Wotofo Warrior RDA Review & Giveaway
First Impression out of the Box
DeucesJack: What’s up, everyone? DeucesJack, I’m at vapinginsider.com. Today, I got a new RDA for you from Wotofo. It’s the Warrior RDA, made in conjunction with Wotofo and JMT Elite. They’re a team of coil builders that got together with Wotofo and came up with their own RDA. 25 mm in diameter, comes in six colors, stainless steel, black, gold, rainbow, blue and gunmetal.
Let’s cut down low. Let me show it to you up close and personal. We’re going to drop a build in it. We’re going to wick it up for you. We’ll juice it up and then we’re going to vape on it. I’ll see you down low.
What’s In The Box
- 1 Warrior RDA
- 1 Spare 810 Drip Tip
- 1 510 Drip Tip Adapter
- 1 Single Coil Block
- 1 Bag of Prebuilt Coils
- 1 Set of Agletted Japanese Cotton
- 1 Spare Parts Bag
- 1 Instructional Manual
Alright, everyone! Welcome to the down low portion of this video. Today, we’re going over the Wotofo Warrior RDA, made in conjunction with JMT Elite. From what I hear, they’re a team of coil builders. Got some Warrior branding over there. I got the gunmetal one over here. There’s your scratch-and-sniff. Wotofo and JMT Elite branding over there, some Wotofo branding over there.
On the back of the box, you can pause it if you want to read it, you can see everything that’s included. Let’s open this up and let me show it to you. Here is your top cap. We’re going to put that to the side for a second. Here’s your deck.
Inside the box, you will receive a Warrior instruction manual. These are actually really cool. These are wicks that have like a shoelace type of end to them, make it easy to slide them through the coil. Nice to see Wotofo get rid of those comp bags. Really surprised that they decided to go with juggernaut coils. These things aren’t the most flavorful coils and if the people you built this with are coil builders, why did they let that happen? I don’t understand. In your other spare parts bag, you get a airflow blocker for running it in single coil mode, a hex key, some deck scews, a solid 510 pin and some spare o-rings. You also get a black Phillips head screwdriver.
Here is your 510 drip tip adapter included in the packaging. You also get a goon style drip tip, kind of like a resin shorty tuff cap style, not really digging that. The other drip tip you get is a little bit longer and it’s a dock style drip tip. I like that one better, also goon style.
From Top To Bottom
Here is your top cap. Check out that air flow. Those tiny little air flow holes, kind of like the Drop. The same sizes like the Drop airflow holes. Kind of gives you that smoothness. There’s no knurling on the top cap here, that’s an absolutely terrible move on Wotofo’s part. I’m diggin the Warrior Emblem right there. That’s kind of cool. Two-piece top cap design, one o-ring holds everything in place. Decent machining, a little bit of a conical design in there. Again, this part really is just begging for some knurling.
In order to adjust your air flow, you’re going to see, you can cut the holes down. They’re hard to see on camera. You can cut the holes down, three at a time. See that cutting down, right there? Very, very hard to tell on camera with these type of air flow holes but trust me, you can cut them down three at a time.
Here is your deck. Got some decent Phillips head screws over there, they’re not the greatest quality, they’re okay. You got a clamp style deck going on here, not spring-loaded. You kind of got to lift and get your coil in there like that, nothing really innovative here or crazy going on, as far as the deck goes.
On the bottom there, there is your squonk pin. For some reason, I don’t know why this is a dual coil deck. I don’t know if it’s particularly made for squonking but it comes with the squonking pin pre-installed. Warrior branding over here, JMT branding, Wotofo branding, negative posts crew over here, phillips head, insulator ring on the inside, stainless steel threading over here.
The deck is decent. It’s nothing new or innovative. A little bit of space over here, for your juice to flow through. Got some JMT Elite and Wotofo branding on the bottom of the deck because it’s not on the RDA enough already.
Let me slap a build in here for you. Thank God, two weeks ago, Wotofo sent me these Quad core fused Claptons. They’re N80, 3 mm. These are actually some nice coils by Wotofo and probably what they should have included in the packaging.
So in order to install your build, what you want to do is you want to take your leads and you want to get them under those little post clamps, right there. I can’t stand decks like this because it’s like my leads are sharing space. It’s just a pain in the neck to build on. There’s just better decks they could have went with. Do the same thing on the other side, slide your coil leads in. See how everything gets in the way? Just a real pain in the neck. You kind of want to play around with them, something like that. You want them somewhere in the middle and then kind of try to hold them in place. This deck is just a pain in the neck to build on. I don’t understand why they went this way. It’s nothing innovative or spectacular. But you kind of tighten everything down now, the way it is. You see the way it looks right now?
So now what we’re going to do is we’re going to get our wire clipper in there and we’re going to start clipping away. Two of them are always easy but there’s always two that are tough to get to in a deck like this. Alright, so you want it to look something like that.
