece of rubber here to pull it out. Really, really, beefy, beefy drip tip. It’s comfortable. Some people are not going to like the fact that it’s metal, though. The good news is, it is a 510 so all your other drip tips will fit fine, nice and snug in there. You can see, right here, you got this a little bit of roughness there. Same thing on the other side, it’s basically so you can get a grip for your top fill port. Machining on this, it’s just as smooth as it gets. It’s buttery, buttery smooth. You can see, the threads on this thing, they’re just beautiful, clean. The whole thing is just machined beautifully, it really is.
Here are your fill ports. You can fill in any one of these little holes right here. I really kind of like the way they did that. It’s got a recession there, just in case you overfill a little bit. I mean, just a really, really nice job on that. You can see a very narrow bore chimney here. So that’s going to contribute to good flavor. Just a really nice job. And of course, this piece does come apart in order for you to be able to replace the glass. We’re not going to do that in this video because this thing just goes into too many pieces and for the sake of brevity, I’m just not going to take the whole tank apart.
In order to take the deck off, it’s got three clicks. It clicks up, It clicks down, and it’s in the middle. In the middle, you can just pull the deck out just like that. This way, if you turn it upwards, this way, that’s when you turn the vape on. If you turn it downward, that’s when you turn everything off. You shut the air flow and you shut the juice flow control. I’m going to show you what I’m talking about in a minute. You’ll understand that in a second.
Now let’s take a look at the chamber inside here. You can see, really, you know not much of a conical design going on there. I don’t think it’s needed that much because of how small this atomizer is. It is a 22mm atomizer. You can see, these notches in here right there and there? That is where these little protruding plugs are going to lock into and that’s how you’re going to turn the juice flow control on and off. I’ll show you that in a second. But first let me show you the deck and let me show you the bottom side also. On the bottom, we got a gold-plated 510 insulator ring around it, stainless steel threading around that. This is serialized. Turn it over here and Squape highly recommends that as soon as you get this, you put some VG or some juice on this right away, just to lube it up a little bit. You can see, it’s got two posts, one terminal per post. That is a flathead on top. Thank God, they gave a screwdriver because it’s a tiny flathead screw. Even my Coil Master screwdriver doesn’t work in there. Their screwdriver works fine.
Now, let me show you what happens here. This is a dual coil deck. What’s happening here is, these little holes right here, going through the plastic piece, they’re going to feed out the bottom here and they’re going to soak your cotton so you want to use a lot of cotton on this when you’re wicking it. But the other neat thing about this is this piece slams on top here and these holes line up with the holes I just showed you. And there is your side airflow right there. So here is your side airflow right here and now you’re going to notice that these holes, they go on top of the holes that I just showed you before I put this piece on. What else is happening is, those holes you see down there are feeding through these and that’s what’s going to wick your cotton. That’s what’s going to feed the juice to your cotton. So I just wanted to show you how that works. Like I said, this piece right here that I just put on top, you’re only going to have to put that in once and let me show you why. Once you have that on top, you just keep sliding until it pops in. Now it pops in like that. Watch, see that piece came off and it stayed inside? Now you can take that piece out in here if you want to but it will never come out when you pull the deck out. You kind of gotta like stick something in there and kind of hook it to get it out. But I just wanted to show you that now while that piece is in there.
Let me show you how this base works because this is interesting. It’s got a clicking system. So here it is. Right now, it’s open. You can see the air flow, you can see through there. Now if I turn it this way, now I can pull the deck out again. See? I can pull the deck out again. Or if I turn it this way, you hear it click. Now it’s locked. Now no juice is coming in and no air is coming in. You can see that part blocked off. So that’s kind of interesting the way they did that. Again, middle position to take it out and now it’s out.
Building & Wicking
And now we’re going to put a build in this thing. Coils we’re going to be using today are Wotofo Ni80 0.62 ohm coils. They’re just very simple dual core fused Claptons.
So now we’re going to take one coil and we’re going to pop it in there just like so, like you would any other build deck and then we’re going to turn it around and we’re going to take our other coil and we’re going to pop it in there as well, just like that. Kind of pull them in there, pinch them in there, get them as close as you can, just like so. Once they’re both in there, give them a little pinch so they stay where they are. Then take your included flat-head screwdriver and tighten them down. Same thing on the other side. And now that looks really janky. But we’re going to clean it up, I promise you. So now what we’re going to do is we’re going to go for the leads that are easiest first. Those are going to be the ones sticking out just like that. Get this one, get in there, then we’re going to try to move this one out of the way a little bit. Get it out of the way and now we’re going to get in there and we’re going to clip this lead. I’m going to get this one out of the way a little bit and we’re going to get in there. Get off flush cutters in there and just cut as close as we can, just like that. And that still looks janky but that’s okay. We’re going to fix it all up. I’m going to get in there and we’re going to straighten these coils out so then once you’ve done clipping your leads, you want to get your coils to look something like that. You want them even and you want to make sure they’re right around that height. Right now, we’re ohming out at 0.22. That’s probably going to change a little bit. So let’s give these a gentle pulse and see what we’re at here. There we go, glowing evenly from the inside out. And now we’re ohming out at around 0.3 which is exactly where we should be now.
