What’s up, Insiders! I’m your man, DeucesJack. Today, we’re going to be going over the ThunderHead Creations Tauren X pod system. Check out that gold emblem on there. I’m kind of digging it. Now, before we go down low, let me tell you right off the jump. This is a very versatile pod system. You have the choice of getting it with an RBA section, or a factory coil section. I don’t know if they’re both going to be available in the kit. I know I got given the RBA section separately but I’m going to go over both of them just for you.
Before we get into the video, make sure you check out our new merch site. You can get my tagline on a shirt or a hoodie.
FROM TOP TOP BOTTOM
Here’s the mod. Check out that beautiful red. They did a nice job on it. It’s absolutely gorgeous. Now, let’s go over the factory coil part of it first because I think that’s what a lot of people are going to be interested in first. Here is the tank, nice clear tank. Beautiful drip tip. The drip tip is kind of proprietary. Let me show you what I’m talking about. It’s got a 510 feel but you see how it’s got that bigger o-ring on top? Your other 510s will not fit. It’s got like a stepped-up type of design. I don’t know why they did that. I don’t know why they didn’t go with a regular 510 drip tip. It’s also on the RBA section as well. Kind of annoying really is.
Now, over here, you have some knurling on your top fill cap. Nicely threaded works very well. Nice big fill port right there. You’ll be able to displace air no problem. Smooth threading, very, very nice. Now, over here, see this part right here? It’s kind of press-fit in there. That is your base that’s going to hold your coil. You screw your coil into that. Here is your airflow right here. That’s where you adjust your airflow. It’s a little stiff right now but once you get some juice on it you should be alright. And again, there is your base right there. That’s where you screw your coil into.
Here is your 0.6ohm mesh, good for 15-23W. You can see inside there, you can see the mesh. This is the coil we’re going to be juicing up in a second.
Now here’s something interesting. This yellow coil with the yellow o-rings, this is your 1ohm mesh, good for 9-14W. It’s mesh as well. It’s a mouth-to-lung mesh. I’m kind of diggin that. That’s kind of cool.
The juice we’re going to be using today since it is fall, we’re going to be using Freeman’s Fall Spirit. Check this out. It is a caramel apple juice, caramel green apple. When you open that juice up, it smells fantastic. Put a couple of drops right down the middle right there. Nothing crazy, don’t go nuts. If these coils are small, you really don’t need to prime them that much. You can basically just let them sit in the tank for a good 5-10 minutes. Once you’ve done putting a few drops down the middle, take your coil, reverse thread a little bit, and screw it right into that base, just like so. Now once you’re done with that, you want to take your base and you just want to press fit it right in there. That’s all, it doesn’t screw down, nothing like that. Just press-fit it in there. Once you’re done with that, you open up your top cap right here, take your juice bottle, get the nozzle in there and give it a good squeeze. Fill that up with some Caramel Apple goodness. Put your top cap back on, make sure it’s nice and tight. And there you go. Now we’re all ready to vape. We’re going to put this on deck for a second.
Let’s go over the mod and then we’ll go over the RBA base. One nice little touch before we go over the mod, they give you an extra base. You will have to use the airflow control ring, your old one, but it’s nice that they include an extra one. And you have some spare o-rings as well.
So let’s go over the mod. I have the RBA deck installed that I’m going to show you in a minute. You can tell the difference between it because the RBA pod is dark. The one that uses the factory coils is clear, nice. A little emblem right there, I’m kind of diggin it. Taurus the Bull, right? Gold embossed some X pod branding over there. Nice fire button, plus and minus button. They’re a little raised, they are nice and clicky.
Five clicks turn the screen on. Nice bright screen, a little bit of information, well laid-out. Power mode, resistance, battery life, wattage. Right here, this little hole right here, that’s where you’re going to get your airflow from. I don’t know if you can see that. See the RBA base right there? It lines up with that airflow slot right there and you have one on each side. Did you hear that click, though? Nice magnets. Nice job on that. Really, really nice job. The same type of drip tip on the puzzle, on the pod that I just showed you. No adjustable airflow over here, like you, would on an Orion. Instead, your adjustable airflow is right here on your RBA base. That is your adjustable airflow. You can see, you can dial it down pretty, pretty tight. I like keeping it wide open. The nice thing about this is wide open, it’s wide open on both sides, you have two sides that are wide open. That is not the case if you put it on the tightest setting or the second tightest. You only have one hole open so just bear that in mind. But I like it right there wide open.
