Sub Ohm Vaping Guide

What is subohm vaping?

The definition of sub ohm vaping or ‘sub ohming’ is vaping when the atomizer coils have a resistance of less than 1 ohm. That’s the technical definition, but what does that actually mean for the vaping experience? In short sub ohm vaping leads to huge vapor production, intense flavor, and warmer vapor.

How to subohm vape

The easiest way to start sub ohm vaping is to buy a tank with a prebuilt atomizer. This avoids you having to build the coil yourself. You will need to use the tank with a mod that is compatible with sub ohming. For more info on tanks check out our guide on the best sub ohm tank of 2019.

Sub ohm tanks

Uwell Crown Subtank $28.95

Uwell Crown subohm tank

The stainless steel and quartz glass Uwell Crown TC tank is well made and durable. This tank has adjustable airflow and is capable of producing huge vapor clouds. It is designed to rival the vapor production you can get from RDAs (rebuildable dripper atomizers).

The tank comes with a preinstalled 0.15 ohm Ni-200 TC Dual Coil with an organic cotton wick. Two other prebuilt coils come with Uwell Crown; 0.25 ohm and 0.5 ohm dual coils with organic cotton wicks.

The tank has a 4ml capacity so even with huge clouds you can have long vaping sessions without the need to refill. When refilling you can choose between top filling or bottom filling. An advanced cooling system ensures maximum comfort. A replacement glass tube comes with this tank.

VaporFi Edge Tank $49.95

The Vaporfi Edge tank was made with subohm vapers in mind. The massive 7ml tank capacity means that even cloud chasers can vape for hours. The stainless steel and Pyrex glass Edge tank is well built and durable.

The tank comes with a preinstalled 0.5 ohm atomizer, a 0.2 ohm ni200 Temperature Control atomizer, and a regular 0.2 ohm atomizer. Apart from the TC coil, the coils are made from Kanthal wire.

A unique feature of this tank is the ability to adjust the juice flow. Rotating the atomizer head switches between small, medium, and large juice holes. Changing the juice output will change the power ouput. The airflow is also adjustable.

The Vaporfi edge tank has a much wider than average drip tip, its inner diameter is 12mm. This design both cools the vapor and allows for bigger clouds.

Until recently only advanced vapers who had enough knowledge could subohm vape safely. It was necessary to have an understanding of the relationship between ohms, watts, and volts in order to avoid damaging the batteries in dangerous ways that could result in fires, leaking gas, or explosions. These days regulated box mods allow you to avoid sub ohm vaping dangers without any of the previous worries. However you still need to make sure you are using batteries that are compatible with subohm vaping.
