Vaptio Ironclad Kit Review

Updated on: 2019-08-26

Is simple just better sometimes? Yes, sometimes simple is just better. My problem with this mod is, while it is simple and easy to use, like I said before, every time I look at it, I’m just expecting to see a screen. I feel like Vaptio didn’t go as far as they could with this. If they just would have put like a simple up-and-down wattage screen on it, I think it would have been a lot better. I just feel like it’s an incomplete kit. Basically, what this is is it’s a stick mod, one of those stick mods without any screen, and it’s just in a different form factor. If that’s something that you’re looking for, if you don’t like stick mods but you like the way they vape, then definitely take a look at this. But otherwise, for me personally, I’d have to pass this one up, this isn’t my jam.

What’s up, Insiders? Deuces Jack, I’m at Today, we’re going over the Vaptio Ironclad. This is a simple type of setup, the big question on this one is, is simple sometimes just
Better? Make sure you watch the whole review, I’ll give you all my thoughts and feelings on this one.

The Tank

Alright, here is the Frogman tank. This thing is compatible with Baby Beast coils. Bubble glass pre-installed. Nice big drip tip, they did go with a proprietary drip tip though, bad job, Vaptio, just stupid. You don’t have to follow Smok with everything they do. Nobody, and I mean nobody wants a proprietary drip tip. Make it 810 or 510, I don’t know how many times I have to say this. Little Vaptio branding up here. And remember, if you lose this drip tip, you’re screwed.

On the bottom here, we have bottom airflow. Stoppers on both ends, whatever you adjust on one will of course result in the same adjustment on the other side. On the bottom of the atomizer, we got some Frogman C branding,, stainless steel 510, insulator ring around that, stainless steel threading around that.

In order to access your coil, you just give it a little twist, just like so. Now, this is one of those tanks that’s weird, it screws into the top and sometimes the coil actually stays screwed on, I hate that, it’s a pain in the neck. We’ll put the coil back in there just so I got something to grip onto. You can see, mesh coil inside, traditional sort of mesh. There’s your Vaptio parameters right there, this is a mesh coil 0.2 ohm good for 40-70W with a best-of rating of 50-60W. You get the same exact one as a spare. Just so you can see right there, same exact coil, so two of the same coils in the packaging.

Now, it’s officially summer time so let’s break out the Key Lime Pie by Blue Ribbon Pie Guys. This stuff is actually pretty good, they make a bunch of pie vape, strawberry, blueberry, peach cobbler, they’re all good, I’m digging the Key Lime in the summer. Let’s use this to
prime up our new coil.

Vaptio Ironclad Kit juice fill

Take that coil. I do like that the cotton is exposed there because now I can prime it really nicely. See how nice and easy it is to prime that coil now? Nice job on that. Then, you just want to get a little bit of juice in each wicking port. You don’t gotta go crazy, but you want to get it in there just to get it started. And your coil should look something like that.

Vaptio Ironclad Kit topfill

Now, we’re going to take our prime coil and we’re just going to pop it on there and screw it down. Make sure it’s nice and snug so you get no leaks. Now, we’re going to take that top cap off. I don’t know if I showed you the top cap, nice big o-ring here, keeping the juice at bay. You got two nice fill ports there that should accommodate almost any type of bottle. I do like the shiny part on there, they did a nice job on that.

Let’s take our juice bottle, put our Key Lime Pie in there and let’s give it a squeeze. Get that all filled up with some Key Lime goodness. Now, let’s pop our top cap back on there and we’re going to let this coil sit and soak while we go over the mod.

The Mod

Vaptio Ironclad Kit screen side

Here is the mod, 123 clicks on. You can see your LED light over there. No screen. A little bit of Vaptio branding here, this is not a screen. There is your micro USB port for charging. Of course,
because it’s such a simple mod, there are no updates on this. On the bottom, you got some screws holding the bottom plate in place. A little bit of venting. Nothing really much going on here, man. I’m kind of digging the two-tone look, it kind of looks kind of wacky. On the top here you got a little bit of a design going on, some screws holding the top plate in place, spring-loaded gold-plated 510 that I would say has a really stiff spring with a very short throw.

Vaptio Ironclad Kit fire button

Take your atomizer, put it right on, just like that. Now let me show you this, this kind of bothered me. See that? I don’t know if you can see that on cameras, see that little bit of gapage right there? That’s annoying, man. I just did not like that, it’s just wasn’t good. See that, man? See what I’m talking about? That little bit of gapage? I wasn’t crazy about that. I don’t think any mod
should ever do that with a tank that’s made for that mod. I don’t like that gapage at all.

Vaptio Ironclad Kit side

Here it is all put together. Not a bad-looking kit. Basically, this is just a stick kit in a different form factor. That’s really all it is. 123, three clicks, it’s on, and now you can vape it. That’s it, there’s really nothing else to go over on this mod.

Let’s get into the pros though because there are a couple of pros.

First pro is going to be, I like the form factor, I like the way it feels in my hand. I just feel like every time I look at it that it’s missing a screen. I wish this thing had a screen even if it was just something as simple as up-and-down wattage. I just think they could have done it on this and it kind of feels like they drop the ball. But the form factor is actually nice and it does feel good in the hand.

It’s simple, it’s easy to use, that’s definitely a pro.

The tank has a nice capacity, we’ll chuck up a pro for that.

It’s compatible with Smok coils which are easily available everywhere, that’s a pro.

And the last pro is going to be the smooth airflow. This thing’s got smooth airflow. Let me show you what I’m talking about. Hear that, man? That’s fully open if I cut it down about half way, gets a little loud halfway but it’s still very very smooth, I’m not experiencing a lot of turbulence. The flavors actually decent, the clouds are decent, I just don’t like the temperature of the vape.
Let me show you what I’m working with now. This thing’s about fully charged. Here we go. Not bad, like I said, I got some Key Lime Pie in there, you can definitely taste the Key Lime Pie, it’s just not as saturated or as hot as I normally like to vape.

So that’s it, Insiders! Those are my pros and cons. Let’s talk about this one a little bit.

Alright, Insiders! Let’s get into those cons and pros for the Vaptio Ironclad.

First con is going to be, proprietary drip tip. Really, Vaptio? It’s a con.

Another con on this one is going to be those coils, they take about a good three quarters of a
tank to a full tank to break in. they kind of have a funny taste for the first tank, I gotta point that out, it’s a con.

And the last con is going to be, this suffers from the same con that a lot of stick mods that have no adjustability suffer from, the vape on this thing is just very cool. And that’s okay if you like a cool vape but for somebody like me that like something hotter, it’s an issue. I don’t like vaping cool vapes and this one is definitely on the cool side. Maybe even more so than some stick mods out there. So it’s a big con to me.

Let’s go over some of the specs on the Vaptio Ironclad Kit. It measures in at 45mm x 26mm x 79mm. It has a 2600mAh internal battery.