There’s the bottom of your base, your two gold-plated contacts that actually make contact with the mod. Inside the mod, you can see, your two gold-plated contacts and your two magnets in each corner. Very, very strong magnets, I like it. Now here’s something interesting. When you use the factory pod, it kind of has a little bit of movement. It doesn’t fit in there as tight. It doesn’t really move while you’re vaping but that’s way too loose, as far as I’m concerned. I don’t like that at all. Another thing is you’re going to have to make sure you line up the airflow so it sits in front of that airflow hole. See that? You want to make sure you turn the base enough so it sits in front of that. You don’t want it not sitting in front of that airflow hole. Otherwise, it’ll be blocked. But that movement is unacceptable, as far as I’m concerned. Conversely, when you put the RBA deck in there, it doesn’t move at all, it really doesn’t. It’s in there a lot tighter. I don’t know why they couldn’t make it so it fits the same way. I’m thinking the metal base is having a profound effect on making this tighter than this one. The only difference between the two is this one doesn’t have that metal base on the bottom.
Alright, Insiders! We’re going to go over the RBA section part now. This is the RBA tank, we’re going to get into that in a minute. Let me show you what’s included in the RBA section box. You get a Phillips head screwdriver. You get four of these spaced stainless steel coils. They are stainless steel 316, 2mm in diameter. They should ohm out at about 0.7. This is the part you get to put on the mod that allows you to dry fire your coil. One thing that annoyed the hell out of me is one of the screws comes unassembled. In other words, there’s a shaft, a screw and a spring that goes inside that you have to assemble. I have no idea why THC decided to only assemble one side. It makes no sense to me. Just stupid, THC. If you’re going to release this you got to assemble this fully because it was a pain in the neck to assemble that part. It really was. Also included in the RBA box, you get like a lanyard but it’s like a wrist strap. It’s not something you can hang around your neck. You get a tank protector which is kind of nice, but I can’t see you using it on this mod, and you get a micro USB cable for charging.
So when you want to assemble your RBA base, build your coil and wick it, the first thing you need is this. Then you need to take out your press-fit deck. It’s just press fit in there just like that. Once you have that, the chimney section just unscrews like so. And you can see, real nice conical design inside there, small chamber. Then what you’re left with is you have two posts, one terminal per post, Phillips head screw on top.
This is the coil they sent me. This is the 2mm one. I’m not going to go over how to build it. The airflow is right underneath, it’s a simple single post per terminal build deck. You just basically put your coils in there and tighten down the Phillips head screws. It’s very, very easy. If you want to dry fire it, you put this piece, this coil firing piece in the mod and then what you do is, see that little tab right there? You want to take that tab and you want to line it up till it drops right in there. Now you want to make sure you push this down deep. Make sure it seats okay because otherwise, it’s going to say ‘No atomizer’. And when you do that, you’re going to see it registers a coil. So now what we do is we turn it to the top side here and if we want to clean this coil, we just give it a quick dry fire. You can see, it’s firing. Let it cool down for a second. And now what we’re going to do is we’re going to take a small piece of cotton. Remember, this is only 2mm I D coil. Pinch it on one end nice and tight. Once it’s all pinched, you’re just going to feed it through there, nice and easy. And don’t Jam this cotton through there because remember, this is a small single wire coil. So you don’t want to dis configure the coil. You want to make sure it’s tight but you don’t want to get the coil out of joint. It should look like that when you’re done. Now what you want to do is you want to cut your wicks. Do you want to make sure, see this little hole right here? That’s your wicking port, that’s where your cotton is going to get fed to juice so you really don’t want to go bigger than this coil and at the sink because you’re just not going to have enough volume of juice getting through there to feed a bigger wick. So you really want to stay in the 2mm ID arena. I guess if you want to, you could try putting a Clapton in there but I don’t think it’ll work particularly well. So now what you do is you want to take your cotton and you want to cut it right around there. You don’t want super-long wicks on this. You just want enough to reach down there and block that hole. The same thing on the other side, cut it right about there.