Now what you want to do is you want to take your coiling rod and you want to worry about positioning. I would say, you want to bring your coil up a little bit, right around there so that airflow is hitting the bottom of your coil. And you want your build to look something like that. See what happens here? See that airflow? That airflow is going to be hitting right from underneath that coil. That’s the way you want it.
Alright, let’s pulse this and see what we’re ohming out at. Right now, we’re ohming out at around 0.1. That’s probably going to change. I’ve got a couple of hotspots. We’re going to work them out in a second. Let’s grab our ceramic tweezers, give it a little scrape. We’re up to 0.14 and it looks like we got it glowing evenly from the inside out. There we go. We’re all done.
Cotton I’m going to be using today, Native Wicks Platinum Blend. You guys know that’s the way I roll. Take a nice piece of your Native Wicks, give it a little roll. Feed it into that coil and pull it through. Now, on this RDA, you want to cut it right towards the bottom, right there. Same thing on the other side, right towards the bottom of the RDA. Take the other side of your cotton, give it a nice roll and do the same thing on the other side. Pull it through and cut your cotton the same exact way. Now you want to take your cotton and you just want to give it a little scootch and tuck, just like that. Same thing on the other side. Do the same thing on the other coil, a little scooch and tuck. Make sure you leave enough room for that squonking action. And that’s it, man. You’re all built and wicked.
Let’s throw some juice on this bad boy. Juice we’re going to be using today is some Honest ELiquid Cream and Sugar and it’s exactly what it sounds like. It’s just cream and sugar. This stuff is decadent and it just tastes fantastic. Want to get your juice bottle in there, fill up that juice well a little bit. Paint those coils, same thing on the other side. Get in there, load it up with some juice. Get that cotton nice and wet. Now let’s see if we can get some vapor going. There we go.
Here’s what it looks like all together. Let’s put it on a mod. Let’s go back to the top and vape on it. See you back on top.
Alright, everyone! We’re back on top with the Wotofo Warrior RDA, made in conjunction with JMT Elite. You saw that thing down low, man. Super smooth airflow. That airflow is probably one of the quietest, one of the smoothest airflows I ever experienced. Bang-up job on that. Short chamber, domed shape for some flavor.
The included coils, actually, they kind of suck. They really do. I was a little disappointed and especially knowing that a coil building team is the one who who designed this RDA, to include juggernaut coils, guys, what were you thinking, man? I tried them, they’re okay but they definitely don’t do this RDA justice. Do yourself a favor and put yourself a pair of aliens or Clapton’s in there to get the best flavor out of this RDA.
It’s 25 mm in diameter, 33 mm in height, I like it. I have to say, I definitely been enjoying it. One of my biggest cons on it though, is that top cap. That top cap is just begging for some knurling. They should have knurled it so you can get a better grip. It’s kind of hard to adjust the airflow on it, sometimes. Your fingers just keep slipping every time you try to turn it. Especially if you got some juice on your fingers. I just don’t like it. It needed some knurling, that’s for sure.
Let’s get into the cons and the pros officially.
We already went over it, no knurling. That’s going to be a con.
O-rings on it are very tight when you first get it so do yourself a favor and make sure you juice them up. They get better and they do break in after you juice them up but they’re ridiculously tight when you get the RDA.
Squonk pin is already installed. I don’t understand why they did that. It’s a dual coil RDA and I don’t know if it’s like the greatest squonker in the world so why would you put the squonk pin in right off the bat? I would have rather seen the solid pin in there, let me put the squonk pin in if I want to. I’m using it on the Niagra right now as a squonker and it is a very competent squonker but I don’t like when they pre install that, unless that RDA is particularly made just for squonking and that doesn’t seem to be the case with this one. So they should have just put the solid pin in.
We already went over it, the coils that they included are not the best. They’re going to get a con for that.
The other problem with this RDA is that deck. It’s really not the easiest deck to build on. It’s not for beginners. You kind of got to fiddle around and a lot it is very fidgety. I’m not a fan of that type of deck where I’m basically sharing my leads and in one big terminal. I don’t like that. I think they could have come up with a better deck design than the one that they put in here.
Now, let’s move on to the pros because there’s quite a few of them.
First pro’s going to be, I went over already, airflow is as smooth and as quiet as it gets. Big pro on that.
Nice drip tips included and a 510 drip tip adapter, pro.
Really nice flavor on this. I get good flavor when you put in some decent coils don’t use the coils that came with it. Put yourself in some aliens and you’ll get some really good flavor.
Cloud chucker, this thing chuck’s the clouds, man. We’ll give them a pro for that.
Locking barrel system, pro.
Its machined very well. I like the finish on it. They did a good job with all the colors. We’re going to give him a pro for that.
It’s got a very nice airflow range. Yes, the airflow is tough to adjust sometimes and it’s tough to see with those little pin holes for airflow slots but it’s got a nice range that you can adjust it over. So I’m going to give them a pro for that.
Performs well as a squonker or a dripper, we’re going to give them a pro for that. Yeah, it’s a decent squonker and you know what man? You can drip right down the middle so it’s good as a dripper as well, pro.
And that’s it for the pros and cons.
