From Top To Bottom:

The Mod:

Typical Smok 510 pin, springy yet firm and stainless steel threaded. It has a really nice throw to it and all my atomizers sit flush. If the screen is facing you, then the 510 pin is on the left side of the mod. It will hold a 25mm atomizer with no overhang.

Right below the 510 on the left side of the mod, you have Smok’s famous firing bar. It is very clicky and responsive. I love the firing bars on Smok mods. They are easy to find and work extremely well. The firing bar is mounted very securely with no wiggle or rattle to it at all. You can push this bar on the low side of the bar and it will fire, it will just take a little more pressure.

On the front of the mod, you have a beautiful 2.4-inch color touchscreen. It is well done, bright, and vivid. It has all the pertinent information that a vaper needs to know. On the screen, you will see the time, battery meter, wattage, preheat, puffs, amps, voltage, and resistance. The screen also has a unique-locking feature. In between the 510 and the firing bar, there is a tiny chrome button that can be used to lock the screen. Touch that button quickly and the screen shuts off so you don’t waste any battery life while vaping. Long press the button and it will lock the screen so you cannot accidentally adjust the wattage or temperature. This button is simple, ingenious, and very well done.

On the other side of the mod, we have a carbon fiber plate with some G Priv branding on top and some 220-watt lettering on the bottom. It is elegantly done and not intrusive at all. Look for the little notch on the bottom of this cover and you can slip your fingernail in there and remove the battery cover. Inside, you will find four strong magnets that correspond with four equally strong magnets on the actual battery door. The battery orientation for this mod is marked clearly in the sled itself. There is also a battery ribbon to assist you in getting your batteries in and out without tearing your wraps. The battery contacts are gold plated and spring loaded on top, they are button Style on the bottom. Place your battery in the mod topside first so you can push the spring in and ease your battery into place.

The slim sides of the mod are done in an almost flat black paint. The bottom side of the mod has some battery venting along with a charge update port. Not a big fan of putting these ports on the bottom of the mod. I would much rather have the charge update Port somewhere on the side of the mod. This way I don’t have to lay the mod down to charge it. There is more than enough real estate on the G Priv where they could have put the charge/update port somewhere else.

Smok did a bang up job on this touch screen. It is responsive and beautiful. Unfortunately, it is not customizable. It would have been nice if Smok allowed the user to add their own wallpapers or personalize the screen in some way. It just leaves me wanting something more. Don’t get me wrong, it functions beautifully and does exactly what it has to do but to have such a big beautiful screen and not be able to customize it is really kind of a shame.

The Tank:

Smok decided to include a legendary tank in this kit. In your G Priv kit, you will receive a Big Baby Beast. It has quickly become one of my favorite tanks by Smok. Yes, I know it takes the same coils as the Baby Beast but I have to say I love having the extra capacity.

Don’t let this tank size or name fool you, this is a cloud-chucking tank. It has great flavor, great coil selections comma and it can chuck clouds with the best of them. It is not a super high-wattage tank but more for the vapor that is in the mid-range of vaping.

While you get the X4 and T6 coil head, there is no RBA section. Even though there is an available RBA section for the Big Baby Beast. Unfortunately, it is a separate purchase. I really wish companies would stop doing that. If an RBA section is available, it should be included in the purchase.

Smok G Priv Kit Review

Airflow on the Big Baby Beast is just wide open. This tank is just not for the MTLer. This is for the vaper that enjoys a cloudy, dense, flavorful, open, direct lung hit. Even closed halfway down the Big Baby Beast is pretty loose as far as the draw goes. Close it most of the way down and you will get a slightly restricted lung hit.

The Big Baby Beast has a 5 mil capacity and an 8.5 mm Delrin drip tip period. It is primarily made of stainless steel and glass. It is also a top fill tank that has a swivel opening that Smok has made famous. It is 24.5 mm in diameter and looks absolutely fantastic on the G Priv. Looks, performance and flavor – what else do you really need?

The Look, Feel, and General Aesthetics Of The Mod:

I’ll start this section off by saying I own a lot of mods. For some reason, I always catch myself grabbing for the G Priv. Even though I have mods that are much more expensive. It’s not my best looking mod or my lightest mod but I love vaping on it. I can’t describe it, it kind of feels like I’m always holding a deck of cards. It feels solid and sturdy and it just inspires confidence. The screen can be seen in almost any lighting condition and it just vapes great in power mode. I even like the rubber jacket Smok includes in the kit. I am normally not a fan of those silicone-type sleeves but this one works really well with the mod. It covers just enough to protect it while at the same time it does not make the mod look ugly or cheap. While G Priv is not the most pocketable mod in the world, it is very comfortable and easy to carry. Because it feels like a deck of cards, it’s very easy to slip in a top jacket pocket or a front jeans pocket. Yes, compared to most of the new dual 18650 mods, the G Priv is bigger but I don’t care I still love it.

The Board:

Of course, the board is typical Smok. The G Priv vapes fantastically in power mode but unfortunately, TC mode leaves something to be desired. I really wish Smok would work more on their TC game. They come out with such innovative mods yet their TC seems to always be lacking. I love the preheat function and use it a lot but I can just not get a satisfying TC Vape off of most of my Smok mods. That’s not to say this is a bad board because it isn’t. I’m just saying that if you’re a TC vapor you may want to look somewhere else. If you vape in power mode, then it’s a moot point.

The Menu System:

This menu system is a little different than most Smok mods. Mainly because of the touch screen and the access it grants the user. As I said before there’s a special button just to the lock the screen. When using the touch screen, you can raise your wattage by simply touching either side of the circle in the middle of the screen. There is a back button that gives you access to the main menu. That main menu will give you a choice of variable watt mode, TC mode, maximum puffs, and settings. The system itself is simple and intuitive. Simply press on the choice you would like to access and then you can use a slider bar or a drop-down menu to adjust certain settings. That’s it, that is the menu system. It gives you the feel of using a smartphone. So believe me anyone that owns a smartphone can operate this mod efficiently.

How Does It Vape?

This is just a masterful pairing by Smok. They took a great mod and paired it with a legendary tank. I love running the .2 ohm T6 coil at around 75 Watts. I just get a fantastically flavorful vape and clouds galore. I can easily get through a full day with two sets of batteries. I get more than enough power from this mod and more than enough flavor and vapor production from this tank. It is a very impressive, complete kit. All you really need are a set of high-quality batteries and some juice and you are ready to vape.

What can I say? This is what you get when you pair a legendary tank with a great mod. I love everything about this mod and really had a hard time coming up with cons for this mod. It does have its little quirks and idiosyncrasies but all in all, it is a great kit that will satisfy the pickiest vaper out there. I like the size of this mod, the way it feels in my hand, the pocketability of it, and the tank it’s paired with. This is one solid, complete kit that will appeal to a large cross-section of vapers.