So now that you got that all cut, what you want to do is you want to take your wick and you just want to kind of gently fold it around and tuck it in there. See that right there, how I’m blocking that hole with the cotton. That’s how you want it so now what you want to do is you want to do the same thing on the other side, just gently tuck it in there and now you can see, I’m blocking that wicking port there and that’s where your juice is going to feed from.
The juice I’m going to try today is Blnd’d. This is a raspberry grape acai. Now what you want to do like you would on any RTA or RDA, you want to get some juice in there. You want to get that coil flowing. Just get it nice and juiced up. Once you’re all juiced and wicked up, you take your chimney section right there. It’s a little crunchy. It’s not the greatest threading, but it’s thin. Give it a little reverse thread to make sure it catches and then just screw it on. Again, not the greatest threading but it’s not terrible either. It is thin threading because of the size of it. You want to take you a little tab right there, you want to line it up with that notch and you want to make sure you press fit it in all the way, just like that. Take your tank, give it a nice little fill. Go slow because it’s a small tank. Fill it right up to the top there, just like that. And then you want to take your little top cap and you just want to thread it on just like so. And that’s what it should look like when it’s all built and wicked. Now you take your rebuildable section. You pop it right in there and now you’re ready to vape. You can see, I’m ohming out at 0.69, which is close enough to 7.

Alright, Insiders! Let’s go over those cons and pros.
First con is going to be, people are going to point it out in the comments. I really don’t care, but people are going to say it looks like a Vandy Vape Mutant. It does. It looks like it took design queues from the Mutant by Vandy Vape. I got to point it out. It’s a con because it’s going to be mentioned in the comments, I know.
This is a very wet RDA. It’s not leaking. I seem to get a lot of condensation no matter what air holes I pick. There just always seems to be juice hanging around that general area. It’s kind of annoying. I find myself wiping it down a lot with like, a wet rag. It’s not leaking. It’s not to the point where it’s flooding down the side of my mod. It’s just always there. It’s always wet. it’s kind of weird. I’ve never really had another atomizer do that before so I had to point it out.
Post holes on this one, they could have definitely been bigger. They had the room, they should have made them bigger. Not like you can’t get a decent sized coil in there but I would have liked to have seen them bang those post holes out a little bit. It’s a bit of a con.
And the last con’s going to be that squonk post that you have to install yourself after you put the squonking pin in. That’s a real pain in the ass to install. You kind of got to like slip your fingers in there and get it in there just to get it to catch the threading. It’s annoying as hell, it really is. It’s a con for me. I don’t have delicate little fingers. I had a rough time with it, I’m not going to lie.
But that’s it on the cons. Nothing that’s a deal-breaker. Let’s move on to the pros because we do have some pros on this one.
The first pro’s going to be, it’s got adjustable wattage. I always like that on these AIO pod system type of kits. Nice job, THC.
This one’s easy to use.
It’s built really well.
Got a nice paint job.
Smooth draw. I’ve been enjoying the draw on this thing.
You saw it down low, it’s easy to build and wick.
I’m getting great flavor with the RBA. I got the 0.6-ohm coil in here. I got it at the 25W maximum. Let me show you what I’m working with here. Not bad. I’m getting the fully saturated flavor.
I’m getting some nice heat off of this. It’s a heat that you normally don’t get off a pod AIO system this small. I’m definitely digging it.
It’s a really satisfying vape. This is one of those kits that I could actually replace my 18650 sets up with a sub-ohm tank. I could rock this all day and be satisfied. That’s a big pro.
This thing works well with 3 bass or nic salt juices, that’s a pro.
I think it’s a good-looking kit.
It’s got that easy top fill.
And it’s got a nice capacity.
So that’s it, Insiders! Those are my cons and pros. Let’s chat about this one a bit.
I love this pod system. It’s well built, it works well the RBA section, works well. It’s just a fantastic pod/AIO kit. I like that it’s pocketable. I like that it has a smooth drawer. I love the build quality on it. ThunderHead Creations has been doing some awesome things. Their build quality has been up there. Very, very impressed with this company. Probably one of the best pods/AIO systems on the market right now. I know you might have heard me say that on a few other videos but I’m telling you, the stuff that they’re releasing now, these small kits with the adjustable wattage and the adjustable airflow and the RBA sections, these are fantastic. Some of them are just phenomenal. This one, in particular, is DeucesJack approved.
