What’s up, everyone? DeucesJack at vapinginsider.com. I got a new RDTA for you. They’ve fallen out of favor a little bit but Vandy Vape just came out with the Pyro 2. I got it sitting on top of a brand new Sigelei Skycar Chaos mod. Let’s go on to the RDTA. Top airflow RDTA, 24mm in diameter, 4 ml capacity, 44mm tall and it’s a squonker. Yeah, it’s a squonking RDTA.
Let’s cut down low. Let me show you everything about it. We’re going to put a build in it. We’ll wick it up, we’ll juice it up, we’re going to vape on it. We’ll come back on top. We’ll talk about it, cons, pros, out of here as usual. I’ll see you down low.
From Top to Bottom
Alright, everyone! Welcome to the down low portion of this video. Today, we’re going over the Vandy Vape Pyro V2 RDTA. You can see, I got a sample packaging here. Like most Vande Vape stuff, this is probably going to differ. I got the black one. Your retail packaging is not going to look like this but I’ll give you a quick tour around the box anyway.
Let’s open this up and see exactly what we got here. Here is the RDTA, we’re going to put that to the side for a second. This is a nice thing that Vandy VApe has been including in all its packaging, check this out. This is a coil lead measuring tool and it’s got numbers on the side and what they do is depending on what atomizer they give you, they mark where the perfect length is. This one is 5 millimeters on this Pyro V2. That’s kind of cool. I’ve been using them with my other RDAs as well or my other atomizers. Here is your spare ultem glass, here is your spare ultem drip tip, goon style. Nice job on that. I know a lot of people don’t like ultem but I always dig it.
Take the foam insert out and inside the box, you’ll have one of these little ridiculous TPD adapters. You can throw that out. I’ll never use it. You also get some really nice fused Clapton coils Ni80. Check them out, they did a nice job on them, that’s for sure. You also get a spare parts package with a hex key, a blue Phillips head screwdriver, spare o-rings, another hex key, spare deck screws and a spare 510 pin. Nice job on that.
Here is your Pyro V2. I’m definitely digging the little ultem over here. Kind of how they raised this part over here, kind of different. It really is. Here is your drip tip that comes pre-installed. Again, 810 goon style drip tip, kind of tapers upward. Not a big fan of that. In fact, I’m going to switch it out for the ultem one. You can see the o-ring inside. All your other goons will fit fine. I think that actually looks better. This is your air flow control right here and I’m going to show you that in a minute. Right now, you can’t see anything. There’s no outside airflow because the air flow actually comes from the top. The space in between here is where your air flow comes from. That outer part is part of your double chamber that I’ll show to you in a minute.
On the bottom of the RDTA, we have some Pyro V2 branding, Designed and manufactured by Vandy Vape, serial number. We have this rubber o-ring around it because it is a squonking RDTA. Yes, that is a gold-plated squonking pin, insulator ring around it, stainless steel threading over there and if you look inside in that tube, it actually squonks into the tank. I’ll show it to you when I take the tank out and swap out the ultem glass. Take the barrel or top section off and you’ll notice, these little cuts here, they go with the cuts right there and it makes it a non spinning barrel. There’s also some little grommets, rubber grommets right there that plug up your fillport holes so when you tip the mod over or something like that, you don’t get juice all over the place.
Check out this airflow. See that side air flow in there? That’s controlled with this. I don’t know if you can actually see, it’s hard for me to angle it but trust me, one side is fully closed, one side is fully open. You can adjust it anywhere in between. I don’t like not being able to see how far open or closed my airflow is. I’m really not a fan of that. Not much of a conical design going on in there because this is taking up too much space.
Here is your deck. I’m not going to do a build on this because it’s a simple postless deck. You got some really nice, gold-plated Phillips head screws here. Nice, big wicking ports for your wicks. Real, real nice. I really like this deck. It’s simple and the flavor is actually really good on it. Got some more post screws over here, two o-rings over here, hold everything in place.
Let’s swap out the glass. Let’s put the ultem glass. All you do, in order to swap out the glass is spin off the base like that. Take your glass out. While we have the glass out, I want to show you where your juice comes from when you squonk it. When you squonk it through here, it goes all the way up and then it drops down from there into the tank. Nice job, I like that. It’s better than having it on the side here because you can actually fully fill up the tank. I like that, I think Vandy Vape did a nice job with that. Well thought out.
So now we’re going to put the ultem section back on and we’re just going to take our base and we’re going to spin that back on and install them. Make sure it’s nice and tight and once it’s all put together, it should look like that. I think that looks a lot better than with the clear glass. Let me put this thing on a stand and let me wick it up for you and show you how to get this wicked properly.