Here’s the important part with this atomizer. You want to make sure you wick this correctly. I’m going to show you exactly how to do that. Take a piece of your Platinum Blend, whatever wicking material you use, pinch it on one end, get it nice and pointy and pop it right through there with some nice tension, just like that. Now I know this is going to seem like a lot of cotton but this is where I like to cut this one here. You want to cut this one right around where the metal starts on that base right there. Same thing on the other side, right around where that metal starts, just give it a snip. Now, we’re going to do the same thing on the other side, just like that. Now here’s the important part you want to make sure you’re paying attention here. You want to do is you want to take your cotton and you gently want to stuff it in there and it’s got to go under that coil, just like so, right under that coil. But now here’s the important part right here. You see, this right here, you want that little wall in front of this hole right here. That’s what you want because that’s going to let it wick properly. Same thing on the other side. Don’t worry that it’s fluffy and don’t worry that it looks like too much cotton, it’s really not. You see that little hole right there? You don’t want to cover that hole but you want a little bit of wall of cotton in front of it right there. And now you just repeat the process on the other two sides. And that’s how you wick this thing so it doesn’t leak and so you get maximum flavor. That’s how you want to do it, just like that.
Juice we’re going to be using today is That 1 Vape’s Apricot Custard. If you haven’t tried this yet, trust me, just go get yourself a bottle. You will thank me later.
So now what we want to do is we want to get started with our juice. We just want to get this nice and wet, put a few drops down the middle there. Get it nice and saturated like we would on any other atomizer just like that. Let’s give it a test fire. We got vape. Now what we’re going to do is we’re going to put this thing back together and we’re going to fill up that tank. So now what we do is we take the tank part, we put it on there spin it, until it kind of drops into place. Now this way is going to be open and that way is going to be locked. So we want to make sure it’s locked. See? it’s in the locked position because you can’t see through the airflow. That’s where you want it when you’re filling it up. Now we’re going to open this thing up and we’re just going to fill it up. We’re going to fill this thing up all the way to the top and now we’re going to take our top cap. We’re going to put that back on. Again, threading is beautiful. And just in case I didn’t give it enough credit in the beginning, this drip tip here, it might be metal but it’s beefy. It’s chunky and it’s beautiful. Once you’re done with that, pop your drip tip back on and that’s how it looks all put together juiced up and wet.
Let’s throw this thing on a mod and let’s see how it actually vapess.
What’s in the Box
That’s it, Insiders. Let’s move on to the cons and pros on the Squape.
First con’s going to be, and you saw it down low, this is not a deck for beginners. This is not a beginner deck. It’s not an atomizer for beginners, as far as I’m concerned. This is going to be for someone who’s looking to spend the money and for somebody who has experience building.
Second con on this one is that one terminal per post design. I understand they’re going for the condensed chamber, the whole nine yards. I just hate one terminal per post. I hate sharing lead space. It’s a con to me.
Other con is on this one, you better bring your wicking game. You’re going to need a wicking game. Listen, it’s not terribly complicated to wick. But this isn’t anything that’s for beginners as far as the wicking goes either.
it’s only available in stainless steel.
And the last con is going to be, it’s got all that bare metal on there. I wish they would have put some knurling especially towards the base so you can get a better grip on things. I would have liked some type of roughness. I just think, overall, the atomizer is just too smooth. I would have liked to have seen some texture on the outside.
But that’s it on the cons. Let’s move on to the pros because this thing does vape like a dream.
First pro is going to be, first thing you notice as soon as you bang open that box, the machining on this thing is second to none. Awesome job on the machining.
The looks, I like the way this thing looks. It doesn’t only feel high-end, it looks high-end.
I like the way they protected that glass. It’s still removable. You can still replace it. But to be honest with you, you’re really going to have to hit that thing on a certain angle in order to break that glass. I like it. It’s a pro.
Flavor, this thing’s a flavor banger. There’s no doubt about it. I got a 0.3-1 ohm build. I got the Squape sitting on top of my Cold Steel 135W. Let me show you what we’re working with here. That’s smooth, baby. Just a nice smooth mouth-to-lung draw. If I cut it down, let’s say about 60% of the way, check it out. Nice, I get full on, saturated, dense flavor. This may be one of the thickest mouth-to-lung vape I’ve ever had. It’s nice. It’s nice and it’s full flavored. I gotta have another vape. Just smooth, baby.
Another pro is going to be this is, no doubt about it, it’s a legit mouth-to-lung tank. You can DL hit it if you slip it a little bit. But for the most part, this is where you die-hard mouth-to-lungers. This is right up your alley. If you got the cheddar.
I like the huge fill ports on top.
It’s got a nice capacity.
Performance on this one, I ain’t got no complaints. This one’s a good performer.
Airflow on this one, I gotta say, I really do like the range on it. It’s the full mouth-to-lung spectrum with the most restrictive DL hit you could possibly imagine. That’s what I’m talking about here. That’s the range we’re looking at. It’s a nice range. People are definitely going to like this who are into flavor. This is a flavor-first atomizer, make no bones about it.
So that’s it, Insiders. Those are my cons and pros. Let’s talk about this one a little bit.
Let’s especially talk about the price point now. You heard me in the beginning of the video. This thing’s going for around the buck 40 now. I know, people are going to ask me, they’re going to be like, “But, Deuces, is it worth a $140?” I don’t know, man. That’s up to you. I can’t spend your money. You’re an adult. You figure it. For some people, the flavor that you get off this thing is definitely going to be worth it. For some people, it’s not. Some people are going to say you know what I can get very similar flavor on a $30 atomizer. That’s totally up to you. I’m just telling you, this thing’s got bangin flavor. The flavor on it is fantastic and it’s for somebody who’s looking for a high-quality mouth-to-lung vape. That price point issue, that’s going to be totally up to you because. I’m not copping out on this, I’m just telling you that a $140-150, that range, that means a lot of different things to a lot of different people because some people, that’s a lot of money. To some people, it’s not. That’s just the way the world is. Do I think it’s worth it? I can be honest with you. I can see the value in the atomizer. I understand why it’s going for the price that it’s going for and I’ll leave it at that.
