First Impression Out Of The Box:

Decent packaging, but Vandy Vape really needs to get into the game when it comes to their presentation. They make such innovative tanks and they put them in such simple boxes it really does not do that product any justice. The Govad looks to be well-machined but for some reason, there’s a black piece sitting in the middle of the tank. I’m going to have to check this out a little further.

What’s In The box:

  • 1 GOVAD RTA
  • 1 14mm Delrin Wide Bore Drip Tip
  • 1 510 Drip Tip Adapter
  • 1 Replacement Glass Tube
  • Spare Parts & Screws

From Top To Bottom:

Unlike most Vandy Vape products, the Govad RTA only comes with 2 drip tips. Most of the other Vandy Vape tanks and RDA’s I have received have had at least three. You get a wide bore Ultem drip tip that is Goon style. You also get a more narrow and taller Delrin drip tip. Vandy Vape also includes a 510 adapter so you can use all of your regular drip tips.

The top cap is machined very well and it has a little bit of a raised platform to it. I’m normally not a big fan of platforms on top caps but this one is very subtle and really doesn’t affect the looks or use of the top cap. The top cap also has some really nice knurling on it and does screw on buttery smooth.

The Govad has pretty big juice fill ports that are kidney bean shaped they will accommodate almost any juice bottle including bullnose tips. The chimney on the Govad is not super wide but at the same time, it is not too long and narrow. The chimney leads to a barrel that is conically shaped. There are two juice flow control holes on the barrel. The nice thing about the juice flow control on the Govad is that it actually has a stopper, which is a really nice touch. You have to love the fact that Vandy Vape really pays attention to these types of little details.

In the first section of this review, I mentioned that there was a black piece in the middle of the tank. The black piece is to make the tank TPD compliant in Europe. Basically, what it does is it takes a 4ml tank and cuts it down to two 2mls with the use of a spacer. It’s actually pretty ingenious and simple at the same time. Think about it for a second, Vandy Vape does not have to come up with different sized glasses, chimney extensions, or any other modifications in order to be TPD compliant. They simply just add the spacer.

I think this idea is fantastic. Not only does it work but it kind of looks like Vandy Vape is giving the European Union the business. They came up with a solution that they know most people will use. I would venture to say that a good portion of the people that buy this tank is going to pull out the black piece and take advantage of the 4ml capacity instead of the 2ml version. Really nice idea Vandy Vape and an excellent execution.

The base of the tank has some branding on the bottom with a gold-plated 510 pin. The knurling on the base is not as deep as the knurling on the top cap. The airflow control has three positions that you can click into place. It also has a stopper on each end. It is adjustable, smooth, and seamless. The base measures in at 23.7 mm at its narrowest point. It tapers up to 26 mm at its widest point. This ensures that the Govad will look good on most mods that can accommodate 25mm tanks.

The Deck:

While the whole tank is beautifully constructed, where the Govad really shines is the deck. This is a single coil Pharaoh style clamp deck. The clamps are spring loaded and both sides are wide open to form a T-shape in order for the builder to slip in their leads from either side. The deck has two Kennedy style air flow tubes sitting underneath the single coil. The whole deck is gold plated including the Phillips head screws. Wicking the Govad can be a little finicky because the juice ports are kind of shallow. You can fit a really large coil in this deck with plenty of room to spare.

Building And Wicking:

Because this is a single coil, deck building and wicking it is pretty straightforward. In order to install a coil, you simply open up the clamps, put your leads in, and tighten them down. Coil placement is going to be very key on a tank like this. You don’t want to run your coil too low because the deck also has side air flow. You want to make sure your coil is placed about three to four millimeters of the air tubes. This allows your build to take full advantage of all of the air flow available in the Govad RTA.

Most single coil tanks do require a lot of cotton or at the very least a lot of fluffing up the cotton in order to get them to work right. The Govad is a little different. It does not require a lot of cotton because the juice ports are a little on the shallow side. In fact, instead of fluffing up your cotton, you would probably be better off thinning it out. I cut my cotton so it barely hits the bottom of the juice port. I make sure I place my cotton in the juice ports and take utmost care not to stuff it in there.

How Does It Vape?

I have made no bones about my love for single coil tanks. I love them because I can run builds at half the wattage, using half the battery power, and using half the juice. All of this while getting an extremely satisfying cloudy vape. As of this writing, the Govad is one of the best single coil RTA tanks I have ever used. It has really great flavor when set up the right way and it can chuck clouds with the best of the single coil tanks. In fact, most of the time, you’ll think you’re using a dual coil tank. Now I get much better flavor when I cut the airflow down as opposed to running the tank wide open. Wide open is just too airy for my taste. It also diminishes the flavor of this tank greatly. The airflow junkies are going to love this tank but the people that like a restrictive lung hits might be a little disappointed. Those types of vapers are going to find themselves cutting down the airflow a lot.

I have a framed alien in the Govad today ohming out at .25 at 60 watts in TC mode at 500 degrees Fahrenheit. This build is giving me a great Vape. I get pretty intense flavor with the airflow shut down halfway and the clouds are pretty good as well.

Conclusion:

Let’s face it, not everybody likes to run their tanks at 150 or 200 watts all day. Yes, once in awhile, it’s fun, but to be honest I just don’t Vape like that day in and day out. Some people do and this tank just may not be for them. For the people that are like me and vape in the 50 – 85 watt range everyday, the Govad is definitely worth a gander. For me, it does just fine in the flavor and clouds department. In fact, finding a better performing single coil RTA on the market today would be a pretty daunting task at this point in time. Yes, there are a lot of tanks that come close but the Govad edges them out in flavor and clouds almost every time. Be sure to check out one of our Vapor DNA coupon codes when purchasing this tank!