Wicking & Juicing
Wicking material we’re going to be using today is Native Wicks Platinum Blend. Tear yourself off a nice chunk, enough to handle both coils. Give it a little twirl between your fingers. Get one side nice and pointy and feed it right through, just like that. Once your cotton is fed all the way through, you want to cut it right where the metal part ends and the ultem begins. That’s the perfect spot to cut it. Same thing on the other side, right there. Now take your other end of the wick and do the same exact thing on the other side. Feed it right through, pull it through and cut it so it’s even with the other two, just like so. Now you want to take your cotton tool and you just want to give it a gentle tuck, right into those big beautiful wicking ports. Just like that. Don’t choke it off. See how they have some room in there? That’s what you want. You want to have some room in there. Same thing on the other side, take your cotton, tuck it in there, nice and gently. Not affecting the fluffiness and do the same thing with the other one and that’s how it should look.
Juice we’re going to be using today, Naked 100 Maui Sun. This stuff is amazing, especially in the summer. Like a citrus pineapple juice. I don’t even like pineapple juices but this one is just bangin. Make sure you pick yourself up some for the summer.
Just insert your dropper in there and give it a nice squeeze. The nice thing about that squonking pin being on the top, you don’t have to worry about not using this RDTA as a squonker and getting juice all over your 510 because since that squonking outlet is basically on the ceiling of the tank, you don’t have to worry about juice coming through that 510 and messing up your mod. That’s what I think the genius of that design actually is. Really well-thought-out. Vandy Vape always thinks of all the innovative stuff. They’re great when it comes to that, they really are. They’ve made a lot of game-changing designs. Wet that cotton up a little bit, get it flowing. Put your top cap back on, like that. Now you’re all filled up and you’re ready to vape.
Let’s cut back on top. Let’s talk about it. We’re going to go over cons and pros and then we’re out of here. See you back on top.
Alright, everyone! We’re back on top with the Vandy Vape Pyro 2. You saw it down low, man. It’s a nice-looking RDTA, it really is. I’m really not an RDTA guy in general. I don’t really like them but I gotta say, I really like the versatility on this one. I love the innovative squonk hole and that it comes out of the top side of the tank. I think that makes it so versatile because you don’t have to install or uninstall a squonking pin in order to change modes. Since that squonk pin is right on the top there, if you run this as a regular RDTA, it’s not going to leak because there’s no way for the juice to get down that tube. I like that, I think little things like that are just ingenious and Vandy Vape is always coming up with stuff like that. I gotta give them pros, I really do. Super easy to build on, super easy to wick. Love the coiling tool that they provided. I think that’s fantastic. Makes building this thing a dream. It’s available in black, stainless steel, gold, rainbow and a beautiful blue one that I wish they would have sent me. You want to know something? That’s one of the bad things about being a reviewer is almost every atomizer I get is either black or stainless steel because those are always the first two colors that are released. We never get the really cool colors. Whatever, I’m not complaining. I just wanted to point that out.
What’s in the Box
Each set contain:
1pc Pyro V2 BF RDTA
1pc 18.5mm Delrin Tip
1pc Accessory bag
1pc Replace glass tube
1pc Coil Lead Guide
Let’s move on to the cons and pros.
First con is going to be, I hate the fact that I can’t see my airflow adjustment, that I’m flying blind on that. There’s no way to tell. To the left, it’s totally closed. To the right, it’s totally open and I guess somewhere in between is halfway. I would rather see it, I don’t like that. I wish they would have built in something where I could actually see the air flow or maybe even put markings like half quarter or just little line so I can tell what line I like it at. I would have liked to have seen that.
The other con is going to be, I put the ultem glass section and it’s got a ultem tip, but this ultem part on top right here, some people just absolutely hate ultem and it’s on every color RDTA that they make in this model. Some people are just not going to like that and I gotta point it out.
Last con is going to be, it does not have a particularly wide range of airflow. You really can’t cut it down that much. It’s a direct-lung hit no matter which way you hit it. There’s no way to really, really tighten it up. It’s kind of from a medium direct-lung hit, all the way to a wide open one or a semi wide open one. It’s got a very tight airflow range. I wish it was a little wider.
On to the pros.
Its compact for an RDTA, look at it. Small stature, I kind of like that. It looks good on this mod. I’m diggin the small stature of it. I like that in an RDTA.
It’s got a nice flavor especially considering its a top airflow RDTA. The flavor is actually pretty decent.
It’s a cloud chucker, that’s a pro. We’re going to give it a pro for that.
It’s an excellent squonking RDTA. I love using this thing as a squonker. I don’t have it on as squonker right now because I’m testing out this mod but I’ve been running it on my rage and my G box and I absolutely adore it on those two mods. It’s fantastic on me. I like having that extra capacity in the tank.
It’s got a nice capacity, 4ml capacity. we’ll give it a pro for that.
Two different glass sections are included. You get the clear and you get the ultem. I like that, Vandy Vape.
No need to change the squonk pin when you’re in non squonk mode. We already went over that but it’s a pro.
Nice build quality, typical of Vandy Vape. What I expect, that’s a pro.
Super easy to build and wick especially when you use that included coil tool. Fantastic job, Vandy Vape.
Locking barrel section, I love the fact that that barrel locks on there and those two plugs dropped down and makes your RDTA leak proof. That’s really nice. It’s a great feature, I love it.
The other thing I love about it, all you got there is a little Vandy Vape logo. It’s black on black, very subtle branding. Good on you, Vandy Vape.
